Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1342: The Cry Of A Child
-----
The growth of adulthood for any person could be considered a trial of its own, to come to terms with your own existence and how your childhood was nothing but a small phase of your long life, a couple of years, compared to the decades you'll live as an adult.
Perhaps that's why the majority of people tend to appreciate this age, these years, even more as they grow older, where they felt truly free, where they…
Where they didn't have to take Responsibilities or went through Stress because of the pressure that society itself put into their lives.
Of the daily grind, as they say.
Nightmares manifest from Humanity's greatest fears, their stress, their agony, their hatred, their suffering, everything that humans experience becomes a Nightmare after some time.
After thousands, millions, and then billions of people go through these emotions, these objects of hatred, disgust, fear, and sorrow.
They rapidly take shape through the world, from something so basic as fearing spiders to…
Things such as leaving your childhood, and the Nightmares that come with growing up.
The Nightmare of Responsibility.
The Nightmare of Stress.
Both of these beings were created by the Nightmare Demon of Childhood, born from the endless darkness that comes after Childhood, these beings emerged.
The weight and heaviness of Responsibility granted the Nightmare with powers to manipulate invisible Gravitational Forces that produce large quantities of Weight, gaining overwhelming power.
And the anger and despair of Stress granted the Nightmare with the power to endlessly regenerate, grow its limbs like snakes, and inject deadly curses that stop a person's body from moving completely.
Together, they create a deadly duo!
And their purpose?
They were sent here to simply send these two girls "back to their slumber" and nothing else.
"You… must… return… where you… came from…"
Responsibility glared at Francis, and moved its right hand towards the little girl, while holding her with its left hand.
The Nightmare rapidly twisted the empty air, manifesting a mass of white and gray energies, distorting space and warping it around Francis.
The girl was sweating and crying, her eyes filled with the utmost, most primal fear before her eyes.
"Begone… to your eternal… sleep!"
The Nightmare of Responsibility pushed its hands forward, attempting to devour Francis' existence with its attack.
"Nooooo!"
The girl cried, struggling to escape, hitting the Nightmare's arms, but to no avail…
TRUUUM!
A shockwave of energies engulfed her, trying to completely delete her from within the dream, and "send her back" where she came from.
"Mom… Sis…" Francis thought, as darkness started to engulf her. "Dad…"
CRAAASSHH!!
An explosion suddenly made Francis come back to her senses out of nowhere.
Her eyes widened, as she saw something strange.
A huge arm… made of snow, punching the Nightmare that was holding her.
RUMBLE!
The punch came accompanied by a tremendous shockwave, as the Nightmare's face shattered into pieces, falling into the snow and rolling through it.
"H-Huh?"
The little girl's eyes widened, as she saw what was standing before her eyes.
"N-No way…"
It was man made of snow, with big arms and legs, a puffy chest and large torso, and a small head, with a branch as a nose, and two rocks as eyes.
It looked at her with its stone-made eyes, extending its hand made of snow towards her, to help her stand back up.
"You're the… you're the snowman that I…"
The snowman gently petted her head, it couldn't speak, but… free𝑤ebnovel.com
But Francis felt something within this creature, this being.
Paternal love.
"Dad?!"
The snowman nodded, giving her a thumbs up.
She started crying, looking at the cold being in front of her.
"DAAAD!"
And she ran towards the snowman, hugging its legs.
"…!"
The snowman quickly and gently grabbed her, lifting her up, Francis hugged the snowman's cold body, crying and hitting him with her tiny hands.
"Dad! I missed you! W-Why did you leave?! You don't know how much I've waited for you to come back! Sniff…!"
"…"
The snowman couldn't speak, but it glanced at her with its empty, rock-like eyes, and Francis felt something, words without saying words, communication without any sort of communication at all.
"Do you promise you won't go away anymore?"
"…"
The snowman nodded, glancing at the Nightmare approaching them.
"Ah!"
Francis glanced at the Nightmare of Responsibility rapidly beginning to move towards them, its head missing wasn't a problem for it anyways.
"Y-Youu… What… are you…?! Nightmare? Why…? Why Nightmare… fights… Nightmare?!"
"…"
The Snowman gently left Francis on the ground, as its large snow fists pointed at the approaching Nightmare.
"Daddy's not a nightmare! He's dad! The superstrong snowman hero!"
The Snowman nodded many times, crossing its arms and moving its head and chest, as if laughing jovially like a hero would do.
"And he's going to beat you down for being a big bully!"
"Nonsense… Nonsense… There's… no way… A snowman?! To hurt… me?! Hah… HAHAHA… HAHAHA… HA… HA… HA…"
The Nightmare of Responsability started moving strangely, its entire body twisting around almost mechanically.
And then.
RUMBLE!
Within a mere second, it left nothing but a huge hole through the snow, reaching the snowman with its massive fists.
"GRUOOOHHH!"
And it roared like the monster it was, pretending to speak like a human.
BAAAMMM!!!
An explosive shockwave was unleashed as the Nightmare's fists clashed against the snowman's arms, Francis was blown away, rolling over the soft snow, but she quickly crawled back, glancing at the scene.
"Woah! D-Dad's holding his own!"
She gasped in disbelief, cheering for her father, as the snowman valiantly battled against the Nightmare, both were punching one another!
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
"IMPOSSIBLE…! YOU… MERE… SNOWMAN! WHAT… WHAT ARE YOU?! NIGHTMARE? YET NOT… NIGHTMARE?!"
The Nightmare of Responsibility continued growing more and more confused! Its space-warping gravitational forces seemed to barely hurt the snowman, who seemed as hard as diamonds despise being made of mere snow!
"He's not a Nightmare, dummy! I already told you he's a hero!" Said Francis with a confident smile. "He's… he's my papa! So he's super strong! And he beats anybody that bullies me!"
"NONSENSE… CHILD… SILENCE!"
The Nightmare of Responsibility ignored the snowman, rushing towards Francis.
The girl quickly panicked, her face showing despair.
And yet… the Snowman's eyes glowed with bright red light.
FLASH!
It moved through the snow, manifesting in front of the Nightmare, and pummeling it down with both of its arms, striking the Nightmare like a hammer!
CRAAASSHH!!
