Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 8: Host G
Chapter 8: Host G
A thought came to mind as she watched the movie. She remembered when the wars had started in her previous life and how she had lost half of her comrades.
The brutal and bloody battleground was still fresh in her memory. The red-masked man had led his army of zombies and mutants, while all they had were weapons she had found by chance on patrol.
Even with those weapons, they had been greatly outnumbered.
She could never forget the man's cold and heartless voice. His army had claimed lives with terrifying ease, and soon, it had felt like a mistake to take that battle in the first place.
After managing to convince the man, Qingran had succeeded in saving as many lives as she could.
But the burial ground had been filled with many new tombstones. Some had died from sickness, others in battle.
"Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we refuse to let the darkness consume us. We hold on to hope, and we honor those who gave their lives for our future. Glory to the fallen."
"Glory to the fallen!" They had chorused in unison.
Glory to the fallen.... Qingran felt like she had said those words too many times.
While a few had been saved, far too many lives had been lost.
Qingran's grip tightened around her chopsticks. The warmth of her meal had faded, replaced by the cold weight of memories pressing against her chest.
She had lived through that war, through the bloodshed, through the crushing despair of watching people she fought beside fall one after another.
And in the end, what had it all been for?
The world had still collapsed. Those who survived had lived like rats, hiding in the ruins, scavenging for whatever scraps they could find. The strong preyed on the weak, and those who had once called themselves leaders had become nothing more than tyrants.
She had tried to change things. She had tried to fight.
But no matter how hard she struggled, the apocalypse had swallowed everything whole.
This time, she wouldn't let it.
This time, she wouldn't be left scrambling for survival in a world that sought to crush her.
She exhaled slowly, setting her empty bowl aside. Her movie played on, but she wasn't paying attention anymore.
The system's notification flickered in her vision.
[Ding! Passive surveillance report available. Would Host like to view?]
Qingran sat up straighter. "Show me."
A screen materialized before her, filled with lines of the system-generated data.
[Target has remained stationary for the past three hours. No outward signs of activity detected. Monitoring continues.]
Her brows furrowed. Three hours without movement? Either this person was skilled at avoiding detection, or they were simply waiting for her to make a move.
She clicked her tongue.
They could wait all they wanted. She wasn't playing their game.
"Keep watching. If they make any sudden changes, notify me immediately."
[Ding! Understood.]
Pushing herself off the couch, she rolled her shoulders and stretched. The exhaustion from earlier still clung to her limbs, but it was manageable.
***************************************
[Ding! Host is idle while Host G is busy making moves!]
The man glanced at the bubble as he took off his clothes, he didn't need to hurry and stockpile. He was rich, he didn't have to worry about anyone tracking his movement.
He could get whatever he needed in one day.
"I don't think I need to worried.."
"..."
[Ding! Sure because you're the great Red Mask! Yet you lost your life in the hands of a woman..]
"..."
"She was...fearsome, she had this strong gaze, I didn't know when her blade cut through my chest....and I didn't mind either.."
"...."
[Ding! Host seems to be in love with that woman!]
The man didn't deny, the main reason he ever stockpiled was so he could have enough to feed and protect her.
"Caocao how far has the construction of the fortress gone?"
The main reason he had managed to survive during the apocalypse was because of the prison he had stumbled into.
Now in this new one, he was building a stronger and better one.
[Ding! fortress progress tracked. Fortress is at 50% completion]
The man nodded, with 26 days left to the apocalypse, he had time to play around and find out who this host G was.

The shrill ringing of the alarm cut through the silence of the room. Gu Qingran's eyes snapped open.
Darkness still filled the room, but the glowing numbers on her clock read 6:30 AM. She reached out, silencing the alarm with a practiced motion before sitting up.
For a moment, she simply stared at the faint outline of her surroundings. The weight of past memories clung to her, the remnants of war and loss surfacing like ghosts in the night. But she pushed them down. Now wasn't the time to dwell.
She slipped out of bed, moving through the motions of her morning routine. A quick shower, a fresh set of clothes, nothing out of the ordinary.
Just another apocalypse free day.
The system notification flickered in the corner of her vision.
[Ding! Surveillance report: Target remained inactive throughout the night. No movements detected.]
Qingran's fingers paused as she tied her hair back. No movement? That didn't mean the threat had passed, only that they were waiting.
She clicked her tongue.
The system had told her to lie low. That meant no unusual purchases, no drastic changes in her behavior.
It wasn't time to act out yet.
For now, she was still Gu Qingran, an ordinary pharmaceutical scientist heading to work.
"I'll just find a means to get medical supplies when I get to work. Lu Zhao should be able to help with that..though it's probably going to drain out my savings.."
Medical supplies were expensive, 1 drug could cost up to a million but since she could create these drugs herself, all she had to do was buy few already made ones and buy more materials to make them herself later when the apocalypse had started.
