Rebirth: Top Actress, Your Big Shot Husband is Jealous Again!-Chapter 814: Stop Letting Mason Investigate—Nothing Will Be Found; Michael Green and Chloe Johnson Are Already Dead
She never imagined that the adoptive parents she called mom and dad for over a decade were actually her biological parents.
They gave birth to her, only to abandon her.
If they chose to take her back when she was five, why abandon her again?
Even to the extent of faking their deaths?
Bella Green only felt her life was like a play, a ridiculous and melodramatic farce...
The person in front trembled slightly, seemingly crying, but unwilling to turn around.
"You’ve got the wrong person."
Listening to that hoarse voice, Bella Green laughed.
"Will you mistake me too?"
A child would never fail to recognize their parents, nor would parents fail to recognize their child.
The woman fell silent for a moment, then continued, "Pretend you never met me. Don’t let Mason investigate any further. You won’t find anything. Michael Green and Chloe Johnson are dead."
After speaking, without waiting for Bella Green’s reaction, she quickly ran to the roadside, hailed a taxi, and left.
Bella Green was stunned, wanting to chase after, but couldn’t flag down a vehicle in time.
The girl bit her lip tightly, staring at the vehicle disappearing from view.
After catching a taxi, Bella Green went directly to Nathan Bennett.
...
Arriving at Nathan Bennett’s, Bella Green got out of the car and dashed into the building.
She moved so quickly that the receptionist had no time to react.
But even in a daze, she recognized Bella Green and waved off the security.
Heading upstairs, Bella Green was still in a bit of a trance.
Exiting the elevator.
Sophia Latham saw her, her eyes brightened; she was about to greet Bella, but then saw her storm straight into the office.
The loud noise caused the working Mason Bennett to lift his head, ready to rebuke, but he froze.
Bella Green pushed open the door, her body swayed, and then she desperately walked towards him.
Her state frightened Mason Bennett, he quickly put down his pen and strode over.
He looked her over for injuries, and seeing none, he embraced her gently, patting her back lightly.
"What’s wrong?" His voice was soft, soothing, and comforting.
Sophia Latham stood at the doorway, her head down, afraid to look inside, and quietly closed the door that Bella Green had swung open.
Leaning into Mason Bennett’s arms, having run all the way, Bella Green now only felt a weakness in her legs.
"I saw her, it was really her, really her."
Bella Green closed her eyes, her voice hoarse, repeating endlessly.
Mason Bennett’s gaze darkened; although Bella Green hadn’t mentioned who, he could somewhat guess.
Swinging her up in his arms, Mason Bennett walked to the couch and sat down, letting her sit on his lap as if cradling a child, soothingly stroking her back.
"Did they come to find you?"
Bella Green’s throat emitted a choking sound; she nodded, then shook her head.
"She follows me, but won’t let me see her."
Watching the girl’s sad and pained expression, Mason Bennet’s face grew colder and more grim.
Though they were her parents, Mason Bennett couldn’t help but resent them.
If it weren’t for them, why would Bella Green have to endure so much pain and grievance?
"We’ll find them," he softly promised.
Upon hearing this, Bella Green clutched Mason Bennett’s collar, her heart aching, contorting her small face.
"She said not to let you keep investigating, said Michael Green and Chloe Johnson are already dead."
While speaking, Bella Green couldn’t help but laugh, even she didn’t know why she was laughing.
Perhaps laughing at herself, having such an absurd life.
