Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 597: You will only be disappointed
Collin took a slow step toward her.
Kathrine instinctively leaned back, her breath hitching as her fingers curled tightly around the armrest, as though it were the only thing keeping her grounded.
He noticed.
Of course he did.
A smirk crept onto his lips, but there was nothing warm about it. If anything, it made him look more dangerous, more unhinged.
"Do you really think they will choose you?" he asked, his voice low, almost curious as he tilted his head and studied her.
Kathrine said nothing.
She could not.
Her throat felt tight, her voice trapped somewhere deep inside her chest. But her silence only seemed to provoke him further.
The smirk vanished.
His expression hardened in an instant.
"They should have answered by now!" he snapped, his voice echoing sharply through the confined space.
He turned away abruptly, dragging both hands through his hair as frustration bled through every movement. His pacing began again, uneven and restless, like a predator caged for too long.
Seconds passed.
Then more.
Each one stretched unbearably, thick with tension that seemed to press down on Kathrine’s chest.
Collin exhaled sharply, but it did nothing to calm him. If anything, it made him look worse.
More unstable.
More dangerous.
Every passing moment without a response was pushing him closer to the edge, and Kathrine could feel it deep in her bones.
He was losing control.
And a man like Collin without control was far more terrifying than anything else.
Just when the silence became suffocating, a sudden chuckle slipped from his throat.
Kathrine froze.
The sound was wrong. Too calm. Too amused.
Slowly, he turned back to her, the faint smile still lingering on his lips, though it did not reach his eyes.
"Then I guess I will have to give them proof," he said softly.
The smile faded.
His eyes turned cold.

Back at Norma’s place, the atmosphere was no less suffocating.
"We cannot keep delaying this," Anna said suddenly, her voice cutting through the heavy silence.
Everyone looked at her.
They all knew she was right.
But knowing and acting were two very different things.
They needed to convince Collin that his demands had been met, yet none of them could guarantee what would happen even if they did.
"And what guarantee do we have that he will spare Kathrine?" Norma shot back, her tone sharp but laced with fear. "How do you know he will not go back on his word?"
Her gaze swept across the room.
"Collin is not someone we can trust."
The words hung heavily in the air.
Anna clenched her jaw. Sitting still was impossible now. She pushed herself up from her seat, restless energy coursing through her.
She was about to speak when suddenly every phone in the room buzzed at once.
The sharp beeping sound broke the silence.
Everyone stilled.
Their eyes met, unease flickering between them.
Then Anna looked down at her phone.
The moment she saw the caller, her eyes widened in shock.
The screen lit up.
"Surprise..."
Collin’s voice echoed through the room, followed by a low laugh that sent a chill down their spines.
"You still thought I was joking? Fine."
Anna’s brows knitted together as she quickly glanced around. Every single person had received the same video.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she focused back on the screen.
"I am giving you one hour," Collin continued, his voice calm in a way that made it even more terrifying. "If you do not fulfill my demand, then..."
The camera shifted.
A collective gasp filled the room.
Kathrine appeared on the screen.
She stood inside what looked like a large, empty container.
At first glance, it seemed harmless.
But then Anna noticed it.
The faint movement at the bottom.
Water.
Slowly rising.
A shallow breath escaped her lips.
"This is not an ordinary container," she whispered, dread pooling in her chest.
On the screen, Collin’s voice returned, almost amused.
"I thought you would agree without forcing me to commit another sin," he said lightly. "But since I have already done so many... what is one more?"
The sound of his grin was enough to make Ethan snap.
"That bastard!" he roared, slamming his phone down in fury.
But it did not stop.
The same video continued playing from the other devices, Collin’s laughter echoing in the room like a curse.
"I know you are angry," Collin went on, his tone almost mocking. "But you left me with no choice."
He leaned closer to the camera.
It felt as if he was staring directly at each of them.
"Do as I say," he whispered. "Or else."
The screen went black.
Silence followed.
Heavy.
Crushing.
Ethan’s chest rose and fell rapidly, his mind racing with one terrifying thought.
They had seen it.
They had all seen it.
If they did nothing...
Kathrine would die.
"This is not happening," he muttered, shaking his head as if refusing to accept it. "I am not letting anything happen to her."
Without wasting another second, he turned and strode toward the door.
But before he could take another step, Anna’s voice stopped him.
"And you think you will find her just like that?"
Ethan froze.
Slowly, he turned back, confusion and frustration written all over his face.
Tracing Collin should have been easy.
That was what he believed.
But the look on Anna’s face shattered that illusion.
His stomach dropped.
"You already traced him?" he asked.
Anna nodded, her expression grim.
"The number Collin used to contact you was a dummy," she said. "One of many. He discarded it long ago."
The words hit hard.
Ethan’s fists clenched.
Anna continued, recalling the conversation she had earlier.
"Even now, Shawn is trying to track him through the video," she added quietly. "But the connection..."
She paused.
Her gaze lowered slightly.
"It breaks the moment the video ends."
Silence fell again.
Only this time, it felt heavier.
"No matter where you go looking for him, you will only be disappointed."
