Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 562: How did Roseline knew Norma
"Nothing. I mean... it was just stress that got to me," Marcus said with a short laugh, deliberately looking away from Ethan.
Ethan did not respond immediately. Instead, he continued eating calmly, though his eyes remained fixed on his father.
"Then why erase such a minor incident from the hospital database?" Ethan asked.
Marcus stilled.
For a moment, he refused to look up from his plate.
Across the table, Ethan quietly observed him. This was something he had never seen before.
Marcus had always been a man who held his gaze firmly, someone who never avoided eye contact during a conversation. Yet now he seemed hesitant, almost uncomfortable.
That alone made Ethan certain that something was being hidden.
"Care to explain, Dad?" Ethan said after a pause. "Otherwise I will assume there is more to this than you are telling me."
Marcus finally lifted his head when he heard the conviction in Ethan’s voice.
"W-What is there to explain?" Marcus replied, forcing his tone to remain steady. "You clearly know I cannot allow my rivals to find out that I was sick."
Ethan’s brows drew together as he listened.
That had already been one of the possibilities he had considered before coming here. Still, as he studied his father more closely, he noticed something else.
Marcus had lost weight.
It was not extremely obvious, but the change was there. His face appeared slightly leaner than before, and the sharpness around his jawline had become more noticeable.
Marcus noticed Ethan’s silence and continued speaking. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"You know how many people are constantly looking for a chance to bring down the empire I built," Marcus said firmly. "If they come across even the slightest sign that I am weak, they will not hesitate to use it against me."
Ethan leaned back slightly in his chair.
"You think they are foolish enough to come after you over something as simple as fainting?" he asked.
Marcus remained completely serious.
"One word is enough to make or destroy everything you have spent years building, Ethan," he said. "Rumors travel faster than truth, and once people begin to doubt your strength, they will not stop until they see you fall."
He paused briefly before adding,
"So if you think I am being unreasonable, then so be it."
Ethan looked at his father quietly, his expression unreadable as he continued studying the man sitting across from him.

Meanwhile, Kathrine was summoned by Hugo in Roseline’s absence, which immediately raised several questions in her mind.
The message had been brief, asking her to visit him alone. Considering everything that had been happening lately, she could not help but wonder about the reason behind it.
After what Anna had told her about Roseline secretly meeting Collin, along with the recordings that had come to light, Kathrine had already begun forming her own suspicions. Because of that, she assumed this sudden meeting might be related to the same matter.
When she arrived, Hugo greeted her with an unexpected gentleness.
"I am sorry if I bothered you, Kathrine," he said in an apologetic tone.
The sincerity in his voice caught her off guard for a moment.
Kathrine looked at him with slight surprise, but she quickly recovered from it. Ever since Hugo had suffered his heart attack, his demeanor had changed. He had become more sensitive and thoughtful in ways she had never seen before.
Now that she had completely moved into Ethan’s place, Hugo had started making an effort to check on her himself. It was rare for him to do something like that in the past.
But lately, his concern seemed to extend beyond simple courtesy.
Whenever he spoke with her, he would often ask about how she was doing, how things were going with Ethan, and sometimes even about Anna. It was clear that he was trying to stay connected with the people around him in a way he never had before.
This shift in his behavior was something Kathrine had not expected.
For most of her life, Hugo had been distant and difficult to approach. Conversations with him had always felt formal, almost transactional, leaving little room for genuine warmth.
But now, things seemed different.
Kathrine could not say whether this change had come from the fear of losing his life during the heart attack or from the realization that he had neglected many relationships over the years.
Whatever the reason was, she was slowly trying to understand this new side of her father.
More importantly, she was trying to give him the chance to see things differently and perhaps rebuild what had long been broken between them.
"So why did you call me, Dad?" Kathrine finally asked once her thoughts settled.
Hugo looked up at her and smiled faintly. Seeing her standing there, confident and composed, brought him a quiet sense of relief. Yet at the same time, a part of him could not help but feel regret for many things he had done in the past.
"I hope everything is going well at the company," Hugo said. "I heard the new chairwoman has been giving you a hard time."
Although Hugo had stepped down from his position, he still remained informed about the company. Ben regularly kept him updated, just as he always had.
Norma had not only uncovered his secret but had also placed him in a position where returning to power was no longer possible. The damage had already been done. Even if he tried to reclaim his authority, no one would truly believe him now.
Yet despite everything, he was relieved about one thing.
Kathrine had not been dragged down with him.
She had been given the chance to remain in the company and continue her work.
Kathrine observed her father carefully. His concern seemed genuine, but she immediately understood how he was able to stay informed about what was happening in the company.
Ben.
The realization crossed her mind instantly.
"She does try to intimidate me sometimes," Kathrine replied calmly. "But you know me. I am not someone who gets easily shaken."
She folded her hands lightly as she continued.
"I simply do not want anyone to walk over me, Dad. I would rather let my work speak for itself. And I am sure Madam Norma will understand that."
The moment Norma’s name was mentioned, Hugo forced a smile before his thoughts drifted elsewhere.
His mind returned to the conversation that had taken place during the tea party.
He had clearly heard every word exchanged between Norma and Roseline that day.
But one particular detail had caught his attention.
How did Roseline know Norma?
Hugo distinctly remembered an earlier conversation with his wife. When he had once mentioned Norma’s name before, Roseline had reacted with confusion. She had agreed with him that neither of them knew such a person.
Yet yesterday evening, Roseline had openly confirmed that she knew Norma.
The sudden change made no sense.
Hugo’s expression grew thoughtful.
How was that possible?
