Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant-Chapter 474: Isn’t this the Chu Family’s young lady, why has she come back again?
Jian Weizhe wasn’t angry; he picked up his bag and followed them.
Once the three were in the car, Jian Weizhe asked, "Now that you’re back, when should we all get together?"
Upon hearing this, Huo Jingrui looked directly at Yunyi.
This subconscious movement caught Jian Weizhe’s eye, and he couldn’t help but tsk-tsk to himself. Indeed, there’s a lid for every pot. To think the man who once didn’t understand romance is now so considerate of his fiancée!
This was indeed big news. As soon as he got back, he’d find someone to chew the fat with. After all, shared joy is double joy, and such important news naturally had to be shared with everyone.
Jian Weizhe drove them straight to the main road outside the Chu Family home. Yunyi, feeling somewhat embarrassed, said, "Thank you for your trouble today. It’s not convenient for guests at home right now, so I won’t invite you in. I’ll treat you to a meal another day."
Jian Weizhe smiled broadly. "No problem, no problem. You go ahead and handle your affairs. We can meet up another time."
Watching Jian Weizhe drive away, Yunyi then turned to Huo Jingrui. "If you’re busy, go ahead. You don’t need to keep accompanying me. Even if he really is my grandfather’s long-lost brother, it won’t make any difference to me. At most, it’s just one more set of relatives I’m not familiar with. Don’t worry."
Huo Jingrui couldn’t be at ease. After all, this family showing up at this particular time was inherently suspicious. "Nothing is more important than your affairs. I’ll stay with you."
Seeing his determination to follow, Yunyi said nothing more and walked straight into the alley.
Just as they entered, they ran into their Chu Family neighbor, Jiao Yanni, the Chen family’s second daughter-in-law. "Well, if it isn’t the Chu Family’s young lady! What brings you back?"
Yunyi heard the question but didn’t answer, instead asking, "Are you going out, Second Sister-in-law Chen?"
Jiao Yanni was not a kind person. She had often badmouthed Yunyi, partly because she felt the Chu Family spoiled the original Yunyi too much. Another reason was that Jiao Yanni had once approached the Du Family, hoping they would teach her younger sister a foreign language alongside Yunyi, but the Du Family had refused.
From then on, Jiao Yanni not only resented the Du Family but also came to dislike Yunyi.
Seeing Yunyi hadn’t answered her question, Jiao Yanni suddenly remembered something she’d heard a few days ago. With a hint of schadenfreude, she said, "I heard Old Master Chu’s blood brother has come with his family. You’re not back to acknowledge these relatives, are you?"
Yunyi gave her a cold look. "Instead of worrying about that, Second Sister-in-law Chen, you’d be better off minding your own family’s affairs. The Chu Family’s business is no concern of yours."
With that said, she walked past Jiao Yanni.
Jiao Yanni, incensed by Yunyi’s attitude, retorted, "Chu Family’s young lady, those people who came to your door are Old Master Chu’s blood relatives! You, an adopted daughter, are not a true member of the Chu Family."
Seeing Yunyi ignore her, Jiao Yanni muttered to herself, "Hmph! Let’s see how long you can stay smug."
Back in the car, Yunyi had already considered these possibilities. Jiao Yanni’s suspicions weren’t entirely unfounded. If the visitors truly were Old Master Chu’s own brother, arriving with family in tow, it was highly likely they were after the Chu Family’s assets. However, everything would have to wait until she met them in person.
As they neared the Chu Family home, they saw quite a few people standing out front. Someone was asking, "Are you really Doctor Chu’s relatives?"
A woman’s voice declared, "Of course! My husband is his biological nephew. My father-in-law is the man you all call Doctor Chu’s own brother—born of the same mother."
Then someone else asked, "Old Master Chu lived here for decades. Why didn’t you come looking for him before? Why wait until after he passed away to show up?"
