Rebirth: Regaining Joyful Moments-Chapter 1099 - 1101: Thankfully, You’re Here with Me
"Don’t be afraid, I’m Wan Hongxing, Yijian’s mother, Yicheng’s stepmother," Wan Hongxing explained in a low voice.
"Aunt Wan? Why are you here too? Where is this place?"
Upon hearing a familiar voice, Xu Nianhua instinctively moved closer to Wan Hongxing. Knowing she had fainted, they hadn’t tied her up, allowing her to grope her way forward.
"I was delivering chicken soup to Yining and ended up nearby. On the way home, I saw your car accident. I wanted the driver to help, but when I saw it was you, suddenly a few people appeared out of nowhere and knocked me out. When I woke up, I was here," Wan Hongxing explained, initially thinking it was just an accident until she saw Xu Nianhua and then got knocked out herself.
"Aunt Wan, I’m sorry for getting you involved," Xu Nianhua said, lowering her eyes in guilt before asking, "Aunt Wan, are you tied up?"
"Yes, my hands and feet are tied," Wan Hongxing responded, feeling Xu Nianhua draw closer. She comforted her, "Don’t worry, we’ll definitely get back safely."
"I’m not afraid, Aunt Wan. Let me untie your ropes and see if I can undo them."
In the dark, Xu Nianhua could only rely on her sense of touch. Fortunately, the knots weren’t difficult to untie, and she quickly freed Wan Hongxing. The two sat huddled together. In the darkness, they felt much more at ease. Xu Nianhua pondered in her heart, wondering who she might have offended to warrant being kidnapped.
After thinking for a while, Xu Nianhua remembered Wa Lei. When Wa Lei left, the look of hatred in his eyes was clear, his teeth clenched tightly. However, she’d heard the Wa Family was moving away. Could Wa Lei still do something like this?
She found it unlikely.
"Aunt Wan, has Yining been very busy recently too?" Xu Nianhua asked, as the room was too dark.
"Yes, it seems Yining has been participating in a photography exhibition and is taking pictures everywhere. When I brought her the chicken soup, she kept complaining about you being too busy," Wan Hongxing chuckled softly, her voice gentle and carrying a reassuring strength in the darkness.
"Yining has never had many friends since she was little. You’re probably her best one," Wan Hongxing sighed.
Xu Nianhua asked, "Why not? Yining is so outgoing, she should have had lots of friends."
"Though Yining may seem outgoing, when she was six, her biological mother passed away, and she fell seriously ill afterwards. Later, when she went to school, she didn’t get close to people," Wan Hongxing reminisced about Pei Yining’s amusing childhood.
For instance, when Pei Yining was young, she was like a tomboy.
Xu Nianhua asked in disbelief, "Aunt Wan, how could it be? Was Yining a tomboy when she was young?" No wonder there are no childhood photos of Yining.
"Before she was ten, she was a real tomboy. Then, in junior high, she started growing her hair out and became more gentle. She seemed to get along with everyone but had few friends who truly touched her heart." Wan Hongxing explained, recalling an incident in Yining’s junior high. She became close with a friend who secretly gossiped about Yining behind her back, calling her a careless tomboy.
That’s why Pei Yining later became reluctant to make friends.
"Aunt Wan, Yining is lucky to have you," Xu Nianhua suddenly said, realizing that had it not been for Wan Hongxing, such a gentle woman accompanying Yining as she grew up, Pei Yining might not be as innocent and happy today.
