Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord-Chapter 1926: Returning to the Original Owner
It turns out these guards were scared of punishment and purposely put on a show for the Prime Minister!
The normally spacious front gate was blocked today by rows of corpses, and when the Prime Minister came out, he was shocked and terrified.
He knew well what was going on with these men in black. Obviously, the assassination plot against Situtu Xueer had failed. However, these despicable acts couldn’t be brought to light, nor could they be admitted.
"Guard Long, what do you mean by bringing so many dead bodies to my residence early in the morning? Let me tell you, don’t rely on the War Prince’s backing to bully us excessively."
Looking at the mountain of corpses, the Prime Minister was secretly startled. It seemed that the men in black he sent out had been completely wiped out. But why would Long Yi deliver the corpses to his residence? Could it be that they already knew he was the mastermind?
Long Yi held a cucumber in his hand, munching on it crunchily. As he ate, he walked over to the Prime Minister and said with a mocking smile, "Prime Minister, I’m merely returning things to their owner. Do you want to count and sign for them?"
"Wha... what are you saying? I don’t understand."
"Whether you truly understand or pretend not to understand, I’ve delivered the people here. Prime Minister, farewell."
Long Yi cupped his hand and swiftly turned around, jumping onto his carriage and leaving.
Watching the departing silhouette of the carriage.
The Prime Minister was dumbfounded. He never imagined that Long Yi would just leave the corpses and say nothing more. When he saw the corpses earlier, he had prepared many excuses, but none of them could be used. The people from the War Prince’s Mansion simply left.
"Don’t bully us too much! How dare you transport so many dead bodies to the Prime Minister’s residence? Let me tell you, our residence is not a Mass Grave." The Prime Minister regained his composure and immediately jumped with anger.
The steward frowned and came forward to ask, "Prime Minister, what should we do with so many dead bodies?"
"Just bury them, what else can we do?"
The Prime Minister was furious. The actions of the War Prince’s Mansion indicated that his scheme had been exposed. From now on, he had officially offended the War Prince. Before, when he saw the War Prince, he would feign politeness; now, it was no longer necessary to put on an act.
At the entrance of the Prime Minister’s residence, many onlookers had gathered, pointing fingers at the Prime Minister and discussing in hushed tones.
Although the Prime Minister couldn’t hear clearly, he knew they weren’t speaking kindly. To save face, he loudly declared, "The War Prince’s Mansion bullies too much! I will soon go to the Imperial Palace to file a complaint. Don’t think the War Prince is so great; I am the Emperor’s father-in-law. Am I afraid of him, a mere War Prince?"
Having said that, he turned and strode back into the residence.
In truth, the Prime Minister was inwardly anxious! This failed mission not only offended the War Prince but also left him uncertain whether any evidence remained in the War Prince’s hands.
The more the Prime Minister thought, the more alarmed he became. Returning to his room, he immediately sent someone out to gather information.
After the Prime Minister left, the crowd exchanged glances and then began discussing again...
"The Prime Minister is really thick-skinned; doing such despicable things and still having the face to complain to the Emperor."
"Because he is the Emperor’s father-in-law."
"It’s absolute lawlessness!"
"It’s said that the War Prince wasn’t in his mansion last night. If he had been, he might have come over last night and dismantled the Prime Minister’s residence. The Prime Minister wouldn’t have been able to act so arrogant."
"Yes, relying on his status as Imperial Kinsmen to do whatever he pleases. Pah, even filing complaints! Tomorrow he should be ready to receive a flood of letters of protest!"
"Ah hahahaha...!"
The crowd erupted in a bout of satisfied laughter.
