Chapter 43: Your boyfriend is stacked!

Lixue blushed, tugging at the hem of Mo Ran’s shirt. "I wasn’t planning to go out in this," she muttered.

Mo Ran smirked, his eyes flicking briefly over her. "Good. That shirt is for my eyes only."

She glared at him, her cheeks heating up even more. "Don’t you have work or something to do?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

He adjusted his tie, his expression becoming more serious. "I do. I have a flight to catch later. But first, I’ll drop you off at the mall."

"The mall?" she echoed, surprised.

"Yes. I ordered some clothes for you earlier—they should be here shortly. You can’t go in that," he said, nodding at the oversized shirt she was wearing.

Before Lixue could protest, a knock sounded at the door. Mo Ran walked over and retrieved the package from the waiting staff. He handed it to her with a smirk.

"Go change. I’ll wait."

Lixue returned a few minutes later, wearing the outfit he’d chosen—a simple yet elegant ensemble: a fitted blouse, high-waisted jeans, and ankle boots. She tugged at the sleeves self-consciously.

Mo Ran gave her an approving look. "Better!."

She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help feeling a little more confident in the new clothes. "Let’s go, then," she said, grabbing her bag.

In the car, Mo Ran’s focus was on the road, but he occasionally glanced at her. "Who are you meeting at the mall?" he asked casually.

"Red and some others," she replied, looking out the window.

"Red?"

"She’s a trainee like me," Lixue explained. "She’s... energetic, and she invited me out to shop. Thought it might be a good chance to unwind before my performance."

Mo Ran hummed, his tone unreadable. "Do you need money?"

She blinked, startled by the sudden question. "What? No, I’m fine."

"Take this, just in case." He pulled out his wallet and handed her a black card.

"I said I’m fine!" Lixue protested, her cheeks heating up.

"Humor me, Mrs Mo," he said, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "Consider it an investment in my wife’s public image."

She rolled her eyes but reluctantly accepted the card. "You’re seriously...."

Mo Ran chuckled, pulling up to the entrance of Chang’an Mall. He glanced at her as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

"Call me when you’re done," he said, his voice firm. "I’ll have someone pick you up."

Lixue hesitated before nodding. "Alright. Safe trip, Mo Ran."

For a moment, his expression softened. "Thank you. Have fun."

As she stepped out of the car, Lixue watched him drive off, her mind whirling. Mo Ran was a constant contradiction—frustrating and considerate all at once.

Shaking her head, she turned and walked toward the mall entrance, already spotting Red waving enthusiastically from a distance.

Beside her were Blue and Sunflower, the trio exuding an air of effortless camaraderie that immediately put Lixue at ease.

"YL! You’re finally here!" Red called, practically skipping over to her.

"Sorry for the delay," Lixue said with a small smile. "I got held up."

Blue’s smiled her sharp eyes and sophisticated attire, gave Lixue a once-over and smirked. "Fashionably late, I see. But you’re forgiven since you look so cute today."

"Welcome, YL!" Sunflower said warmly, her soft voice and sunny smile making Lixue feel like she’d known her forever. "We’re so excited to have you join us. Though it was Red’s idea you come along."

"Thank you.." Lixue smiled.

Red looped her arm through Lixue’s, tugging her toward the entrance. "Come on! We’ve got a ton of stores to hit. This is going to be so much fun!"

Inside the mall, the energy was infectious. Red darted from store to store, grabbing clothes and accessories that caught her eye, while Blue and Sunflower trailed behind, offering more measured suggestions.

"Try this one!" Red said, holding up a bold red dress with intricate lace detailing.

Lixue blinked. "That’s... a bit much, isn’t it?"

"Nonsense! You have to try it!" Red insisted, pushing her toward the fitting room.

Sunflower giggled. "She’s relentless, isn’t she? But I have to agree this would do good on you"

"She’s like this with all of us," Blue added with a smirk. "You’ll get used to it but I also agree"

".."

Lixue had no choice but to take the dress and end to the fitting room.

When Lixue emerged from the fitting room wearing the dress, the trio froze.

"YL..." Red said, her jaw dropping. "You look absolutely stunning!"

Blue nodded in approval. "It’s bold, but it suits you. You should wear red more often."

Sunflower clapped her hands together. "You’re glowing! You have to get this dress. You look effortlessly good in it and it really brings out your shape!"

Lixue blushed under their praise, smoothing her hands over the fabric. "It’s a bit out of my comfort zone, but... I do like it."

"Then it’s settled!" Red declared. "We’re buying it!"

Lixue nodded and brought her card to pay, she wasn’t intending to pay with Mo Ran’s card but the process of bringing her own card, the black debit card had shown.

"Woah...YL you’re packed, I haven’t seen a black card up close yet.."

"...."

Lixue blinked as she shoved the care back into her purse and made with her own card, when she was done, she turned to the girls "This is also my first time holding it and it doesn’t belong to me.."

"..."

"Wow! YL your boyfriend must be stacked, if it doesn’t belong to you then it’s definitely he’s.."

Blue smiled as they walked out of the store, Lixue had bought a scarf to cover her face just in case, she ran into anyone from the Yu family and it happened the very next minute.

"Let’s try out this store, my older sister recommended it and said their gowns are nice.."

The girls nodded and they followed Blue into the store.

When they got in, they had to agree that Blue’s older sister really did know her stuff.

"The dresses here are amazing.."

Lixue muttered as one of the assistant came to meet them.

"Good day ladies, welcome to Chang’an frontier, how can I help you?"

Lixue nodded and returned a smile, before saying "I think were just going to browse.."

The shop assistant nodded and lead them to a starting section "You can start off from here, if you need anything else, I’m right over at that corner.."
