Rebirth in the 50s: The Couple with the Hidden Space-Chapter 562 - 443: Joyful Grasslands (Part 2)
After a hearty meal, everyone burped and laughed heartily.
"I’m stuffed! We’ve eaten the meat, so what shall we do next?"
Zhou Jiao quickly took out a fishing net, "Let’s go fishing. The cold-water fish here are quite famous. Let’s catch some to take back."
Fang Fei saw this and quickly urged her to put it away. If those animals saw it, the net would surely get snatched away.
"Let’s go. We won’t wait for them. Little Radish, you guard the stuff and wait for them to come over."
"Go ahead. As soon as I hand over the goods, I’ll be right there."
A group of people took off running, with Zhang Guoqing quickly carrying Zhou Jiao to follow. He couldn’t afford not to run as Yi Jiefang would gobble him up. He had come out this morning without notifying him.
This time, everyone got smart and took all the burlap sacks.
Zhou Jiao rolled her eyes at the sight. These people really had no clue, thinking that bringing more sacks would result in a bigger harvest. Then she laughed out loud, feeling relieved that she no longer had to worry about her father running out of fish.
At the riverbank, everyone took turns casting the net, walking all the way upstream. They couldn’t do anything about the meat, but surely could handle the fish. Who else was as underhanded as them to use a big net for fishing?
After filling ten bags they brought along, there was no more room to carry the catch. They sent someone to call for backup.
Soon, more people came over with another batch of burlap sacks.
Zhang Guoqing quickly took Zhou Jiao to leave. This mechanical fishing had lost its fun; he might as well take his woman out for some fun.
Over there, cries of success were heard again; it seemed another harvest was made. Walking ahead and not far away, indeed, the "brother soldiers" were there packing the wild game with a group of small partners.
Yi Jiefang and a few others spotted the couple, ran over quickly, and grabbed Zhang Guoqing, giving him a good pounding. "Let you run away, let you accompany your wife."
After playing around for a while, everyone was unanimous in not wanting to act as porters. They agreed to find Mu, the designated guide, to lead them hunting.
Having a local acquaintance was great. Leaving the areas where bullets flew, Mu brought a cart with two hunting rifles on it. About a dozen young people followed him, full of vigor, heading off to hunt yellow sheep. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The meat, the much-coveted meat; after walking for about an hour, just as everyone was about to despair and die of exhaustion, they finally reached the so-called destination.
Zhou Jiao felt tears welling up. How foolish she was to move with these silly folks. She had plenty of yellow sheep in her space; why follow these wild ones?
Look at this, how many animals have been scared away by so many people! It’s such a sin. How could she be so senseless, running along exhaustedly? She severely despised these fellows; were they here to drive wild animals or hunt them?
After Zhang Guoqing had had enough fun, he finally pulled Mu, who was smiling wryly aside, to cooperate in doing the hard work, letting these guys guard his wife and the cart while they returned.
Mu said the closer they got to the forest, the more animals there were. After a while, he was dumbfounded. Turns out the master was here. Could he secretly learn a couple of moves?
With Zhang Guoqing’s increasingly fast pace in knocking down wild animals, he looked up at the sky, feeling this was the master’s homeland? Surely he won’t forget the way home?
On the way back, Mu carried a 300-pound red deer on his back, speeding quietly. He truly couldn’t make small buddies anymore; although he was the most outstanding talent and hunter in the village, his long-held confidence was shattered by the animals behind him.
Who could tell him why there were such monsters in this world? Where did the monster carrying four or five hundred pounds, with hands each dragging four or five hundred pounds, come from?
Monster Zhang stunned all his little companions, didn’t he?
Yi Jiefang foolishly pointed at him, speechless... After a while, he secretly asked Zhou Jiao, "Is your man skilled in inner strength?"
Zhou Jiao nodded seriously. She confidently told him that not only did Zhang Xiaowu excel in inner strength, but his qinggong was even more remarkable. Once the opportunity arrives, leaping lightly from here to Beijing would be child’s play.
Yi Jiefang was so irritated by the couple that he stammered for a long time, pointed a finger at Zhou Jiao, and praised her: "I don’t know about your man’s martial arts, but your qigong must have reached perfection. Look at you blowing cows into the air. This qigong is indeed impressive!"
Zhou Jiao blinked and gazed into the distance, exclaiming, "Masters are too lonely! The height is bitterly cold. You too should hurry to practice qigong well."
Wan Dayong listened and laughed while covering his mouth.
Yi Jiefang rolled his eyes and decided to follow Zhang Xiaowu. He needed to witness the real masters as qigong couldn’t hunt big chunks of meat.
Four or five people ran back and forth with Zhang Guoqing twice, hunting prey that weighed down the cart nearly to collapse, finally stopping satisfied. On the return, they had to find someone to drive over again.
A real big harvest indeed, letting these young fellows finish moving the meat back to camp in high spirits, unconcerned about the buddies still moving prey. Mu took Zhang Guoqing and his wife, Yi Jiefang, Wan Dayong, Ding Datou, the five of them sneakily away, changed clothes, and ran into the tribe.
Finally tasting authentic hand-ripped rice and roasted lamb, the five who were starving felt like crying. It was truly not easy!
Having eaten until she was satisfied, Zhou Jiao, unconcerned with the others, ran into the courtyard, grabbed the lady owner, chatting happily while following her to her room.
She bought up all their cheese, all their inventory; as for the cost in money and food coupons, it didn’t bother her at all. Who knows when they’d return next, if ever? If not for the owner’s objection to disturbing the remaining lambs, she’d have taken them all. Public ownership was too annoying, right?
Zhang Guoqing found an excuse to send things back to the Northeast, leaving behind his buddies still eating and drinking, stealthily pulling the cart to the local post office.
The whole journey didn’t take an hour, leaving Zhou Jiao marveling. Especially reminiscing the days of raw newbies, now they had become seasoned veterans.
