Chapter 548 -548: Where are the two or three “no”s? (2nd update!)
Under the Void-Breaking Divine Eye, Sun Wukong distinctly saw a wisp of dark aura flickering on Jiang Liu’er’s forehead, a sign of an impending blood disaster. In Sun Wukong’s view, this was naturally the best opportunity to naturally come into contact with Jiang Liu’er.
Just as Sun Wukong had expected, Jiang Liu’er’s disaster of blood and light descended upon him soon after.

The abbot of Golden Mountain Temple was invited to the city to preach and brought along Jiang Liu’er and another young monk. However, upon their return after the sermon, they encountered highwaymen on the mountain path.
“Old monk, hand over your gold, silver, and jewels if you know what’s good for you, or this place will become your grave today!”
The lead bandit, a masked brute wielding a shining steel blade, pointed it menacingly at the abbot and Jiang Liu’er, threatening viciously. The other young monk had already been shot dead by an arrow at the outset.
“Honorable benefactor, brave hero, we monks do not possess worldly items; where would we get any gold, silver, or jewels from? I beseech you to spare us, and the Ancestral Buddha will bless you…”
“Blessing of Ancestral Buddha my ass!”
The masked man rudely interrupted the abbot, his face twisted into a hideous sneer and said, “Don’t think I don’t know that you’ve just conducted a ritual for the wealthy families in the city; you must have received a handsome reward. Hand it all over! If you dare say no, I’ll kill you without a second thought!”
“Kill without a second thought!”
The band of thieves roared in unison, their voices startling the birds in the forest into flapping their wings and soaring away. The abbot’s legs trembled uncontrollably, while Jiang Liu’er was already sitting on the ground, his face filled with despair.
“So, saying ‘no’ gets us killed without a second thought—what about saying two or three ‘nos’?”
A mocking laugh suddenly echoed, and in the next moment, Sun Wukong and Yuan Hong emerged from the woods, walking nonchalantly to Jiang Liu’er’s side. Sun Wukong pulled Jiang Liu’er up from the ground, smiled softly, and comforted him, “Don’t be afraid, with old Sun here, you are bound to be safe today!”
Sun Wukong, now a Half-Step Saint who had almost reached the Attainment of Saint by uniting with the Three Corpses, exuded a stable and profound aura. Just one look at him inspired goodwill in others. Although he had not altered his appearance, his features in this life were not much different from those of the Human Race. Truly deserving the name Beautiful Monkey King, Jiang Liu’er thought Sun Wukong’s excess hair made him look a bit odd, but it never occurred to him that he belonged to the Demon Clan.
As for Yuan Hong, he was still following his habitual disguise, having transformed into a human form long ago, with no sign of his Through-Arm Ape Monkey spiritual body.
“Who are you two?”
Seeing the composed expressions of Sun Wukong and Yuan Hong, the masked bandit and his robbers felt an inexplicable sense of unease. Clenching his teeth, the bandit pointed his steel blade at Sun Wukong and bellowed a challenge.
“Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong!”
Sun Wukong grinned and openly declared his name.
“Great Sage Equalling Heaven? That sounds familiar…”
The masked bandit’s brow furrowed; he seemed to have heard the name before but couldn’t quite remember. One of the bandits beside him turned pale and quickly whispered something in his ear. Suddenly, the bandit’s eyes bulged with terror as he looked at Sun Wukong, his right hand holding the steel blade trembling.
“You, you say you are the Great Sage Equalling Heaven?”
“Genuine as can be! What, you don’t believe it? Then let Old Sun give you a reason to believe!”
With a single step, Sun Wukong slightly released a trace of his imposing aura, and immediately a group of bandits felt an overwhelming force bearing down on them, causing their limbs to weaken, unable to stand, each and every one of them fell prostrate to the ground.
“Great Saint, spare our lives! Great Saint, please spare us! We will never dare to do it again!”
The influence of Flower-Fruit Mountain had by now extended to the Great Tang of the Eastern Land. Although not as deeply rooted with numerous followers like the Taoist and Buddhist sects, it had slowly carved out its own place. That’s why these bandits had heard of the fame of Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven.
Compared to the rarely seen miracles of the Immortals, Gods, and Buddhas of the Taoist and Buddhist sects, the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult had often roamed the Mortal World, performing miracles in recent years. The man with the covered face recalled the name of Sun Wukong, who would dare to act presumptuously now?
Even if Sun Wukong were just an impostor, the mere momentum emanating from his body was not something they, a bunch of mountain bandits, could handle. If they didn’t quickly confess their crimes and beg for mercy, their little lives would surely be at risk!
“What a bunch of pathetic losers!”
Sun Wukong initially planned to stretch his muscles a bit, make an example of one as a warning to the others, but these bandits were so cowardly that the mere mention of his name caused them to collapse in fear, immediately dampening his spirits.
“Get lost, and never let Old Sun find out you’ve been robbing and harming lives on the road again, or you won’t get off so lightly!”
Sun Wukong waved his hand dismissively, and the bandits, as if they’d received a royal pardon, kowtowed several times before scrambling away towards the distance, quickly disappearing from view.
“Amitabha, thank you both for lending a hand to save us! It must’ve been the Ancestral Buddha who heard our sincere prayers and sent you to help us, how wonderful, how wonderful!”
The Abbot gave Sun Wukong and Yuan Hong a Buddhist salute with a beaming smile on his face. Escaping death was something nothing could be more joyous than, but seeing the body of the young monk, his eyes couldn’t help but flash with a tinge of sorrow.
Sun Wukong curled his lip, “Old Sun is not sent by any Ancestral Buddha! Old monk, you’re thinking too much! Your Ancestral Buddha just sits in the Thunder Sound Hall, where would he care about your life and death?”
“This is the Sect Hierarch of the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong. He has nothing to do with the Buddhist sect. Old Abbot, if you’re going to thank someone, you should at least ask clearly first, and not start and end with the Ancestral Buddha’s blessings!”
Yuan Hong too glared at the Abbot with some displeasure. The old monk was seriously spouting nonsense with a straight face. With which eyes did he see the two of them as some damn messengers sent by the Ancestral Buddha?
“The Great Sage Equalling Heaven, the Sect Hierarch of the Demon Cult?”
The Abbot was slightly startled. Of course, he had heard of the Sect Hierarch of the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong. However, that was just propaganda from the members of the Demon Cult. The Buddhist Sect hadn’t openly opposed Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult and wouldn’t share such disgraceful matters with the monks and followers of the ordinary Mortal World.
What the Abbot didn’t expect was for the leader of a cult to appear before him and even save him and Jiang Liu’er’s lives. This was almost like the Ancestral Buddha or a Bodhisattva manifesting!
The Abbot was about to salute Sun Wukong once more but was stopped by Sun Wukong raising his hand, “Enough, no need for so many courtesies. Let’s head back to the Golden Mountain Temple first!”
With a wave of his hand, a Xiàngyún cloud lifted the Abbot and Jiang Liu’er from the ground, instantly disappearing into the clouds. Before they could even express their amazement, the cloud had descended to the ground, right in front of Golden Mountain Temple, as if the swift sensation they had just experienced was nothing but a dream.
“We’ve arrived at the Golden Mountain Temple!”
