Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 496 petty
After Jiang Xinyu hung up the phone, she returned to the back to rest; there’s still half an hour before it’s time.
Kong Demin is really bold. It’s not that Qian Jun has too much power, but the people dining today are significant figures in the county. This hurts many. Truly, those who act recklessly will face the consequences.
Even if the Revolutionary Committee has significant power now, these people are not ordinary. Informing them of such arrogance in today’s setting, they’re bound not to let it slide merely for self-preservation.
As for Wei Kaiyun, he didn’t go directly home but wandered around outside; not noticing anything unusual, only then did he return home.
Lying on the bed, Wei thought that Qian Jun must be furious now. He needs to find a way to pass the data to him, but doing so would expose his connections here, which isn’t good.
Ultimately, he deemed it safest to hand it over to Tao Juncheng.
Wang Dajiang led his men back to the Revolutionary Committee and headed straight into Kong Demin’s office.
"Director Kong, we’re back."
"Oh? How was it?"
"Nothing happened, nor were any city leaders present."
"Oh."
"Director Kong, won’t this stir up trouble?"
"How could it?"
"That Qian Jun looked really upset."
"Haha, if he has the skills, let him use them."
"Director Kong, he wouldn’t have been the factory director for so long if no one backed him, especially at the textile factory."
"Hmph, even if there is backing, so what? We didn’t take any extreme actions."
Wang Dajiang chuckled coldly to himself, thinking Kong Demin was too swollen with pride. He could only watch and wait for his downfall.
After Wang Dajiang left, Kong Demin picked up the phone.
However, he didn’t manage to escape a scolding, "You’re useless, can’t get anything done right! It’s your job to supervise, but you’ve startled the snake; now how can you catch anyone?"
Kong Demin was berated so much that he couldn’t lift his head, his expression particularly gloomy. Currently, he was powerless, hence very sensitive to being termed as ’useless.’
Though dissatisfied, he could only listen, inwardly seething and wishing retribution for the person above him, thinking they shouldn’t get too comfortable and would be jolted into reality soon.
After hanging up the phone, Kong Demin was in a foul mood, which is when Sun Hongxia entered.
She was frightened by the expression on his face.
"Get out," he softly uttered a single word, causing Sun Hongxia to hastily turn and leave without daring to say anything.
Kong suddenly stood up, then squatted, retrieving a few sheets of paper — evidence against the city’s Revolutionary Committee member.
He folded them, placed them in an envelope, sealed it, and tucked it into his pocket, heading straight to Qian Jun’s home.
Without knocking, he slipped the envelope through the door upon noticing no sound inside. Only then did he leave relievedly on his bicycle.
Enraged, Qian Jun left home, initially intending to head to the textile factory, but halfway there, he calmed down and returned; such matters couldn’t be rushed and hence required opportunity.
He knocked on the door. Hearing the knocking, Gao Ruyun inside was startled, "Who is it?"
"It’s me, open the door."
"You scared me." Gao muttered as she approached.
Noticing the envelope on the ground, she bent down to pick it up and opened the door.
"I found this at the door just now."
Qian Jun pushed his bicycle inside and took the envelope.
"It’s alright; you should rest for a while. There’re two more tables tonight."
Gao nodded, "Aren’t you going to rest?"
"I’ll head over soon," Qian said while taking the envelope into the west room.
Sitting on the bed, he opened the letter. After reading it, he furrowed his brow.
Though the city’s Revolutionary Committee was aligned with his faction, such arrogance was indigestible.
Considering, he decided that if Tao Juncheng came today, he’d hand over his opinion; if not, he’d burn it.
Feeling much better, he then had the mood to enter the room where his newlywed wife lay on her side, her curves evident.
Qian Jun didn’t deny himself, directly joining her on the bed.
Once settled, it was nearly three o’clock.
"Are there people coming for dinner tonight, Qian Jun?"
"Yes, but not many."
"I’m a bit scared."
"Nothing to fear, what’s there to be afraid of?" Truly, you don’t handle situations well.
At four-thirty in the afternoon, the chefs arrived.
By five-thirty, Wei Kaiyun arrived, yet no others had come. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Qian Jun invited him inside, and they talked extensively, yet he didn’t show him the data obtained this afternoon, realizing they weren’t allies anymore.
"Director Wei, Shanghai is a two-month trip. What are the arrangements from above?"
"I’m not sure; whatever needs doing will be done. Knowing too much isn’t good; it’s probably for learning."
"Related to technology?"
"Uncertain, but it probably isn’t entirely about that. It’s not much advanced compared to here."
"Maybe Yao Shimin should be sent. Vice Factory Director Jiang doesn’t understand technology."
"You guys decide, but I think more people should understand technology. You should learn too to avoid deception in case Yao has issues."
Qian Jun nodded in agreement.
Gao Ruyun entered, serving tea to both.
"Director Wei, haven’t you considered getting married?"
Wei Kaiyun simply smiled in silence.
Qian Jun continued, "I used to find it bothersome, and still do, but the positives outweigh the negatives."
After speaking a few more words, noting Wei’s silence, Qian Jun dropped the topic.
"Why didn’t Shen Xueqi come this afternoon?"
"He’s visiting tonight."
"I saw him in the city; he said he’d come this afternoon."
"Perhaps work-related matters? Who knows. Better if he comes to mingle; if not, we’ll invite him for a meal in the city later."
More people arrived one after another, unfamiliar to Wei Kaiyun, with Qian Jun helping with introductions, resulting in a feeling of swiftly cementing friendships among them.
At six-thirty, Jiang Xinyu and Yao Shimin arrived.
Jiang approached Qian Jun, "I called Secretary Cao."
"I see. By the way, was everything alright at the factory today?"
"Yes, all normal. Rest easy; when you return, I’ll probably head to Shanghai, right?"
"Jiang Xinyu, I’ve just asked Director Wei. He suggests technical training."
"Then let Yao Shimin go; I’m clueless about technology."
Qian Jun felt slightly comfortable, "Still, you should go. I think their technology isn’t much beyond ours.
However, you must learn diligently, as Director Wei rightly stated, we should grasp technology, even superficially, to avoid deception later."
"I’m totally clueless about machines, going really wastes this opportunity."
"Just head over as the Management Bureau wants."
