Chapter 19 - 19 Big Sister

"Aunt Tang, Tang Yue said her younger uncle Tang Mingli has something for her to do, so she won't be coming back. She also asked me to bring this back for her." Zou Xia handed over the comic book and the empty vegetable jar, laughing she added, "Oh right, Tang Yue also said that you can let me help bring her living expenses for this week."

"Okay, please wait for me when you go back to school the day after tomorrow." Zhang Hualian gratefully said, warmly inviting Zou Xia whether she would like to come in for a cup of tea.

Zou Xia smiled and declined.

Zhang Hualian felt puzzled in her heart; Xiao Yue and her younger uncle Tang Mingli aren't that familiar with each other, are they?

Could something have happened?

Zhang Hualian felt uneasy and somewhat worried. Her own daughter had just started at a new school, and she wanted to ask if she was getting accustomed to school life, but it had already been two weeks without her coming back.

"Mom, has sister come back yet?" Tang Jun came out of the house for the third time and seeing the things in Zhang Hualian's hands, he couldn't help but be fond of them, especially when he saw the comic book, he excitedly said, "Sister really understands me."

Tang Jun excitedly looked outside, but he did not see Tang Yue's figure.

"Your sister hasn't come back; she said her younger uncle had something for her, but I don't know what it could be." Zhang Hualian always felt uneasy, and when Tang Zhengde came back that night, she made a special point to talk to him about it.

Tang Zhengde reassured her, "Although Mingli is not that old, he has been working in the town for years and he's not the type to mess around. He must have something important to discuss with Xiao Yue."

"Besides, do you still doubt Mingli's character?" Tang Zhengde, smiling, was very trusting of his younger brother's reputation.

"I trust him." Zhang Hualian, reassured by his words, also felt more at ease.

Tang Mingli had given them much help; it must be something important, just like Tang Zhengde said.

At this moment.

In the Provincial City, it was the first time for both Tang Yue and Tang Mingli, and Tang Yue quietly reminded him to keep the money safe.

Tang Mingli smiled mysteriously and said, "Xiao Yue, just be at ease, it will be absolutely secure."

It was later that Tang Yue found out where Tang Mingli was hiding his money, and she felt a bit disdainful – that was money she didn't have the nerve to touch...

For dinner, Tang Mingli also didn't shortchange Tang Yue; he ordered two dishes, one meat and one vegetable, at a fast food restaurant, but the prices were very affordable.

Both Tang Yue and her uncle Tang Mingli ended up stuffing their bellies full, not leaving even the last drop of soup from their plates.

After eating and drinking their fill, they found a spot to rest at the bus station.

Tang Mingli, true to his past experience working around the town, had brought a cloth bag that Tang Yue didn't know about. It wasn't until later that she realized he had brought a thin cloth with him, something like a sheet.

Yet, on this early autumn night, just lightly covering themselves with it was much more comfortable than one would expect, and it didn't feel cold at all.

Tang Yue leaned in the corner, while Tang Mingli sat on the outside, covering them with the thin sheet. He also deliberately kept a little distance between them; although the two were uncle and niece, they were not closely related.

That night, Tang Yue slept in a daze, but remained vigilant, feeling Tang Mingli occasionally covering her with the sheet, yet never coming too close, intentionally staying on her outer side. That feeling gave her a lot of comfort.

Slept until dawn.

Tang Mingli had already found out that the wholesale market was not far from the station. As the sky just started to brighten, he bought a few buns and while giving them to Tang Yue, he said, "Xiao Yue, eat quickly. Once we've got our goods, we'll head back to the county town, and we might not have time to eat."

"Okay." Tang Yue washed her face with cold water before eating the buns. She was not familiar with the Provincial City, so she followed Tang Mingli. But upon entering the wholesale market, the advantage of Tang Yue, with her hindsight from the future immediately became apparent.

"Xiao Yue, this dress is so pretty."

"I've never seen such a pretty dress back in the county." Tang Mingli was mesmerized, having only seen rather ordinary clothes in Wangjiang County. Compared to what was available here, those were mundane.

"Little uncle." Tang Yue shot Tang Mingli a discreet glance and promptly inquired about the wholesale price, exuding an experienced demeanor.

After understanding the ballpark figures, Tang Yue and Tang Mingli continuously toured the wholesale market.

"Xiao Yue, what are you looking for?"

Tang Mingli was already tempted. A piece of clothing cost only a dollar or two. Even the better ones were just several dollars, but they could be sold for double or even triple the price back home. He felt that dealing in clothes was definitely profitable!

"Little uncle, the clothes we saw just now are not that great. Let's keep looking." Tang Yue intended to take this opportunity to make a big profit and sell out quickly.

She wanted to make sure her little uncle earned money, then proceed with her own grand money-making plans!

Therefore, in selecting clothes, Tang Yue aimed for the best possible quality while also looking for a cheaper price.

"Xiao Yue, these clothes are already very nice." Tang Mingli did not understand why, but he continued to follow Tang Yue around. Whatever stores Tang Yue had asked about, their clothes were all what he considered to be nice, which therefore made him trust Tang Yue's judgment even more.

After another round, Tang Yue spotted a shop and was immediately attracted by the clothes inside. Though by her standards, the clothes weren't exceedingly pretty, they stood out with a clearly more complete range of styles and brighter colors compared to the other button-up shirts around. And the jeans here had more varieties than the previous stores they visited.

Tang Yue took a careful look around the shop. It was quite deep, and had she not insisted on exploring it fully, they would likely have missed this shop.

Upon entering, they could feel that the business was good, even though it was still early morning; many of the shoppers came early to buy wholesale.

Tang Yue picked out a few styles she liked, holding clothes and pants in her hands.

Tang Mingli stood by, watching out for thieves and also captivated by the clothes in Tang Yue's hands. The women's clothing, though uniformly, had styles that were nicer and colors more vibrant than those they had seen before.

Red, yellow, green, and blue—the colors were appealing, especially the flare jeans that Tang Yue was holding. He had occasionally seen a few people wearing them in the county but had never seen them for sale.

When the shop owner was free, Tang Yue passed over the clothes and asked, "Boss, how can I get these clothes?"

"The young lady has good taste, you've chosen the best styles in my shop right away." The woman was quite plump and her smile exuded warmth. The woman continued, "I must say, among the entire wholesale market, my clothes are from Shenzhen, the most fashionable. I guarantee they'll sell well when you take them back."

Tang Yue grinned, showing her neat and white teeth, and said, "Big sis, this is the first time my uncle and I are sourcing from your shop. We'll take these. If they sell as well as you say, we'll come back next time."
