Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me-Chapter 525 - 268: Shi Fengming’s Uproar (Part 2)
"He dares!" Shi Fengming slammed his fist onto the window frame with hate, "He dares! If he lays a finger on Qing’er, I’ll never forgive him in this lifetime — we will be irreconcilable enemies!"
Sang Wan sighed lightly, "Shi Fengju knows your temperament very well, so rest assured, as long as you don’t provoke him, he won’t harm that girl!"
If you are fine, then she will be fine!
Shi Fengming was momentarily dazed before the panic and agitation in his eyes gradually subsided. Remembering Sang Wan’s words, he thought that if his elder brother did not want to earn his hatred, he probably wouldn’t do anything to harm Qing’er. All he could do now was to plan slowly, he needed to find a way to leave this place first!
Thinking of Shi Fengju’s temperament, Shi Fengming finally calmed down a bit more. Clashing head-on with him would gain him nothing, it was better to first soothe him, wait for him to let down his guard then look for a chance to escape. As long as he could leave this place, he could take Qing’er away to freedom! His brother couldn’t do anything to him then!
Shi Mansion was, for the time being, a place he could not return to.
Seeing him lost in thought, shifting from happiness to sorrow to melancholy, Sang Wan didn’t care what he was planning as long as he calmed down and stopped causing trouble.
"The food must have gotten cold by now, I’ll ask the kitchen to prepare a bowl of noodles for you! Have something to eat first," Sang Wan said softly.
"Thank you, sister-in-law," Shi Fengming did not refuse this time, after all the commotion, he was already hungry. The anger and frustration from earlier made him unaware, but now, he was famished.
"But I don’t want noodles, I want some shrimp dumplings. Could you trouble sister-in-law to send someone to buy them for me?" Shi Fengming said.
Though Sang Wan found his sudden change of mood amusing, she was glad that he was willing to eat and thus nodded with a smile, "Okay, wait here, I’ll send someone to buy them!" With that, she turned and left.
Once the shrimp dumplings were bought, the housekeeper opened the door to deliver them, and then a rough-mannered maid came in to clean up the floor and take out the food box brought in earlier.
Shi Fengming glanced at the entrance, where six Xiaosi stood with their hands down, seemingly casual but each with a watchful eye on him. Outside the room, there were gates to the courtyard, and beyond that, more gated doors, making the possibility of a successful escape very slim. With a thought, he restrained himself.
His sister-in-law was right; if he angered his elder brother again, he’d truly be in a bind!
After finishing a basket of shrimp dumplings and cleaning his mouth with some tea, Shi Fengming turned to the housekeeper and said, "Don’t lock the door. I won’t run, just open the door to let me get some air!"
The housekeeper’s smile was stiff as he replied with an apologetic grin, "I’m sorry, young master, but the young master has specifically instructed otherwise and I dare not disobey! Please don’t make things difficult for an old servant. How about this, when the young master returns, I’ll seek his instructions?"
Shi Fengming instantly became annoyed and hit the table with a forceful voice, "How is it that you dare not disregard the young master’s words, but you dare to ignore mine?"
"I dare not! Please don’t make it hard for an old servant," the housekeeper replied, bowing, with an extremely low attitude but without any sign of yielding.
Shi Fengming deflated and waved his hand in irritation, shouting, "Get out! All of you, get out!"
The housekeeper, as if receiving a pardon, hurriedly agreed, fearful that Shi Fengming might change his mind and hurriedly retreated. Without hesitation, two Xiaosi stepped forward, closed the doors, and locked them.
Inside, Shi Fengming watched with wide eyes, filled with rage that welled up in bursts of tightness in his chest. His elder brother was really going too far!
Shi Fengju was also concerned about the situation at the manor and returned in the evening. Without even having time to change his clothes, he first stopped by Shi Fengming’s door to secretly peek through the window, seeing him lounging on the couch with legs crossed, seemingly at ease. With that, Shi Fengju’s mind was put at ease, and the suffocation in his heart somewhat dissipated. He thought to himself: Dammit, see if I can’t handle you!
After going to his room to change clothes, wash his face, and clean his hands, he casually asked Sang Wan if Shi Fengming had been behaving in the afternoon.
Shi Fengming’s ruckus at noon couldn’t be hidden, so Sang Wan slowly told Shi Fengju about it.
As she expected, Shi Fengju’s face darkened before she could finish speaking, angrily saying, "This is outrageous! He’s gotten too bold! To dare to pull off a wrist-slitting suicide act, does he think he’s still a three-year-old child?"
Shi Fengju’s ire, which had just subsided, flared up once again, and he abruptly stood up, ready to settle the score with Shi Fengming.
To threaten him? Even his mother couldn’t threaten him, was he afraid of these childish tantrums of crying, causing trouble, and threatening suicide? He could catch that vile woman Su Qing’er right now and make her life a living hell!
"Fengju!" Sang Wan quickly grabbed him, saying with a mix of laughter and scolding, "Listen to me! I’ve already calmed him down; it’s all fine now!"
Calmed him down? Shi Fengju raised an eyebrow, looking at Sang Wan.
That boy was famously stubborn, how could she have calmed him down so easily?
Sang Wan then repeated exactly what she had said, smiling, "I had no other choice at the time, so I said that. I didn’t say anything wrong, did I? You can’t blame me if it was wrong!"
Shi Fengju’s heart softened, and he turned to embrace her, smiling, "It’s Miss Wan who understands me best, you didn’t say anything wrong! If he really tries to provoke me, I will make sure Su Qing’er suffers a fate worse than death!"
Sang Wan sighed quietly, leaning into his embrace, "Whatever the case, he’s your brother and you will have to see him eventually. Please make sure to handle things carefully. Don’t end up being loathed by others!"
Shi Fengju felt warmth in his heart upon hearing this; he knew she sincerely had his best interest in mind. He gently kissed her forehead and said with assurance, "Don’t worry!"
Just as the two had finished their dinner, the housekeeper came to see them, smilingly reporting that the second young master was insisting on seeing the young master.
Sang Wan thought that Shi Fengju would get up to go, but as she raised her eyes to speak, she saw Shi Fengju’s face darken slightly, as he said indifferently, "Tell him I’m too busy to deal with him right now. We’ll talk in a few days! If he sends you to convey another message, you don’t have to pay attention to him!"
