Rebirth: Building the Strongest Party with my Overpowered Harem.-Chapter 8: Necromancy
Chapter 8: Necromancy
Adonis stood in front of me, dead goblins at his feet; they were ten in total.
Their bodies were still intact since all Filo did was break a few of their bones and crush their flesh. Well, not that Adonis felt it mattered.
Stretching his hand forward, he uttered to the system...
"Show me what needs to be done."
Then, the system replied,
[Using the key word "Extract" would allow you to acquire their souls, while using the key word "Awaken" would allow you to tame and summon their souls—your soldiers.]
Adonis smiled, "Very well."
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
Filo stood at the side, patiently waiting to see what Adonis wanted to do.
"Now... Extract." He said out loud, watching as the dead bodies began to glow a bit.
Adding to that, Adonis could also feel a great deal of mana leave his body.
"That's quite a lot."
[You have gained 10 souls under your possession.]
Just as the system said, Adonis had gained ten of the goblins' souls.
And it wasn't just that; he noticed he gained their experiences, their thought patterns, their language, and almost everything linked to the goblins.
"I should hurry this up. I can feel my mana running out the longer I keep this on. If I summon them, that should mean I need enough mana to complete that too. Can I do it?
Regardless of the system, I don't think I have grown much in terms of mana. Well, it's worth the try."
Adonis closed his eyes.
"Awaken."
His words were chilling.
A huge dark mist rushed out from below his feet, like a plague spreading and eating at the ground.
It was mana, pure mana.
Filo, who was a bit far away, couldn't help but enter a state of shock from witnessing the power Adonis was releasing from his body.
From within the growing dark mist stood ten goblins in its wake.
They all stood in front of Adonis, their skin dark and their eyes carrying the entirety of the dark mana Adonis possessed.
Yes, this was the summoning of the dead.
Adonis slowly lowered his arm, his breath growing labored as he could feel he was down to his last mana pool.
[Notice, you have gained ten soldiers to your ranks.]
[Dark Goblins.]
[You can now access mana from them as they can infinitely draw mana from the world around them.]
"Oh?" Adonis smiled a bit, "That would be a neat trick. See, now I've got to try it."
Even before he needed to do anything, Adonis could already feel all his mana getting refilled.
Like it was never gone.
And it was then Adonis noticed something: as his soldiers stood before him, his entire mana seemed to be changing.
His once light orange mana was now taking a darker turn, venturing into the purple aura.
This was the power of the Necromancer.
"A-donis..." Filo suddenly called out, shock still etched on her face.
Adonis turned around to look at her upon hearing his name.
"What's up..." He replied with a smile on his face, "Heheh, amazing, right?"
"Really amazing..." She still could not believe her eyes, "Being able to summon so many undead, without their bodies too, how can that not be amazing? I don't think even an S-rank Necromancer could pull that off."
"Then I guess I should feel honored."
He turned his attention back to his warriors.
"Keeping them like this doesn't seem to be draining my mana. Does that mean I can keep them out as long as I want? That would be a huge advantage for me."
With his hands on his jaw, he suddenly spoke out, "Filo, kill one of the goblins for me."
"Eh?" Filo was confused.
"Just stab it in the chest or something, it should be alright."
Filo sighed, "Okay then."
She began to close the distance between herself and the goblin, and then—
Bash!
She slapped her hand on its face, completely squashing the goblin's head.
But instead of blood and brains spewing out, it dispersed into dark mist.
"Come out," Adonis ordered.
This revived the dead goblin once more.
The moment the goblin appeared, Adonis felt mana rush out of his body instantly, but it was immediately refilled.
"So it would seem the only part of the ritual that takes mana from me is summoning them. How long they can stay in the physical realm doesn't matter."
Adonis sighed; for the most part, he had figured out what he needed to know about his necromancy.
Snapping his fingers, the goblins all disappeared back into his shadows, leaving no trace of their existence.
"Now then..."
He looked at Filo, "We should head to the guild and get our payment and take the next quest," he spoke.
To Filo, she had just witnessed a healer class use necromancy; it was quite a lot to take in.
Then again... Adonis was no longer the man he was.
With a single shake of her head, she moved closer, "How are we supposed to carry all these bodies to the guild?"
"Huh? What do you mean? Of course we'll carry them. It's no big deal," Adonis replied, "Come on, don't be lazy."
...
Later that day, Adonis and Filo made their way back to the guild.
Everyone watched as Filo carried all ten of the dead goblins on her shoulder and placed them on the counter.
"I would like to sell this," she said.
Depending on the rank of the monster, their pay could be huge or small.
From what people knew, the guild uses the monsters' cores to make artifacts for adventurers, hence why selling monster parts was also a type of business.
That was the only reason Adonis had to sell the goblins.
Still, there was one thing he knew he would face if he returned to the guild.
And that was facing his guild advisor, whom he had been actively trying to avoid.
While Filo was busy selling the goblins to the guild, Adonis found himself in the small office owned by his guild advisor, Stella Greens.
