Rebirth: After Becoming the Villainess-Chapter 327: This Is All Because of Song Lianhe
The moment Master Chen spoke, the crowd erupted in agreement.
"That’s right! Search her!"
"You have to strip her naked to search her! Make sure she isn’t hiding anything illicit!"
As if unable to bear the foul atmosphere, Song Xilan rose with a look of disgust and weakness. "Help me back to the carriage," she said softly.
Her attendant matron obliged, helping her back into the carriage.
With Master Chen in the lead, the bolder men immediately began to close in. Their eyes held a lecherous glint, and with unspoken accord, they trapped Song Lianhe in the middle, surrounding her so tightly there was no escape.
Master Chen sneered. "Kong Qing, step back. Don’t sully your eyes!"
Kong Qing gave a slight smile. "Then I’ll leave it to you, Master Chen, and the rest of you."
Song Lianhe gritted her teeth, her gaze shifting from humiliation to anger, and finally, to ice.
"Have you really thought this through?"
Master Chen scoffed. "You’re just a humble Medical Woman. So what if you saved the Princess Consort? Now you’re in league with bandits, and you still dare to throw your weight around?"
Master Chen’s hand was crippled, and it was uncertain if he’d ever be able to drive a carriage again. He naturally hated her to the bone.
He fully intended to ruin her reputation in public. He reached out, grabbing for the undergarment visible through the tear on her back—
’How important was a woman’s reputation?’
’Once her reputation was ruined, her only way out... would be to marry him!’
’Even if the Prince found out, there’d be nothing he could do. He might even reward me with this woman!’
A thrill shot through Master Chen. Song Lianhe was gorgeous. He and the other men had discussed it in private, saying she was even more beautiful than the Princess Consort. It would be no exaggeration to say she was like the Nine Heavens Profound Lady herself, descended to the mortal realm.
’Plus, she knew medicine, so earning money to support a family in the future would be no problem! His injured arm wouldn’t matter. He could just lie at home and rake in the Silver!’
The more he thought about it, the more excited he became. His eyes grew bloodshot, and his hand was just about to touch her fair, jade-like skin...
Suddenly, he let out a bloodcurdling scream. "AHHH—"
The crowd jumped in shock. Looking at Master Chen, they saw him cradling his hand, his whole body trembling in pain. The tendons in his wrist had been cleanly severed!
Under the crowd’s shocked and fearful gazes, Song Lianhe stood. In her hand, she held a Willow Leaf Dart. With a single motion, she tore off the lower half of her pleated skirt. She methodically draped the fabric over her torso and tied it deftly at her waist with one hand.
She slowly turned to face them.
Master Chen cradled his still-bleeding wrist and cursed through the pain, "Ah! You venomous woman!"
Song Lianhe scanned the crowd, the dart in her hand still dripping blood.
"Just now, I merely severed the tendons in your wrist. If you don’t want to live, I will accommodate you." After a pause, she added, "And the rest of you can join him on his journey."
The crowd retreated. This woman was a healer; her strike was steady, precise, and ruthless. A single look at Master Chen’s wound was proof—the cut was deep, yet it bled very little. Who would dare fall into her hands?
Kong Qing, after her initial shock, quickly composed herself. "There are so many of us! Are we really going to be scared of her? The Prince will be back soon, and he certainly won’t spare her! Whoever takes her down now might even get a reward of Silver!"
The men heard this and figured she had a point.
’Her disappearance just now was suspicious enough. Maybe she was in league with those bandits all along!’
’If she wasn’t guilty, why would she have needed to injure Master Chen?’
’Just as Kong Qing said, if they could capture her now, they’d be sure to get in the Prince’s good graces. They might even get a better post and no longer have to drive carriages. Even if they only got the reward Silver, it was a profitable venture!’
And so, everyone stared at Song Lianhe, once again growing restless.
Their intentions were written all over their faces. Song Lianhe simply gave a humorless snort and shook her head.
’So unbelievably foolish.’
’The reasoning was simple. If she wanted to kill Zhou Junlin and Song Xilan, a single dose of poison would have sufficed.’
’Why bother with an ambush on the road?’
’This was such an obvious frame-up, just an excuse to get rid of her.’
She lifted her gaze to Song Xilan’s carriage.
’Song Xilan, is this the extent of your abilities?’
An excruciating pain bored into Master Chen’s wrist, a testament to how viciously she had struck.
"You venomous woman! I’ll kill you!"
He charged toward Song Lianhe—
Song Lianhe stood her ground, tightening her grip on the Willow Leaf Dart.
It was as if it could grant her endless courage.
At the same time, the men around her all swarmed forward at once.
"Grab her!"
"Don’t let her get away!"
"Let’s strip her naked in a minute! We’ll see how she runs then!"
Song Lianhe gritted her teeth. At this moment, in her eyes, they were all just living specimens with their vital and fatal points clearly marked...
She had said it before: never make an enemy of a physician.
But just as the men closed in, a shriek echoed from the sky—
"SKREEE!"
Following the cry, a gray gyrfalcon appeared, wings spread wide, before immediately diving—
"Ah! A hawk! It’s a hawk!"
"Run!"
None of them had ever seen such a large bird of prey, especially not one charging straight into a crowd of people!
They scattered in an instant.
Kong Qing was terrified as well. In her attempt to flee, she was knocked over, falling flat on her rear. To make matters worse, someone trampled her hand.
"AH!"
Only Song Lianhe remained standing firmly in place. She tilted her head back to look at the gray gyrfalcon, her lower lip trembling as if she were about to cry.
’Chun Hua...’
’Chun Hua was so magnificent!’
It dove at incredible speed, gliding just as it neared the ground before banking back into the air. Then it shot straight into the crowd, sending men and horses into a frenzy.
The horses, in particular, were spooked, neighing and bolting in all directions.
"Ah! The Princess Consort! The Princess Consort is still in the carriage!"
Now everyone was in a panic, scrambling to give chase.
If anything happened to the Princess Consort, every last one of them would lose their heads!
Kong Qing tried to scramble up and give chase, but a sudden gust of wind kicked up before her as the gray gyrfalcon landed right in her path.
Kong Qing’s eyes widened in terror. Her mouth fell open, but she was too frightened to scream as she scrambled backward.
The gyrfalcon’s eyes were exceptionally sharp. It stared her down, walking toward her step by step.
"Ah... No! Don’t..."
The gyrfalcon suddenly launched into the air again, flapping its wings and pecking viciously at her head!
"AHHH!!"
Terrified, Kong Qing scrambled to her feet and fled, periodically swatting at the bird.
"No! Get away! Get away!"
No one knew how she had managed to offend the raptor, but it pursued her relentlessly, batting her with its wings and clawing at her.
Only when the gyrfalcon’s sharp talons had torn Kong Qing’s clothes to tatters did it finally release her. With a look of haughty disdain, it flapped its wings and flew away.
Song Lianhe had watched the entire spectacle.
She knew Chun Hua had come to drive away those who were bullying her.
The feeling that someone still cared for her finally eased much of her earlier anger and despair.
「In the distance, the carriage bolted wildly.」
"AHHH— Help! Help me!"
Song Xilan was in a panic. The carriage body swayed violently, threatening to fling her out at any moment.
"Prince... Prince, hurry and save me!"
Tears streamed down her beautiful face. ’I just managed to snatch back the female lead’s storyline,’ she thought. ’I can’t die a pointless death now!’
’Why were the heavens so unfair to her?’
’And was all of this, once again, because of Song Lianhe?!’
Just as she fell into despair, someone suddenly landed on the roof of the carriage. The figure then leaped onto the front board and violently pulled back on the reins—
The carriage stopped.
The carriage curtain was then thrown open—
