Rebirth: After Becoming the Villainess-Chapter 103: Worthy of the Name Heavenly Kill Slash, Vicious Enough
Zhou Cangyan raised a hand to lightly massage his brow. When he lifted his gaze again, his eyes were dark and grim, fixed on Song Xingfeng with a look that felt like being ensnared by a venomous snake. And yet, the corners of his mouth curved upward wantonly, tracing the arc of a perfect smile.
Song Xingfeng’s attitude made Song Lianhe so furious she felt like she would explode. Her good mood for the evening was completely ruined.
’Seriously, what’s his deal?’
Standing at the bottom of the manor’s steps, she suddenly let out a cold laugh. "Father, you seem to have made a mistake." She reached out and gently looped her arm through the young man’s beside her, ignoring his slight stiffness. Head held high, she looked directly at Song Xingfeng and stated with composure, "I just came back to let you know that I won’t be returning to the manor tonight."
Zhou Cangyan raised an eyebrow, his delicate eyes seeming to be veiled by a thin, pale mist. He slowly lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "Do you know what you’re saying?"
"Shh!"
’Losing the battle is one thing, but I won’t lose my nerve,’ Song Lianhe thought. ’There was no way she’d let the Songs have the satisfaction of watching her crumble!’
Zhou Cangyan’s eyebrow arched even higher, as if to ask, ’Did you just shush me?!’
Song Lianhe tightened her grip on his arm and, with her head held high, announced, "As you can see, I am going to... spend... the... night... out!"
’As for her reputation, she couldn’t care less!’
’It would be better to be free of it, to no longer be shackled by it. The first step to living for myself is to stop caring what other people think!’
Mrs. Liu hadn’t expected Song Lianhe to utter such outrageous words, either, and she was deeply shocked.
"You... you, you..."
Song Xingfeng was dumbfounded, so furious he was speechless.
His younger daughter had been rebellious before, but she had always placed great importance on her reputation, terrified of earning Zhou Junlin’s scorn.
Who would have thought that one day she would utter such scandalous and immoral words in public!!
"Fine! Just fine! We’ll see if I don’t beat you to death, you shameless creature!"
He strode forward and raised his hand high—
Frightened, Song Lianhe spun around and ducked into Zhou Cangyan’s embrace.
Zhou Cangyan’s eyes narrowed. He wrapped a protective arm around the woman in his embrace while his other hand shot out and seized General Song’s wrist. "Quite an imposing display, General Song," he sneered.
Song Lianhe glanced back to see General Song’s face flushed red, his jaw clenched tight. The hand caught in Zhou Cangyan’s grip was already turning a deep, swollen purple from the lack of circulation.
Zhou Cangyan, in contrast, looked completely at ease, as if he wasn’t exerting himself in the slightest.
Song Lianhe knew how terrifying his Combat Power was. Don’t be fooled by the fact that both men had been to war; General Song had mostly commanded from the rear. Zhou Cangyan was different. He had carved out his honor and status with his own blood and steel. A man like that didn’t need any Supreme Martial Arts; the sheer Evil Qi he exuded was intimidating enough.
"Master!"
Mrs. Liu rushed forward with a group of servants. "Prince Qing, I beg you, let go!"
She turned to glare at the guards and young servants behind her. "What are you all standing around for? Hurry and save your master!"
Not daring to disobey, the group advanced with trepidation. Zhou Cangyan’s expression darkened. "Get lost."
Instantly, they all scrambled back, cowering with their heads tucked in like frightened quails.
"You useless trash!"
Cold sweat streamed down General Song’s cheeks, and his clenched jaw trembled. Yet he stubbornly refused to make a sound, resolved not to cry out even if his hand was crippled!
Just then, Song Xilan came running out from inside. With a THUD, she fell to her knees before Zhou Cangyan. "Prince Qing! My father has greatly offended you, I beg Your Highness to show mercy! Furthermore, even if my father is at fault, any judgment should come from the Holy Emperor. My father is a minister of Da Cheng, and more importantly, a minister to the Holy Emperor himself!"
Song Lianhe eyed the kneeling figure, a grudging admiration growing within her. ’She really has some nerve!’
’Then again, she only dared to be so impassioned because she didn’t truly understand Zhou Cangyan. She didn’t know the dark side of the villain.’
Zhou Cangyan’s eyebrow lifted as he slowly shifted his gaze...
Suddenly, someone gripped his hand tightly.
He stilled, lowering his gaze.
He looked at the hand that had stealthily taken his own—it was delicate, fair, and so very small.
Song Lianhe turned to face him, her body perfectly blocking his view of Song Xilan behind her. She looked at him with utmost seriousness. "Prince, just let it go."
His crystalline eyes shifted. "You’re asking me to stop?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Yes."
The man said slowly, "But he was disrespectful to me."
"...Then let me, his daughter, apologize on his behalf."
Looking genuinely distressed, Song Lianhe bent her knees, about to kneel before him.
Suddenly, a hand caught her by the elbow, holding her up.
She paused, looking up at him.
With his gaze lowered, Zhou Cangyan released General Song’s hand.
"HSSS—"
General Song stumbled back several steps, his body staggering. As cold sweat dripped from his brow, he cradled his wrist, feeling as though the bones had been on the verge of being crushed.
His bloodshot eyes stared at Zhou Cangyan. ’Heh, truly worthy of the name "Heavenly Kill Slash,"’ he thought bitterly. ’Vicious and ruthless to the core!’
