Chapter 427: Scheme 6: Pals

"That’s dangerous, Sir."

"Don’t worry, they’re already slowing down. They’ll be able to stop in time."

"You can’t be sure of that."

Boooooooon!!

While Deli looked to the yacht not too far from us, the horn of our own yacht blaring, she contemplated what I had just told her to do.

"It’s just too dangerous."

I hoped the woman would simply do as I said, trusting that I knew what I was talking about, but that was far too hopeful of me. The captain had only just met me, and whatever rules they drilled into her in sailor school stuck. She might be willing to whore herself out, but she was firm on her sailing vows.

"We can’t be sure how much momentum she has. If our estimation is off by even a margin, while she might not sink us, heavy damage would be inflicted on the White Kite."

"I’ll pay for whatever damages," I said, hoping to soothe her worries.

"It’s illegal. I would lose my license and face serious jail time."

Us moving parallel with the Sunrise while blowing our horns had spooked the Sunrise, and she had begun moving away.

"Why don’t we make radio contact and get them to stop."

The blank look I gave the woman informed her how stupid that suggestion was, and it particularly vexed me, since I had already pictured how everything would play out in my head.

"I’ll pay you $20,000."

Deli blinked, taken aback, her head weighing the sum I had just mentioned, and I decided to fry her brain.

"How about $100,000."

Under my watch, the woman’s eyes widened, her breathing turning heavy.

"You’ll pay a hundred grand?" Deli looked to confirm, greed enveloping her whole being.

I chuckled.

"No."

My answer confused the woman, and before she could properly understand what had just happened, I pushed her to the side and occupied her space at the helm of the boat.

"What are you doing?" Deli asked as I immediately pushed forward a lever on the dashboard.

I had never driven a boat, but I had watched the few actions the woman had taken since I came to the control room.

Deli marched forward to pull down the lever, but she froze in her tracks as I slowly turned to her.

The woman trembled, her face turning ashen, her eyes widening, a horror threatening to claim her expression. When I looked away, she dropped to her knees, breathing heavily, trying to convince herself she was still alive.

I wanted to knock the woman out, but I was wary of mishaps that might occur during the course of me controlling the boat, so I heavily tuned the emotional package I had delivered to her head.

"Do I have to do everything myself," I muttered in my head, remembering the line used by most villains in movies.

What Deli had refused to do was exactly what I was currently doing.

I drove the White Kite to pursue the Sunrise, our white vessel going at full speed and quick to catch up with the white-and-black vessel. In my plans with Denise, we had made sure to select a vessel in no way inferior to that of my adversary.

The White Kite caught up to the Sunrise, and then under my watch, overtook her, driving several meters ahead before losing speed and slowly turning and displaying her side to the incoming vessel. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

This simple task was what I had asked Deli to do, a kind of brake check.

Boooooooon!!!

The Sunrise blared her horns as she approached, her captain already putting on the brakes.

"What is going on?" A new presence entered the control room, Carmine’s face full of worry. Then she saw her captain.

I understand that it was just me and the brunette in the control room, but the blonde immediately looking at me accusatorily for Deli’s disheveled figure kind of hurt.

"What did you do to her?" Carmine took a cautious step back, looking at me.

I would have liked to assuage the blonde’s thoughts and placate her feelings, but my mind was busy analyzing the result from my latest scan of the Sunrise.

"She’s fine. Don’t touch anything."

Carmine blinked, and I was already in front of her, walking past her and out of the room, her body shivering with a wave of goosebumps.

She looked at my figure heading out to the open deck and, confused, ran toward Deli, who was still on her knees, her arms wrapped around her form.

"Captain, are you alright?"

I thought it was a shame that my recent actions would block off my chances of smashing Deli’s rear, but my current engagement was way more important.

Standing out on the deck, the sun shining on me, the sounds of birds in the air and light waves reaching me, I stared at the Sunrise.

My reckless action hadn’t given the boat’s captain much time to think about evasion. Not wanting to risk it, he focused on bringing the yacht to a halt, a loud warning blare leaving from his vessel.

I watched as the ship approached, rapidly slowing down with each second, then just when it seemed like contact was inevitable, its bow stopped advancing.

In retrospect, I was honestly being careless. Plenty careless. My entire actions were not exactly necessary, but... ehh, I didn’t care much. For the result I wanted, this was the right route.

You can be assured that just as Nicholas’s mansion was a bedrock for gangsters, so was his yacht.

About six of his men already flooded the deck, their rifles out and pointed my way, their fingers itching on the trigger. I raised my hands with a smile, staring at the armed men.

"I’m not an enemy."

The armed men were not convinced, but then three arrivals on the deck restrained their aggression.

"Nicholas," I loudly called with my arms spread and a cheerful smile,

Stepping on the edge of the boat and jumping onto the Sunrise, I looked like the aged man’s pal as I approached,
