Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 86. Fool Or Savior
86. Fool Or Savior
As they stood there everyone could see the visible signs of two whirlpools of energy. One was a swirling mass of flames swimming in the air and surrounding Eryndor like an impenetrable shield and the other was a ball of electricity that released charges in every direction surrounding Karlok who acted as it’s conduit.
Merylin was in awe at the sight. It was not normal to see visible signs of mana aura manifesting in real life at least not at their level, for this to be possible one had to be at least on the level of a master mage with an arcane core.
The ground beneath them started to tremble as it threatened to give way but stood despite that. Eryndor had only felt the power of his master coursing through his veins once and that was when he had failed of the icy mountain after confronting the mountain wolf king for the first time. Back then his master had saved his life for a moment but now he was welding that power to its fullest extent.
Eryndor noticed that he had dropped his mage’s staff after he had been sent flying by Karlok’s attack now he had to rely on his his sword to deal damage. Though he was brimming with energy he feared that he would be overwhelmed by it if he did not wrap things up in time.
["Kid"]
His master called out to him and he understood immediately he had to attack now and overpower his opponent. Before he could move the huge trolley charged forward, despite it’s huge size it was surprisingly nimble as it swung it’s huge mace like it was a twig. Eryndor was much more faster since he was smaller and was not having a measure of his master’s power flowing through him.
Eryndor jumped back and avoided the attack a second later the mace cut through where he once stood. His eyes widened in shock, in his mind the mace was just a mere millimeter from hitting him but in reality it was seconds away. He reeled himself together and opened his palm sending a huge stream of fire flying from it.
Karlok raised his mace in the air and brought it down on him. Eryndor barely managed to get away in time but to his surprise he still had a few seconds to spare. Karlok was stating to huff in frustration at this repeated strange movements. But none other was as confused as Eryndor himself, he could not explain it but he was seeing flashes of the future before it happened.
"Master, is this you?" He asked as he jumped back a few times to put some distance between the two. He did not want his new ability to confuse him more than it would help him. His master responded in a low tone.
["What you are doing right now is what you can do, I’m only feeding you with enough energy
Remember back when I told you my eye was invaluable? Future sight, an eye that can peer seconds into the future. Use it and beat this enemy"]
Eryndor did not ask any more questions. He could recall the legacy simply saying that the eye could perceive heat, back then he never once thought if it held a deeper meaning but currently he could tell I did. He could see the movements of heat before they happened, this could also be called future sight. Knowing your opponents move before they attacked was a real advantage.
But it posed a question to Eryndor since he had no control over the ability, there was no way for him to know how far he was perceiving leaving him vulnerable to poor battle choices.
Instead of thinking too much on the matter he decided to put all he had into one attack, his power up was almost out and physically he was at his limit, mentally he was drained. He could also feel his mana fully depleted, what kept him fighting was his master’s mana which was now destroying his body from within.
Karlok started to thrash around like a mad beast on rampage as more sparks of elective sizzled off his body and he charged forwards while swinging his mace at Eryndor.
Time to plan a good counter was smashed away as the mace came out of nowhere and struck Eryndor who blocked the full might of it with his blade in a guard stance. He grunted as his knees buckled under him and a millisecond later over a hundred thousand volts of electricity flowed into his body causing him to yell out in pain. A great deal of the attack was absorbed by his master who grunted and screamed curses.
["A mere animation date attack me? Kid take the opening and kill this bastard."]
Eryndor dropped his sword and closed in on the troll as it raised its mace over its head and brought it down on him. Eryndor poured all of his master’s mana into a small red sphere the size of a finger nail and sent it flying to the chest for the troll.
Karlok saw this and laughed madly, the veins around his face on the verge of popping. "What’s that little mite meant to do?"
As the small sphere flew a little distance from Eryndor and was now centimeters from Karlok’s chest it vanished into nothingness drawing more laughs of amusement from him.
But Eryndor was calm and his eyes determined as he opened his mouth and breathed out thick fumes of smoke. "Flame magic, red sun." As if obeying his command the red sphere reappeared only this time it grew and continued to grow consuming everything around it at an astonishing rate, even the air itself was consumed.
Karlok’s eyes widened as he watched his skin started to get eaten by the flames leaving not even bone, seeing this he screamed. "No, I can not be hurt by flames." The fire grew and blinded the forest like a mini sun ignited on the surface of the earth, the heat emmited from it causing the beast folk to take cover. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Eryndor proceeded to speak under all of the chaos. "No one is immune to the sun, not even the devil himself." In his mind it sounded cool but it wasn’t till only after he had said it that he realised that it was anything but cool. A few seconds later the world quieted, the mercenaries, the beast folk, no one spoke as they watched and waited for the smoke to clear. It was time to reveal the victor.
As it slowly dissipated they could see a small red light which soon appeared to be Eryndor who was barely standing, his clothes had been torn roughly but there was no sign of them being burnt. He wheezed as he struggled to breath for seconds, his hands dangled by his side unable to move. He opened his eyes weakly as they lost their red radiance and returned to their ivory glow that reflected the moonlight.
Despite being heavily injured and crippled he still had a few words to voice to his opponent. "You should change your memory I think because you’re not longer fire resistant." After saying this he loses all consciousness and falls forward only to be caught by Merylin the orange haired beast girl. They both collapsed to the floor, both in a shape that was not deemed favourable.
Merylin held his head and let it gently fall on her lap, "I can’t believe you still had to make another joke on your breath bed." She could not believe she was worried about a stranger. Well he did save their home, she looked away from his pale face and at what remained of the on e mighty troll.
Before her was two legs, one reached below the knee and the other a little bit above it, they were both roasted black and smoking, the white of the bones underneath could clearly be seen. The rest of the body apart from this had become smoke and ash destroyed by whatever technique he had used. She had never seen such power and technique and in the body of a youth, looking at the face of their saviour in her lap she felt an odd sensation in her chest and it was not one of compassion but of concern.
Everything he had done, risking his life, fighting off the mercenaries was because she asked. She did not know whether to call him a fool or a saviour or both. She could hear her tribes mighty roar as the chased off after the mercenaries. Some were captured and others killed but none was spared from the wrath of the beast people.
Unable to move Merylin stayed there staring at the pale face of the white haired boy for a few minutes before she became dizzy and her breathing becoming shallow. Just before she passed out she saw something flowing on the neck of the boy. She fell on her back and blacked out with Eryndor still wheezing in her lap before he calmed down a moment later as the holy year item given to him by Elantha before they separated started to heal him mildly.
Meanwhile the prisoner in the steel cage smiled even deeper as he said. "The red sun? This will be very, very interesting." With that he continued his ominous melody filling the air with melancholy.
