Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 83. Growing Chaos
83. Growing Chaos
Withing the growing chaos stood and old man with long grey hair and a long white tail, he carried a number of children in his arms and on his shoulder as he walked away from the heat of the battle and the destruction of their home, around his neck was a number of beads and his on his hands and feet.
As he walked forward his legs and feet started to give off smoke from having walked through the scorching fire trying to keep the children safe. He huffed and puffed with ragged breath, hot sweat slid down his face and his ears were deafened by the cries of the children in despair and of those that had lost their parents to the tragic incident.
Try as he might to comfort them but their cries only increased. He stumbled over a tree root that came out of the ground and fell forward unable to carry the children and maneuver himself at the same time but instead of falling into the ground he felt something pull him back up and when he turned to look around there was no one there. To this he smiled weakly and turned to walk.
"Thank you Nemus." He prayed as he was staring to reach the outer end of their home dwelling where a forest of trees stood untouched by the flames of the battle. There a number of beasts kin ran out, some of them parents, others just caring civilians and before them was the sister to the beast girl that had attacked Eryndor.
After reaching the old man and relieving him of the children they tried to help him to the safety of the forest but he refused. Knowing he would not accept their offer they let him be leaving him with the sister of the beast girl.
The old beast man looked around for a short while then back at her and asked. "Where is your sister? She should have returned by now."
The beast girl grabbed the helm of her shirt nervously and responded. "Merylin went back into the battle."
The old beast man almost screamed. "She did what? That cub will never learn restraint but the situation calls for it, I just wish she would be okay."
The beast girl proceeded to speak in a more comforting voice. "She will. She brought back an elf boy, he’s her friend I think and he’s really strong."
The old elf screamed this time and suffered for it with a fit of coughs. "She did what?!" But he knew she was not someone to do such so there must have been a plausible explanation. "As chief of this tribe and elder I have to head back and provide more support to the warriors. Stay here and watch over them grand daughter. I need to see this so called savior for myself."
The beast girl proceeded to hesitate and scream at her grandfather. "No! I’m going back in to help Merylin."
Her grandfather gave her a deep scowl. "Elze your place is here watching over the cubs." She proceeded to defend herself but the old chief cut her off. "Unlike Merylin you are far less likely to offer much support and your mana is nearly depleted."
On hearing this the beast girl’s mood dampened and the chief turned to leave. "At least heal your wounds before you go."
The beast tribe chief looked at her and asked. "When did we have a healer I had no knowledge off."
Else gestured to Elise who was busy healing some of the warriors, her face was starting to look pale and thin from overexerting her mana. "Merylin brought an healer back with her."
The beast tribe chief almost screamed, "What is the meaning of this, why does she keep bringing in intruders?"
Just then they felt a huge spike of energy causing everyone to shiver. The elder then looked in the distance to see two figures, one had shining white hair and the other orange hair, he could also see a huge monstrous figure making its way towards them through the smoke. From experience he could tell instantly that this was beyond their capability.
"Is this how our tribe will end?" He said openly.
Elze opened her mouth and spoke. "What if we free the prisoner?"
The chief’s eyes went wide with fear and shock. "That psychopath is not to be trusted, he is to not be freed no matter what."
Eryndor had just been asked by the strange figure why he was aiding the beast people and to that he responded. "Lemons." He smirked to himself trying to bring up his morale before he would charge fully into the battle.
The voice boomed with a loud thunderous laughter and said. "Is that all? What a foolish reason, being enticed by the attributes of a beast kin. I seem to understand your plight, join me and you will have that in abundance."
Eryndor looked over his shoulder and locked eyes with the beast girl and said. "You flank him and I’ll attack."
She did not pay him any attention for a while and then her huge expressive eyes fell on him and she said. "Only if you can keep up, but can you beat him?"
Now that was a question that needed answering, Eryndor raised his head and said with a wide smirk. "Honestly I wish I knew the answer to that."
The answer he got made him cought. "You’re a moron."
"I take it you have chosen to die with them then?" The voice boomed.
Eryndor loosened his shoulder and pressed his feet on the ground. "Sorry I’m not gay, I’d rather die with a beauty behind me."
The beast girl did not know how one could joke in such a serious situation, she bit down on her pride and chose to fight by his side in this desperate state.
"Hahahaha." A loud book sounded. "Pity, pity. Why do the young talents always have to waste themselves?"
Eryndor knew his chances of beating their opponent was slim but he wanted to bet on a little thing called synergy. He had seen how the beast girl moved from when they first fought so fighting by her side might have been easier than he thought.
