Chapter 69: 69. The Elf Called Eryndor Sylvaren

69. The Elf Called Eryndor Sylvaren

A cold breeze blew through the mountain region which was a frozen world of white. Over time seasons changed but but never seeming to affect the forever frozen landscape, the creatures that survived here doing so by their own abilities and the beasts unforgiving. A long time had passed since the beasts that plagued this area roamed wildly, a sudden calm had taken the mountain since the fall of its tyrannical king.

The unsettling calm had become a constant scenario as even the beasts were caustius of every move they made, fearing that the new threat would appeared once again. Years passed with things returning to its usual pace nothing was heard of the slayer of the mountain wolf king for so long, even the forest seemed to forgot he ever existed. The bones of the mountain wolf king were the only testament to what transpired that day.

And just like a beast waking from it’s slumber the long silence was shattered like a wall of thin glass. "Alright! In your damn face you old geezer!" The voice caused the creatures that dwell in the shadows to shiver.

The blazing sun burned brightly, the wind was at a moderate pace. The source of the noise was not from the mountain’s peak nor was it on a lower hill. In the sky there was a large bird with big graceful white wings like canopies, it circled in the air for a minute before cutting down through the air like a a missile. A few metres from the surface of the ground it slowed it’s descent and flew in the direction of the edge of the land where the snow separated from dry land and perched on the head of figure that stood there.

It was the border of the ice mountain region, the person who had caused an uproar all those years ago was now looking to spread his chaos else where. A bright smile beamed on his face as he spoke. "Good riddance you forsaken thundra." He looked back at the distance where the expanse of the mighty mountain stood. The shades of white and spots of black. He looked at the different peaks on the mountain recalling memories from the time he had spent on each. He could see where he had fought with the mountain wolf king, he could see the section of the mountain where his home had been.

His eyes trembled as he sighed with a heavy heart, his once happy mood now broken. He had a weak smile on his face as he stayed there for seconds doing nothing but stare. After a long while he spoke to the wind.

"This is it guys, it’s goodbye to this place." He said with a heavy heart, he had been so excited to be finally leaving the icy mountain that had been so isolated from the outside world that he failed to consider that he would be leaving behind a piece of himself.

On this very mountain was where he had almost died multiple times, it was truly a memorable testament. It was there he had met Thalvarin his teacher and in a way, father figure. It was where he had met Snow’s mother and also where he had made his first ally and also had his second ally which was the spawn of the mountain wolf king— King. It was on this very mountain that he had found his resolve and tailored it into a weapon.

Just then the voice of his master spoke in a calm manner. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

["You humans always break at the lightest things, don’t go crying on me kid"]

Eryndor felt a clump in his throat before he swallowed it down and chuckled nervously. "No, I won’t be doing anything so stupid anytime soon." He turned and stayed to walk away from the mountain after giving it one last look. Ahead of him King was barking happily as he hopped between the borders of the an icy landscape and a perfectly normal land. "At least one of us is extremely eager to leave this damn place." He said with a light smirk.

Eryndor believed that whatever had kept the mountains frozen was very powerful magic and not his concern at the moment. As he walked out into the wide world he could not help but laugh at it, the fact that he was walking out with his own two legs and by his own power was something to laugh at considering who he was prior to all of this.

To be honest Eryndor did not have any intent if heading back to the elf empire or the royal family. He had much better plans in mind and that was simple, to become a high ranked adventurer and to do that he woukd have to go to the nearest adventures inn or guild hall. It would be the best way to test his abilities in real time and earn rewards from them.

Four years had now passed since Eryndor had first set his foot on the icy mountain and he was now twelve. His white hair had somehow grown longer reaching to the base of his neck and matched the snow around him, his face was unusually pale, his eyes were much brighter and sharper and his jaw more angular. His shoulders were much broader and having small fibres of muscle as a result of his crude training routine. He wore the ice fur cloak he had gotten from slaying the mountain wolf king on top of a longe white tunic and dark trousers. For footwear he has thick fur boots. Hanging on his beach was the necklace his sister Elantha had given him on the da of their parting. On his left ear was the earring of his uncle that marked the completion of his trials and a model student of the cinder king.

Around his waist was a long sword strapped to it, it hilt was a few inches long and looked to be constructed of strong steel. It’s blade of a much higher grade than his previous one. On his other side wrapped in straps of thick cloth was what he truly valued more than all else. The mid grade magic staff given to him by his uncle. It amplified his magic to a new level and his mana control was more elevated. On top was the magic orb that had been fitted to it much later to amplify it’s power.

The current Eryndor was nowhere near that degenerate he was in both his past life and his new life, he was now much more competent than he ever was and a much more competent intermediate level mage.

"Damn it’s so hot out here." Remarked Eryndor who had been too used to the flame body tempering art causing him to dispel it immediately. He looked out at the wide expanse of the world. The mountain peaks in the distance that did not look to be covered in snow, the green trees, the lakes and rivers unfrozen and best of all there was no cold or snow in the air.
