Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 64. Fighting The Mountain Wolf King (3)
64. Fighting The Mountain Wolf King (3)
It was not due to the will to live, Eryndor could care less about that at the moment. What drove his mind at the moment was the need for blood, the need for vengeance.
He let out a primal roar, his tone darkening into something chaotic. His vision blurred for a moment and he felt a surge of power, it felt eerie familiar quite similar to what he felt from the legacy only much more real. Ebergy poured into his body and magic crackled around him in the form of a large vortex of air.
The mountain wolf king just inches from Eryndor froze it’s hair standing up. The air around them twisted and turned like huge turbines. The power Eryndor felt only lasted for a few seconds but he made good use of it and poured all of it into his flame magic. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
While the mountain wolf king was still frozen by the strange phenomenon Eryndor charged at it and summoned the largest stream of flame he could and threw it at the mountain wolf king. There was an explosion of fire and wind that surpassed what a beginner mage should be capable of, Eryndor suspected that his abilities had been boosted a rank abive his current rank or higher. Was such a thing possible?
Not wanting to question himself and lose the leverage he had just gotten he sent all of his flames flying at the beast. The stream of fire pushed it back greatly almost falling over the edge of the plateau but the beast was still stubborn enough to cling to it’s life. Eryndor did not feel any assurance that the strange primal form of power he had unlocked would last for more than a few seconds and he needed to send the mountain wolf beast flying off the edge as soon as possible.
From Eryndor came a thin line of light that shot out of his palm, at first he thought of it to be another layer of flame but from the way the flames parted as it shot forward at light speed he was able to tell that it was something entirely different. If he did not know any better he would say it was another form of magic and most likely light magic. Was there even light magic to begin with?
As the line of light left him so did all his newfound power. He felt a huge drain but fought against his pain and sprinted forward.
The mountain wolf king pushed against the flames that roared at it, the only thing that kept it from going over the edge of the plateau was its massive build and survival instinct. It was confident in it’s ability to charge through the flame, even as it’s fur started to burn. That all changed when the line of light came, the speed at which it came was unpredictable. The proud awakened beast was not given a second to acknowledge what had happend as the line of light tore through one of its fire arms cutting it clean off the should before it vanished.
The awakened beast felt it’s body go light as it staggered to adjust to its own weight, it’s eyes shot down to see it’s forelimb drop to the ground leaking out red ooze, it’s eyes widened as it’s mind struggled to accept what had just happened. Surely it was the first time it had suffered such a huge loss. This all took a second before it’s attention was drawn yet again to the rapid sound of the crunching of snow. It raised its head to see its prey just feets away and let out a raging roar. It thrust it’s tail at him.
Eryndor did not waste a second despite the shape his body was in, he had not expected line of light to do such damage but time was off the essence. He dive under the beasts tail and gripped his blade tighter, his footwork played the second form of the moon style sword art. "Twin crescent moon!" He boomed as he struck the beast in the face causing it to pull back. Next he threw all of his momentum into shoulder and sent the awakened beast stumbling backwards. The ground beneath them shattered, having been cut by his second blade swing.
With the edge of the plateau gone there was nothing t keep the awakened beast standing on the mountain. The mountain wolf king’s eyes widened even more unable to come to terms with the strange turn of events, Eryndor’s face held a dark look on it betraying empathy. He opened his mouth and said, "Gravity’s a bitch!" Giving parting words to his worthy for.
Unable to control it’s momentum the mountain wolf king fell first, clawing at the air and riaring wildly but to no avail. Moments passed and it crashed into the surface of the earth, instead of the beds of snow it met a bed of ice spikes erected to reach a few feets. The spikes impaled the beast as it collided with them, and explosion of snow filled the air.
Eryndor grinned. "Serves you right you damn mutt."
He and Snow had spent hours working in the bed of ice spikes as the trap that would incapacitate the beast. The only flaw in their brilliant plan was that pushing the awakened beast down the right side of the plateau had a low success rate but it had worked. Eryndor did not waste much time before he started to scale down the mountain, using the bow and arrows he had set aside earlier and a bundle of rope he had recovered from his original bag he was able to lessen the burden.
But the pain that erupted from his wounds on every move he made was maddening. Snow’s sympathy being channeled into him was the only thing keeping him from running mad himself. Minutes passed before he reached the bottom of the mountain, there were pools of red. His boots made splashes as he walked in them.
With one hand clutched to his bleeding side and the other holding the hold of a broken sword he approached the mountain wolf king where it lay on his deadly trap. A number of ice spikes coming out from it’s under belly, one of its eyes had been pierced letting a thing ooze if red ti flow from it. The other eye had scars around it, Eryndor grunted with every move. The awakened beast and king of the beasts looked at him with its one good eye and gave what seemed like a pained moan.
Half of its face was soaked in blood and some other parts scarred it burnt. Eryndor stood there for a few minutes watching it suffer with a cold glare in his eyes, he watched it breath even counting the number of breaths till he lost interest. He still carries a deep rage towards the beast from all the pain and suffering it had given him. He let his sword which had been shattered in half when he broke through the ledge fall to the ground.
Next he summoned white fang and walked over to the awakened beast and started to torture in the mist horrible manner possible. He started to cut throught it’s flesh while the beast still strained to breath. Snow circled overhead watching over her master in silence, Eryndor with a dark look in his eyes cut through its thick hide and flesh, digging into the beast with uts insides still warm delivering unimaginable pain to it. Over an hour passed, all the snow in the area had been covered in a thick pool of red and Eryndor was still within the beast stabbing at its organs.
A few more minutes passed before the legacy announced his victory, by that time he had found what he was looking for. In his hand were two huge marbles of a light great colour. He passed the cores of an awakened beast to his chest and said.
"Who’s king now?" He gave a hearty laugh before walking into the light and collapsing next to the corpse of the mountain wolf king.
