Chapter 2147  Icarus and Christos

For Christos' words, the assistant stood there like he swallowed a bug.

"Sir, the seniors… I don't know if they would be willing to do this."

Christos looked at him and said.

"One failure and they all turned into cowards? What the fuck are they useful for? The reason a Second grade student like me took over the duties of the league was because they could shut the fuck up and focus on increasing their strength and skills.

Icarus was a guy who got kicked out of this school, because he didn't have anything these guys have. Neither the background, nor the resources.

And now they are shaking in their boots to fight him?"

"Sir, you also know what happened that night in Nalan's restaurant."

Christos gritted his teeth and sighed. He slumped into the chair and held his glabella trying to get rid of this headache.

A few days, he passed down a similar order.

To deal with Icarus that very night. And the seniors all expressed their delight up on getting the chance to crush this once powerful figure and gain some glory in process.

They even felt lucky when they found out that Icarus was going to the Nalan's restaurant to eat that night.

To deal with Icarus that very night. And the seniors all expressed their delight up on getting the chance to crush this once powerful figure and gain some glory in process.

They even felt lucky when they found out that Icarus was going to the Nalan's restaurant to eat that night.

So, they all donned their most regal battle attires and went to find him that night.

Many people saw them on the streets as over a dozen fourth graders of the Zeus Academy brandished their weapons and went to a restaurant of all places.

They were curious and followed them, but they went to the exclusive top floor, from which everyone else was barred.

They were expecting some kind of noise, at least. But they couldn't hear a thing the whole night. They thought these people were going out to fight someone, but there was no sign of it.

After waiting for hours, people didn't find a thing and had to go back. Rumors spread for the next couple of days, however no one really cared much. So many other important things were happening and this passed away.

Only the seniors that went in, Christos who gave the order, the assistant who saw the report, Nalan who arranged the encounter and finally, Icarus the man who committed the deed. Only they knew. Only they knew the nightmarish hell Icarus put them all through.

In fact, even Christos and the assistant only knew bits and pieces.

What they knew for sure was that the next morning, Nalan sent a message.

'Come and collect your people.'

Christos who was eagerly waiting for the news of Icarus' death, had to be greeted with that message. For some reason, he felt like he wanted to go there alone. When he went in there, he saw all the dozen seniors that were known across the realms as heroes.

They were huddled together, in a corner. With their clothes tattered. With their bones broken. With their skin flayed and many more burn wounds all of their bodies.

They were shivering in fright as they wept like the infants crying for their mother's milk. There were dried streaks of tears left behind on their faces. Their tears dried up, they couldn't even bring out one more. When they spotted Christos, all of them crawled towards him,

"Christos, save us. Please Save us."

"Home… I want to go Home. I cannot stay here."

"Water, give me some water."

They all cried. Cried like children and an inexplicable disgust rose from within Christos' heart. He instinctively kicked the hand of the senior away. And the next moment he realized what he did. After all, the senior is hundreds of times stronger than him. This senior could kill him in a second.

But to his shock, the senior didn't attack him in spite. The anticipated attack didn't come. He looked at the senior.

"S…S…Sorry.."

He was whimpering and apologizing. A peak stage Transcendent stage cultivator of the Divine Plane. He is whimpering like a puppy lost in a winter night. A puppy that was afraid of incurring the ire of any stray pedestrian.

He looked at the rest of them and felt his heart go heavy.

He contacted his assistant to bring these people away. He then went to meet Nalan.

"What happened to them?" He asked.

Nalan looked at Christos.

"What do you think happened? They came, they fought and they lost. That is all there is to it. If you want more details, go and ask Icarus."

"You…"

"Christos, you don't want to add another enemy to your list. It is already long enough. I might not mean much in the grand list of your enemies, but right now, I just could be the last straw that breaks your back.

So, pay for the tables they broke yesterday and get the fuck out of my restaurant."

That was all he got.

The news needn't be suppressed more, because it didn't come out to begin with. However, he still felt that something is wrong. It almost felt like the other party knew they were coming. And that feeling was a bit too familiar.

Still, he couldn't do much as many more problems were there on his head.

Now, this day.

He sighed once again as he remembered that day. "What should we do? The seniors became too cowardly, the juniors couldn't do shit. The academy is filled with people who are about to go perform their twelve labors. We are neck deep in debt and if we don't solve that, the league that was present for thousands of years will be destroyed.

The academy itself might collapse.

What do we need to do?"

He spoke out loud, as if he was asking the assistant. But he was just speaking to himself. The pressure was too high.

After some time, he stood up and said.

"Tell the people that are about to leave for the Pocket dimension that their debt will be settled. But they will have to pay up with some equivalent to that.

I will try to find a way out of this."

The announcement was made and he went out. He directly went to the Hub and asked for Icarus. He thought he wouldn't be able to meet him. However, Icarus invited him in to the office and said.

"What brings you here?" Icarus asked.

"Why are you doing this?" Christos asked in return instead of answering the question.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. Why are you pushing the Zeus Academy into the corner? I investigated your case, your fight was with those two stupid elders who went after the clan and conducted a genocide.

I don't know why you are so pressed on that case, but you did, you got involved. You didn't gave power, they strong armed you. Now, you got power and you screwed them over. The matter should have been over.

Why are you targeting the Dean and the rest of the Zeus Academy."

Icarus chuckled and said.

"It seems like you are still far away from becoming a true leader of the league. They might have put you up for the task too soon."

Christos frowned and said.

"I would appreciate an answer instead of you trying to insult me and my competence."

"Alright. Here is your answer.

My problem was not just the Elders. They never were, they were just the most rotten part of it. My problem was and has always been with the ways of the Zeus Academy.

And hearing the way you speak. Talking so lightly of a genocide, I am only more sure that this fight is necessary."

Christos gritted his teeth and said.

"Every damn day, a genocide happens at some corner of the world. Why don't I see you fighting everywhere? It is just personal vengeance. Don't glorify yourself."

Icarus chuckled again.

"I never denied that it wasn't personal. And my personal grudge with the ways of the Zeus Academy. Sheltering the Elders like that and even after they were found out, they were used as a bargaining chip in some backhanded deal with Theron.

They should have been punished according to the laws of this place, because they committed the crime in the name of this place.

And why were they let off scot-free? Because the Dean wanted his niece safe, the elders wanted the benefits given by the Dean and the judges want the favor given by the dean.

The students many of whom are part of clans like the one that got destroyed. But they don't have a care for it. Because of your conditioning in this academy.

And you are right, genocides happen all the time. But more often than not, they happen for personal grudges, wars, revenge, punishment or a show of strength. But your Elders did it to gain the favor of an entity that was despised by gods they preach so much about.

And they dared to shun me to silence and damn me to suffering because they are too scared to reveal their own rottenselves and this academy aided them in.

I will keep on pressuring the academy. Let it crack and let it break. I want to see it rebuilt and teach the things that its actually meant to teach."
