Chapter 48 - Gathering, And Finally Leaving To Yrgon

"So why exactly are you here?" Rael asked, his chin pointed at Linlin.

"It's not like I wanted to be here, but Her Majesty ordered me to come," Linlin replied with a shrug.

Don't tell me...

"Sorry for the wait," Zafira stated as she walked into the throne room.

The guards had guided him here, and of course, Linlin just so happened to be here as well.

And it was pretty obvious why.

"You're going to be on an envoy with a few of the officials, but since I've noticed you're pretty reckless, I'll have Linlin come with you for protection," Zafira explained, making Rael's brows twitch.

"I'll have you know, I don't like being treated as a child," he complained.

Zafira shook her head. "Don't think of it that way. I was joking when I said that. What I really meant is that Yrgon is not exactly the safest place for a royal to be. Their population is much larger than ours, so unfortunate accidents are bound to happen."

"I see... Well, company is always welcome, even if it's in the form of the nudis—Linlin," Rael said, nearly slipping up with the nickname.

But it seemed Zafira caught onto it. "Nudist? Mind giving me an explanation on that?"

"I-It's not important, Your Majesty," Linlin interjected, her cheeks red. "It was an embarrassing accident, and I can't believe he still uses that stupid nickname."

"She was walking around naked," Rael shrugged, and he could immediately see Zafira's brow twitch.

But before she could even say a word, Linlin shot back.

"I wasn't naked! It's not my fault I forgot my bra!"

"Sounds like something a nudist would say—"

"Stop it." Zafira cut them off with a hand on her forehead. "I don't care whether or not you forget your bra, or Rael sees you naked. The only thing that matters here is whether you two will make Celestara look like a bunch of idiots or not."

Despite her seeming relaxed and friendly most of the time, she was still a queen after all.

"Don't worry, it's just a joke between us. I'll use her real name whenever I have to," Rael assured.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Linlin said, performing a curt bow.

Of course, her distaste was clear, but Rael didn't mind it much.

Linlin was the type of girl who seemed the polar opposite of him.

She had her uses, in the same way he had his uses for her.

Rael glanced from Linlin to Zafira, and the moment their eyes met, she looked away—almost as if she were embarrassed.

But before he could call her out on it, a couple more people walked into the throne room, their outfits much fancier than his.

Of course, he had bought another pair of royal clothes, as the ones he had previously worn made him seem like some sort of nudist pervert.

I'm glad Linlin didn't see it... Else she'd have some leverage on me, Rael let out a relieved sigh as he greeted the people, whom he could only assume were the other envoys.

"Greetings to you all, I'm glad you could make it on such short notice."

They looked slightly shocked at his formalities as they glanced at Zafira, who shrugged.

"We didn't have a chance to get you all acquainted," Zafira stated. "Rael, the one in the weird robe is Leeroy the leader of this envoy. The blue-haired wizard girl is Kat, and last but not least, Sylas, the assassin."

"Assassin? Not rogue?" Rael asked with a tilt of his head, and Zafira merely nodded in response.

"Yes, he will be in the shadows while the four of you travel."

"I see..." Rael nodded as he turned back to the envoy. "I'm sure we won't need to talk much, as you all have your own duties. I'm going there on less formal matters after all."

"We're aware, Your Majesty. We will have someone impersonating you, while you may do whatever you please," Leeroy stated as he bowed once more toward the queen. "Our transportation is ready—may we depart?"

Zafira nodded at them. "You may. Good luck."

The envoy began walking out of the throne room, and Rael followed suit, with Linlin right behind him.

There weren't many words he could exchange with Zafira, as she seemed to grow more reserved after he mentioned Linlin's nickname.

Grumbling, he decided to clear things up.

Not even a moment later, he got a response.

Rael whistled as he replied.

Oh, and before I forget...

A smile appeared on his face as he typed the final message.

With that, Rael turned the interface off, and as he did, he was met with a frowning Linlin.

"You've been grinning for the last couple minutes. Is something funny?" she asked.

"I wasn't making fun of you, if that's what you were thinking," Rael said with a shrug. "Though, I'm surprised you lashed out like that in the throne room—not very lady-like."

"I'm not lady-like?" Linlin's eyes widened as she touched her body all over. "Are you blind?"

"It seems like I was mistaken," Rael remarked, speeding up his pace. "Those pink panties of yours are definitely lady-like."

"Y-You! How—"

"I guessed." Rael held back a laugh as they finally approached the carriage.

The envoy had gone ahead, as he had been busy texting with Zafira.

But aside from that, everyone was here, and they were all ready to leave.

However...

"Why are there two carriages?"

"Your Majesty, it is best we separate," Leeroy said before explaining. "Your guard will be protecting you, and we'll be up front, acting as decoys."

Rael slowly glanced back at the glaring Linlin before letting out a sigh.

She's definitely not going to shut up, is she?
