Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 341: Entering the Colosseum
Chapter 341: Entering the Colosseum
"So let me get this straight..." Lilith rubbed her temples. "You went into the bathroom, took a piss, and your horns suddenly grew?"
"Mhm."
She slammed her fist down on the throne’s armrest.
"Do you seriously expect me to believe you? No... let alone that, I can’t even show you in public anymore."
"Why not?" Rael asked. "I’m a Darkness Demon, just a bit further down the evolution chain. Is it that big of a deal?"
"It’s a pretty big deal," Lilith replied with several quick nods. "If I were to show you around the Demonic Lands, the demons would start to revere you as their god! Only demons from Hell can reach such absurd evolutions, and if one of them roamed the world of mortals, how would it look?" The Demon Queen Lilith has seduced an Abyss Demon! That’s how it’ll look!"
"Right..." Rael scratched his cheek. "So what if we just trim down my horns? You know, cut two off and leave the right one?"
Lilith’s brows twitched as she slumped back in the throne, her expression turning lifeless.
Rael stared at her for a few moments before tapping the tips of his three horns, causing them to retract into his forehead.
He approached Lilith and leaned in, trying to gauge what she was thinking.
There seemed to be a faint connection between him and her, and once he focused on that connection, he heard a train of thoughts.
[Trim the horns... trim the horns? Trim the horns!? Seriously? The one thing that makes us special, and he wants to trim that!]
[No... he’s never been a demon before... I can’t blame him.]
She turned toward him and was slightly startled by his proximity.
"We can’t trim your horns," Lilith said, coughing once. "If we do, then we’re bound to get backlash from the Demonic Gods."
"The who now?" Rael tilted his head. "How exactly are they tied to my horns?"
Lilith paused and let out a sigh.
"Every Demonic race has a Demonic God watching over them. Since we are the Darkness Demons, we have the Demon of Eternal Darkness watching over us," she explained. "But in short, cutting horns is taboo, and the only time it’s allowed is when a demon has betrayed their kind. In that case, we cut off the demon’s horns and toss the demon into a pit of magma."
A faint smile appeared on her face, but she soon froze.
"W-What I mean is, you can’t. Okay? No cutting horns, we’ll find another way out of this."
So this is like a religion then, Rael thought with a hum. She thinks there’s a higher being watching all of her actions. Taboo is interesting though. Does she think some important god is going to smite a Grade 1 nobody? Hmm...
For the sake of being nice, Rael decided to follow her whims.
"Alright, I’ll buy a disguise then," Rael said and reached into the premium shop.
After a few moments of looking around, he managed to find what he was looking for.
—Shapeshifting Potion: Darkness Demon (Rare)
Take on the appearance of a Darkness Demon for 8 hours. Visual only.
Before Lilith could even process what was happening, he drank the potion. In the next moment, a single horn emerged from his forehead.
He looked the same as he had a few minutes ago, and because of that, Lilith let out a relieved breath.
"Okay... that works. Let’s get going with the ceremony before that potion wears off," she stated and rose from the throne.
She walked behind the throne and pulled out some sort of green crystal.
And then, she broke it in two before flashing him a nod.
"I’ve summoned all the demons in the Demonic Lands. Now we just need to meet them, follow me," Lilith added and leaped out of the nearby throne window.
Rael followed suit as they traveled through the courtyard, into the city, and eventually, they arrived at a giant colosseum.
Moments later, thousands of demons swarmed the colosseum, all of them making their way to their seats.
However, as more and more demons approached, the colosseum, which could hold tens of thousands, was soon filled up. The demons who didn’t manage to get a seat stood wherever there was space, some even jumped onto the very top of the colosseum, while others floated in the air.
From Rael’s estimates, there were around 82,000 demons present watching this entire scene unfold, and from the trembling of the ground itself, he knew there were plenty more outside.
"Alright... we’ve gone this far, so there’s really no going back now," Lilith remarked with a giggle. "After five minutes, we are going to exchange a few hits. The goal is to show who is stronger between the King and the Queen. It’s a tradition, so don’t feel bad if you lose. No one will ridicule you for losing against someone like me."
Rael rolled his eyes. "You wish. I’m not planning on losing."
A faint smile appeared on Lilith’s face as she waited for the gathering of demons to finish.
In the corner of his eye, Rael spotted a few demons that had weird characteristics, such as several horns and even extreme bloodlust.
Just in case, he inspected them, but he was left thoroughly surprised.
—Astaroth, The Demon of Hatred [Grade 2 Duke Class | Level 1,852] - Vitality: Tier 7 [100% / 100% HP] fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
—Loraine, The Demoness of Desire [Grade 3 Duke Class | Level 499] - Vitality: Tier 9 [100% / 100% HP]
What the fuck are demons of this caliber doing here? Rael thought warily.
But Lilith simply patted his shoulder and pointed the middle finger at those two people.
"Don’t worry, they’re overseer demons. They mostly come around when a big event is happening. Since your coronation is a big event, they naturally arrived. But they’re harmless since their masters forbid them from fighting," Lilith explained and flashed another middle finger. "And yes, I don’t like them being here either. They ruin morale with their gloomy presence."
"Ain’t that right..." Rael muttered, when all of a sudden, Lilith pushed him back.
The sheer force sent him skidding across the colosseum floor and when he looked back toward her, he saw a cheeky grin on her face.
So the spar is starting, huh?
