Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 312: The Settlement
Chapter 312: The Settlement
The burial didn’t take long, and after it was done, they all made their way back to the city.
It seemed like Minos had grown a pair of balls as well, since every now and again, he retorted to Rael’s words.
Or rather, he had grown a single ball, since the only words he responded to were those related to Melissa.
Nevertheless, after a few hours of walking, they had arrived at the city.
Since Julian was the one most interested in her, he had explained the whole ordeal.
She had created a guild of sorts and called it the Night Brigade.
It was definitely a cringy name, but it really was his sister if she had a bad naming sense.
"Hey, want a drink?" Todd asked. "We’ll be going to one of those old pubs. Turns out the alcohol was preserved."
Rael shook his head. "I’ll be going to Melissa’s camp. So don’t mind me."
"Hmm... suit yourself," Todd replied with a shrug.
With that, he turned around, preparing to leave.
But that was when Jane suddenly approached and tugged at Rael’s sleeve.
And her next words were a little unexpected.
"Can I come with you?"
Rael tilted his head. "Why?"
"Because I don’t want to laze around here," Jane said plainly. "If you hadn’t come and I somehow managed to survive, then I would’ve gone out to level up as much as I could."
"So you’re just tagging along for the sake of it?" Rael mused. "I mean, I don’t exactly care whether you come with me or not. Just know that I won’t be slowing down my pace for you, nor will I give you any freebies. If we do Shrines, it’ll all be based on contribution."
He met her gaze.
"But don’t you think you’re forgetting something?"
Jane’s brows twitched as she slowly turned around, flashing Minos a glance. She then turned back to face Rael.
"We’re old enough to make our own choices... and he already made his choice," she said in a low voice. "He was up for it at first, but after what happened earlier, it seems like he’s back to his usual self."
"And if he dies while you’re away?" Rael asked. "What if you’re the crutch that he needs to stay sane here?"
She paused for a few moments before letting out a sigh. freewebnσvel.cøm
"I can’t do anything about that. I’m not going to sit around doing nothing just like him."
Hmm... yikes. I guess this really is where they part ways. Though Minos is taking this a lot better than I expected, Rael thought. Here I was thinking he was going to lash out at her like a child... but enough time has passed for him to stop acting like one.
So with that in mind, Rael sent a wave toward Todd and the others.
Yet as he was prepared to leave, he noticed Shina, Natasha, and Elizabeth separate as well.
Shina especially flashed him a slight smirk before walking off into the distance.
Todd grumbled.
"Yeah... they wanted to go their separate ways as well. I guess the drinks are a no-go."
Rael tilted his head, yet he didn’t say anything.
With two members dead and the rest not having much of a reason to stay, the group was disbanded.
"I’ll take Minos along with me," Todd announced. "So don’t worry. I’m planning on meeting up with some people I used to know back in the military. They have their own guild, so Minos and I will join."
Jane nodded and gave Minos a small wave.
Minos seemed a bit reluctant to part, but the determination was clear in his gaze as he waved back at her.
And with that, they went their separate ways.
However, Rael soon noticed that an extra somebody was following after Jane and him.
It was none other than Julian.
"Is it that surprising?" Julian asked. "I don’t really want to join some army guild. I’d rather just roam around with you two."
"Aren’t you supposed to ask first if it’s alright to join?" Rael brought up.
Julian shrugged and let out a chuckle. "Why? You don’t want a capable healer behind you?"
"Fair enough," Rael replied. "Welcome aboard."
"Heh..."
With that, Julian led them to the Night Brigade’s survivor camp.
.
.
.
"Damn," Rael muttered, looking at the sight ahead.
The survivor’s camp looked like a fortress with high metal fences acting as the walls which encircled an entire neighborhood.
And of course, inside, there were regular houses, and even some tents too.
There were grills and furnaces everywhere as the pleasant aroma of cooked meat lingered in the air.
But Rael simply gulped down his desires as he approached the entrance where two armored guards stood.
One of the guards raised their hand, stopping them.
"Why have you come here? Are you seeking refuge or pleasure?" the guard asked with a sly smile.
"Bit of both," Rael replied flatly. "Can we get in now?"
"Not yet." The guard shook his head. "We first need to confiscate every weapon you own. we don’t want any infighting inside the settlement, you know?"
"And if we refuse?" Rael asked, placing his hand on the hilt of his glowing blue sword.
The guard’s brows twitched. "If you refuse, then you simply won’t be allowed inside. If you try to break in, then we won’t have any choice but to forcefully deal with you."
"Alright, see you later then," Rael replied plainly and turned around, meeting the confused looks of Jane and Julian.
He gave them a quick wink, signaling his plan. "Go on ahead. Don’t worry about me."
Thankfully, they got the hint, so after walking forward, they got right past the two guards and went inside.
After all, one of them was a healer, while the other was a mage. They didn’t have weapons.
As for Rael, he walked into a nearby alley, then entered the Soul Realm.
Soon after, he made his way back to the guards, and simply went past them.
He looked around and it didn’t take long to spot Jane and Julian, who were right beside a grill, snacking on some grilled meat.
Rael let out a chuckle as he reappeared beside them, startling them.
More importantly...
Now I just have to wait for my sister to come back.
