Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 35: SHOCK
As Aiden broke free and readied to fight, a change occurred. A sudden flash appeared in the sky.
Aiden widened his eyes in shock as he looked at the figure that was descending.
"Rest, you have tried," the man said, his voice calm.
"Master Levi," he said, bowing slowly as Levi’s feet touched the ground. In the face of Levi, the super guardian was no longer relevant to Aiden. "I can handle it."
"Don’t worry, go meet Lucan."
Aiden did not argue; he followed Levi’s instruction immediately.
Although Levi did not act like he cared when he heard the terror of destroying trees in a treant’s area, he had actually sent one of his clones to watch and to only act if they were in trouble.
Levi gazed calmly at the super guardian, his eyes calm like those of a seasoned sage.
Of all of Levi’s clones, this one was the calmest and smartest. It never fought with weapons; it always chose to fight at ranges, spamming skills limitlessly at its enemies.
The super guardian looked at Levi; even he felt terrified by the power Levi poured out subconsciously. But that was all, as beings of revenge, even fear, could not make them back down.
The guardian burst forward, its sword facing backwards as it charged for a strike. Levi just stood calmly, his eyes scanning the monster that charged in recklessly.
As it reached a few meters away from him, a spike erupted from the earth, piercing through the soles of the guardian’s leg, but it did little to slow him down.
It slashed forward with only one intention: To kill the person in front of it.
Levi just smiled. A hand of pure darkness appeared, catching the sword by the edge easily.
But the guardian adapted immediately, changing tactics in only a heartbeat.
Vines shot from the floor, each one spiralling towards Levi’s chest. Levi turned down sharply, his brows furrowed slightly before returning to calm.
A portal opened in front of him, sucking the vines in. Before the guardian could even react, another portal popped open behind him. From it, the vines shot out, piercing through the guardian’s back.
But nothing happened; the vines only got sucked into the guardian’s body like nutrients. With a forceful yank, it snapped the sword out of the nanite palm.
It swung forward again, this time aiming for Levi’s head.
A flicker of light, and the blade struck emptiness. Levi was no longer there, appearing in a nearby tree. The entire forest quieted as they stared at each other. Levi finally looked the monster in the face after climbing a tree.
For a moment, space seemed to still as they gazed at each other.
"Too weak," Levi finally scoffed, gazing at the guardian from the tree he stood in. As he made that statement, the guardian exploded, spilling shards and splinters.
All he had done was break the spatial coordinates the guardian was, and compress it into itself, casual but deadly.
His hand moved slightly, drawing the soul towards Aiden.
Aiden accepted it quickly, storing it inside his pouch.
Levi’s eyes turned to Lucan, who lay unmoving on the ground. His brows arced subtly from surprise. ’Even Aiden could not cure him,’ he thought.
Aiden had more skills than even veteran gods, and even he could not find a skill to cure Lucan.
He stepped forward calmly, appearing before them in a single step.
Seeing him, Aiden stepped back. "The poison is very potent," he explained, his voice low and polite.
Levi did not reply; he casually took a potion from his spatial storage. He bent beside Lucan’s body and fed the potion to him slowly.
A green light covered Lucan’s body like another layer of skin. Shimmering motes of energy danced across his skin gently before everything dimmed.
Slowly, his eyes open. Everything was hazy at first, but slowly, everything became clearer.
His eyes widened in realisation as Levi came into view.
"Master Levi," that was the first word he uttered when he opened his eyes.
"Stand up, we have to catch up with the main body," Levi said, his tone cold and apathetic, not even bothering to acknowledge Lucan’s greetings.
Levi and Ruby, on the other hand, were just entering Thalen, the small village on the border of the elven domain. But even Levi was surprised by the scale of what they called small in this world.
Using the locator, he was able to see how far Thalen expanded, and it was beyond reasoning. Its landmass was more than triple that of Russia.
But he still found it reasonable in the end. With people who could move faster than the speed of light almost everywhere, Thalen was indeed small.
’Even I will reach the far end within 20 minutes,’ he thought with a smirk.
"Quantum, let’s go find an inn nearby. We need to find a place to live before we start any investigation," Ruby said from the side.
They had long returned the drifter to the spatial storage, choosing to walk instead.
"Okay, I could also use a hearty meal now," Levi said, rubbing his stomach. He had grown somewhat accustomed to Ruby.
"Same, I am famished as hell," she sighed, her head moving from left to right, scanning for any inn close by.
"I thought you were used to the elven domain. Why don’t you know any inn?" Levi asked, puzzled.
"I did not stay in a backwater village like Thalen; my father took me to Elunea, the capital of the elven domain," she said, her chest raised high like going to Elunea was a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.
"Is going to Elunea that big of a deal?" Levi asked, furrowing his brows.
Ruby stared at him like he was a weirdo before touching her forehead in disappointment. "Only those permitted by the queen can even go within a km radius of Elunea. Those that can enter are only her personal nobles and a few outside friends," she explained slowly. "Not like you humans know the significance of rulers, since all of you just share lands within yourselves. The only criterion is being a god."
Levi nodded at her explanation before smiling. It was true, the humans on Zenithra did not have any ruler, only nobles who ascended to godhood, taking care of their land and subjects.
"Oh, that’s an inn," she pointed at a two-storey building with a huge signboard labelled Gleamrest Inn.
