Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 28: PRINCIPAL HENRY
Levi’s eyes fluttered open gently. Flanking him were the two men from earlier, their expressions devoid of emotion.
They were in a long hallway lit with dim golden lights. At the far end was a huge, imposing blue door.
"The principal is beyond that door," one of the men stated plainly.
Levi nodded and stepped forward calmly. His hand still stung from the pain, but it barely even registered in his mind.
Levi’s palms rested on the doors, and with a slight push, the door flung open, revealing the captivating sight of the principal’s office.
A small hall that screamed opulence. Golden to even the tiniest thing, a pencil in front of him. The only non-gold was the paper in front.
"Good evening, principal," Levi bowed to the man sitting on a golden chair.
Henry did not respond immediately; his eyes were locked on the papers in front of him.
Levi did not try to greet again; he only stood there. As a god, Henry had noticed him even before he stepped through the door. Since he did not reply, it meant he was not ready to answer.
After a few seconds, Henry finally looked up. "Levi, how are you?" He asked, his voice calm and measured, filled with the energy of a person who had survived countless centuries.
"I am fine," Levi replied with a bow.
"Sit, I want to ask you some questions," Henry said.
Levi felt a headache stir as he heard the principal. ’I should have expected this when I decided to show all my elements,’ Levi thought, before walking to one of the seats.
Calmly, Levi sat on a chair adjacent to the principal. His gaze was straight as he stared at Henry.
"I saw your performance during the test," Henry began, his voice measured. "I understand that everyone has secrets, but using all elements, that’s terrifying." It appeared like he was looking at Levi, but his mind was far from him.
"But I won’t pry further; it’s your choice if you want to reveal it or not."
Levi nodded. He respected Henry for his wisdom. ’Somethings are better kept secret,’ he thought.
"I called you to extend an invitation to you," Henry said, his tone suddenly more serious.
Levi furrowed his brows at the sudden change in atmosphere. He also knew that someone as busy as Henry would not call him to his office just to tell him how terrifying his abilities were.
"You also know the Academy’s main mission, which is to train talented kids to represent the 9 races in the Astral Plain, and fight the growing threat of demons on Zenithra." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Levi nodded.
"Aside from that, the academy also recruits special talents to help investigate the Eclipsed Order. It is highly classified information, so only tier 7 and higher teachers know about it."
At this point, Levi could not help but speak. "Excuse me, Principal. Why can’t the teachers do that?" He asked.
The Eclipsed Order was strong enough to give the powerhouses of Zenithra a headache, and instead of sending powerful and capable teachers, they send budding students.
"All Teachers in the academy are god-tier experts, and their memories can not be erased, since their memory is a part of their existence. Erasing will weaken them drastically, and in worst-case scenarios, kill them. A god’s memory can at most be peeked at," Henry said, his lips curved till he finished speaking.
Levi absorbed each words, his mind moving at a rapid pace to connect the dots. Finally, he smiled.
"If a student is captured by the Eclipsed Order, even if the academy does not rescue them, they can erase their memory before it is scanned. But a god can not freely erase their own memory," Levi said back to Henry, simplifying his words to it’s barest form.
Henry nodded, his smile widening. "You are not only skilled, you are also very smart," he praised.
Levi received the praise with a smile.
"As an Imperial Spy, you are granted a lot of benefits," Henry proceeded. "First of all, no matter how easy a mission is, you get 30,000 points for taking a mission. You only refund it if you fail," he said, looking at Levi’s face for any change.
Then he continued. "As an Imperial spy, you have access to a special store within the academy, class exemption as long as you pass all exams. The benefits are more than that, you can only know all of it if you join."
"What happens if I refuse?" Levi asked.
"Nothing, we just erase your memory of the conversation before you leave."
Levi shifted slightly in his seat. He was also expecting that approach, but he asked to confirm his thoughts.
"Are you feeling tensed?" Henry asked.
"No, I am only contemplating my options," Levi replied politely.
"Be quick, you only have a minute to decide."
"I am in," Levi said, cutting Henry’s words.
Henry smiled. "Good choice. Put this chip into your assistant later to unlock the secret function," he said, handing a small, metal-like item that materialized in his hand to Levi.
Levi collected it, and stored it in his inventory, posing it as a storage ring.
"Also, as soon as you familiarize yourself with the system, there is a mission I am giving you myself," Henry added.
"Okay, Principal Henry. Also, am I the only one you chose?" He asked.
He was not delusional enough to think he was the only one the principal saw as worthy among the other students in the academy.
"No, there is one more, but I am not the one answering them, it is the vice-principal. And don’t be surprised if that person turns out to be your team mate."
"Team mate?" Levi muttered with a curious tone.
"You haven’t read the instructions, so let me explain this one. As an imperial spy, you will have a team mate just in case of dire situations."
Levi was about to speak again, when he felt a sudden distortion.
He looked around, before sighing. "He tossed me out of his office without even telling me," he said, his brows furrowed.
The principal had teleported him from his office, to the door to his mansion.Levi thought went to the chip he was given instinctively, curiosity bubbling in his mind as he thought of the secret function he was about to unlock.
