Raised From The Wild-Chapter 432: His Fiancee
In Albanya, Prince Raquim felt a tightness in his chest when he saw the unmistakable gleam in Amaya’s eyes when Marx handed her the bouquet. In that instant, a wave of bittersweet emotions washed over him.
Marx disappeared for two years and were only together for a few months before that. Yet, looking at the sparkle in Amaya’s eyes, her affection for him had not waned a bit.
The crown prince of Albnya clenched his fists as he lowered his gaze to look at the black liquid from a delicate porcelain mug, where white steam curled up like a mist.
Beside him, a delicate young woman placed her teacup down, her brows furrowing with quiet concern. "Are you alright, My Prince?" Lady Vitara asked softly, her gaze searching his face.
"I am fine, Lady Vitara." Prince Raquim answered, his voice serious and his face indifferent.
"How have you been these past few years, My Prince? My parents were adamant about me finishing college in Usturia, and they did not allow me to return even on breaks as I have to take classes in music, arts, and design."
"I am fine." He said, and a forced smile appeared on his handsome face. "So, how is life in Usturia? You looked different from four years ago. It looked like you were suited to the Usturian weather." Prince Raquim lifted his head and truly paid attention to the noble lady before him.
"It is exhausting... and dreadfully monotonous," Vitara admitted, her gentle smile betraying a hint of weariness. Yet, there was a warmth in her voice as she added, "I still love Albanya the most, for it is where my heart belongs." As she spoke, she couldn’t resist stealing a glance at the prince, her cheeks flushing slightly as she quickly cast her gaze downward, a shy smile playing on her lips, as if caught in a moment of sweet vulnerability.
"Of course. Everyone would always prefer their homes." Prince Raquim answered perfunctorily, his gaze shifting back to the screen of his mobile phone.
"Is that the Princess of Lireya’s graduation?" she asked, her voice strained with forced sweetness. Deep inside, though, she felt resentment toward the Princess. How could she steal her moment with Prince Raquim?
"Hmm!" Raquim hummed. Still, his gaze remained on the phone.
Vitara was somehow irritated. It had been four years since they last saw each other. While they occasionally video-called, it was still different from seeing each other in person. Did he not miss her at all like she did? She wanted to grab his cell phone and throw it away to have his full attention, but she restrained herself.
She leaned back and studied the face of the man who filled her dreams. Her father, the Duke of Elleryium, and the King of Albanya were close friends, so she and Raquim naturally grew up together and became childhood sweethearts. She was betrothed to him after the first princess of Lireya was reported dead in a plane crash.
"Princess Amaya is a dear friend of both Tamara and me," Raquim remarked, his voice tinged with a hint of regret. "I had truly wished to celebrate her graduation alongside her, but an official function came up, keeping me away." He cast a fleeting glance at her, his eyes momentarily flickering with emotion before returning to the soft glow of his phone’s screen.
Vitara’s chest tightened. She had long dreamed of this reunion, but it felt like she was invisible. Her fingers curled into fists. He wanted to attend her graduation? He had declined her own invitation, citing the distance. And yet here he was, utterly entranced by another woman’s moment.
"Oh, you make my heart ache, My Prince, " she said pitifully. I invited you to mine, and you readily declined.
Raquim sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "But Usturia is so far away."
"But I am your fiancee." Lady Vitara sounded aggrieved, and tears pooled in the corner of her eyes, but she blinked them away.
Another long sigh escaped his lips. "Don’t be sad. In the end, I’m still here with you, aren’t I?"
His words were meant to comfort, but they only left her feeling colder. As Raquim turned back to the screen, Vitara stared down into her untouched tea, feeling the bitterness seep into her heart. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
She picked up the cup and forced herself to swallow the tea, which had become more bitter as it had cooled.
No. She will not allow another woman to take her place in Raquim’s heart. Raquim could only belong to her.
She typed something on her phone before lifting her beautiful face and handing Prince Raquim an intricately wrapped box.
"This is my gift to you. This is one of my best designs, and I won an award for it." Vitara was smiling brightly. The dimples on her left cheek became visible, and coupled with her long dark lashes and red pouty lips, she looked alluring and pretty charming. Her black silky hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing her face, which had a lighter complexion compared to most Albanyans.
Raquim’s gaze held hers, and for a moment, he seemed mesmerized.
Vitara was elated. She had Raquim’s full attention, and a blush blossomed on her face, making her appear more mesmerizing.
Raquim carefully opened the box, and his black eyes—or rather deep brown eyes—registered a look of surprise. Encased in an expensive black velvet box was a wristwatch. It was a double-faced wristwatch with a reversible design, crafted from 18k white gold with a blue opaline dial, and the strap was made of alligator leather.
Raquim seemed impressed; his gaze softened. "Thank you, Lady Vitara. It’s beautiful."
Vitara rolled her eyes. "Why do you keep calling me Lady Vitara? Didn’t you use to call me by my nickname, Ara?"
Raquim cleared his throat. Indeed, he used to call her that, but she was still a child then, and that was a long time ago.
"Ah, you were just a child then, but now you are a noble lady."
"But I like you to call me Ara." She pouted before standing up and approached Raqium. "Let me put it on you."
Raquim wanted to object, but he was a gentleman, after all. And Vitara was indeed his fiancee.
The prince rolled his sleeve to reveal a sleek black watch on his left wrist.
"Amro1015, disengage." Prince Raquim commanded after placing the watch in front of his face.
"Disengaging in 3 seconds." A sweet, melodious voice came from the watch before a snap was heard.
Vitara froze. The voice was similar to the one she heard earlier giving a graduation speech.
