Raised From The Wild-Chapter 386: Boundless As The Sky 2
In the presidential suite of a luxurious hotel in the capital city of Zui Gao, the mountainous country of Chaneya, an elderly man kneeled before a man wearing a royal blue robe with a hood.
It was unknown whether the man was young or old as the hood concealed the upper portion of his face, showing only his lips and chin. The blue hood added an aura of intrigue to the enigmatic man.
The hooded figure sneered down at the elderly man still kneeling before him. He reveled at the sight of the once-proud scion of Chaneya’s most esteemed family reduced to such a humbling position.
"I bet you never thought you’d live to see this day," the hooded man remarked, a cold smirk playing across his lips.
"Grandpa, please stand up. You need not humiliate yourself like this." A man in his early twenties helped the old man get up, but the elderly man was rooted to where he was and continued kneeling.
"Shut up!" the man in the blue robe glared at the young man who was helping the elderly to get up.
"Rui, oh Rui. How does it feel to be helpless? Since we were children, you have always gotten the best of the world. You get whatever you want. You were always at the top of the class and even got the best girl in high school. But now, look at you, so humble and down on your knees." The man wearing the blue robe spoke with a voice overflowing with mockery.
"Why are you not saying anything, Rui? Have you gone mute because your precious son and granddaughter are at death’s door?"
"What else do you want, Jiro? I have kneeled before you and begged you. Isn’t this the condition you set to sell me the medicine?" The elderly man tried his best to control his emotions, but a tremor could still be detected in his voice.
"Show me your sincerity by removing your protective gear!" the man standing on an elevated platform, looking down on the kneeling old man, ordered like a deity.
"Grandpa, no!" The young man protested. He looked up at the hooded man with resentment in his eyes.
"Young man, piss me one more time, and no matter how much your grandfather begs, you will never get this medicine."
The young man lowered his head, while the elderly man took off his face shield and facial mask.
When the man in the blue robe saw the elderly man being obedient, he laughed maniacally.
"I was wrong, Rui. I thought you were formidable, but you are so weak. Who would have thought that the once valiant General, the proud heir of the Muzzi family, would give up his pride for a weak girl?" he said mockingly. "You are an abomination to the Muzzi clan. You will ruin the family’s good name by your hand."
The elderly man, who was called Rui, clenched his fists so hard that his fingernails drew blood from his wounded palms.
"Sign the deed to the Pearl South Island and the medicine is yours!"
The young man standing beside the elderly man gasped. Pearl South Island held immense significance for the Muzzi family, as it was home to a mine that produced the finest quality jade, which had become the lifeblood of their clan.
A lone tear pooled at the corner of the elderly man’s eye. The Pearl South Island was the result of his sweat and blood. Never in his dreams did he foresee that the best friend he had helped since he was young and trusted so much would betray him and push him to a dead end.
"The more you delay, the more dangerous it will be for your son and your precious granddaughter. Or maybe you are reconsidering? Your son and granddaughter’s lives are less important than the Pearl South Island?"
The old man’s trembling hand reached for the pen and the document neatly placed before him. He was still on his knees.
He leafed through the pages until he reached the last page, where his name was written in big, bold letters. He bent his body so he could affix his signature.
The man in the blue robe was watching the scene with anticipation. He schemed for a long time but failed. It was only when he joined the Dark Phoenix organization that he succeeded. Finally, he will be more powerful and richer than Rui. The Pearl South Island will be his.
There was a pin-drop silence in the room. The robed man and the retired General Muzzi’s bodyguards held their breath as they waited for the old man to sign the deed.
Suddenly, a powerful song from a famous male singer broke the silence.
I’ll be there someday. I can go the distance. I will find my way if I am strong. I know every mile will be worth my while. When I go the distance, I’ll be right where I belong.
Rui looked up at his grandson, who looked flustered as he hurriedly took his cell phone out of his pocket and answered the call.
His face brightened as he listened to the speaker on the other line. He bent and whispered something to his grandfather.
The brown eyes that were previously dim suddenly brightened. The elderly man held the hands that his grandson extended and stood up with difficulty. He had been kneeling for too long, and his legs had become numb; he almost fell back.
With great resolve, he straightened his legs and his back, and with the demeanor of a general, he turned around and signaled his guards to leave.
"Rui, what is the meaning of this? Don’t you want the medicine anymore?" The robed man said in a panicked voice. What was the call about? Did his son and granddaughter succumb to the virus? Impossible. They should have at least a day to live. He ensured that a small amount of the anti-viral drug was administered to them to control the spread of the virus.
The old general turned around slowly and locked eyes with the robed man. His piercing, cold gaze sent chills to the man standing on the platform.
"Jiro, your greed and jealousy are boundless. That is your fatal mistake!" Then he turned around, with his grandson by his side, and left the room.
It is human nature to be jealous and greedy. But for a few, it became as deep as the ocean, causing destruction and pain. But human love can also be as boundless as the sky!
