Rabbit Must Die-Chapter 689 - 285: Wudang Saintess [New book "Urban Fairy" updates.]_1
Dijun suddenly burst into hearty laughter, waved his hand, and said, "Stop watching, it’s time to make your move!"
The many generals of the Demon Clan’s Heavenly Court stood up one after another, saluted, and said, "Understood!"
The next moment, Jimeng, Shang Sheep, Guiche, and others left the reed huts, soaring up into the sky!
On the other side, Emperor Qinghua of the East sighed and said, "I would ask for Buddha’s assistance."
Tathagata Buddha nodded, and the surrounding Guanyin Bodhisattva, Puxian Bodhisattva, Wenshu Bodhisattva, Juliu Buddha, Dingguang Buddha, as well as various other Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats all stepped out, received the divine decree, and ascended directly into the clouds to join the battle.
Among them, Puxian Bodhisattva rode the Lingya Immortal while Wenshu Bodhisattva rode the Qiu Shou Immortal. These two immortals were most eager, sprinting all the way up into the sky.
Just then, a shout rang out: "Fellow Daoist, please hold your step!"
Wenshu and Puxian instinctively shuddered and turned to look, only to see a sneaky-looking Daoist riding on a black-spotted leopard approaching them.
"Shen Gongbao? Weren’t you blocking the eye of the North Sea?" Wenshu Bodhisattva asked tactically.
Shen Gongbao stroked his goatee and said, "The Heavenly Court is at war, and I am, after all, a divide-sea general. How could I stand by and watch? Fellow Daoists, what do you think this is?"
As he spoke, Shen Gongbao took out a Yellow Talisman in his hand.
Wenshu and Puxian Bodhisattva instinctively looked over, only to see the Yellow Talisman suddenly explode, a blinding golden light forcing them to squint their eyes, and they both thought at the same time, "Not good, it’s a trick!"
Almost simultaneously, the mounts of the two howled in rage, sending runes flying from their foreheads that shattered in mid-air!
The mounts, Green Lion and White Elephant, both stood up on their hind legs, and as they flipped the Bodhisattvas off their backs, they laughed heartily: "Thank you, Master, for rescuing us, and thanks to Elder Brother for the help! Finally, we are free, haha..."
Both mounts took out their weapons and turned to attack Wenshu Bodhisattva and Puxian Bodhisattva.
Although the two Bodhisattvas were flipped off their mounts’ backs, they were clearly not in a panic. Seeing the two immortals attacking, they merely smiled faintly, raised their hands, and pinned the two down on the ground.
Wenshu Bodhisattva laughed and said, "Years ago, you two indeed had great power, but over these years we have restricted your cultivation, suppressed your practice, precisely to prevent you from breaking your shackles and rebelling one day. Now that you really have rebelled, there is no turning back. You shall be executed!"
"Wenshu, Puxian, old fools, if you want to kill us, then kill us. Do you think we’re afraid of death?" the two shouted at the same time.
Just as Wenshu and Puxian Bodhisattva were about to act, Shen Gongbao laughed and said, "I call upon the lady for assistance."
In the next moment, the sound of horse bells tinkled as a carriage approached slowly from afar, and a terrifyingly immense pressure descended from the sky!
Wenshu Bodhisattva and Puxian Bodhisattva’s expressions changed dramatically, and they spun around, exclaiming, "Saintess of Mount Li?!"
"Fellow Daoists, from now on, please refer to me as Wudang Saintess!" As she spoke, the curtains of the carriage were drawn back, and a white-haired woman stepped out briskly, with red eyes, snow-white hair and feet, skin clear as crystal, and thin lips like blades, her eyes filled with a sky’s worth of murderous intent! Where was the former gentle and peerless Saintess of Mount Li?
"Back during the battle of the Thousand Immortals Array, Master ordered me to retreat, little did I expect that it would be our last farewell! Since leaving the Thousand Immortals Array, Master never saw me again, and I lived on in the name of Saintess of Mount Li... Friends of old died or were captured, and not only were some ennobled as damn Heavenly Gods, but you bastards also used us as mounts! I will avenge this eternal grievance today. Wenshu, Puxian..." As she spoke, Wudang Saintess’s gaze suddenly shifted to Juliu Buddha, who was attempting to retreat quietly behind everyone. Her eyes turned even redder: "What a dear little junior disciple! Master doted upon you, trusted you, and charged you with guarding the Thousand Immortals Array with the Six-Soul Banner. But look at what you did—handing over the Six-Soul Banner to pledge fealty to another, betraying the Jie Cult. Today, I shall act in Master’s stead to enforce the Heavenly Dao and slay you right here!"
With those words, Wudang Saintess’s figure suddenly enlarged, and in an instant, she was like a sky-covering dome, engulfing everyone beneath!
Dingguang Huanxi Buddha saw this and was so frightened that his soul nearly fled his body. Even though he had reaped many benefits in Buddhism over the years, Wudang Saintess was one of the most outstanding personal disciples of the Tongtian Cult Master, her power enough to sweep all Twelve Golden Immortals by herself back in the day! Even within the Jie Cult, she was one of the top existences, so he usually gave her a wide berth...
Moreover, the Wudang Saintess hadn’t been affected by the Divine Enthronement War over the years, having assumed the name Saintess of Mount Li and devoted herself to arduous cultivation for countless ages, her strength becoming even more terrifyingly profound! How could he dare to block her?
Regrettably, Dingguang Huanxi Buddha hadn’t gone far before he felt his whole body bound by something, and before he could even cry out, there was a thunderous boom, and everything went dark—he knew no more!
What the onlookers saw, however, was the enormous phantom figure of the Wudang Saintess, grasping Dingguang Huanxi Buddha in one hand and, with a casual squeeze, the Buddha simply vanished into nothingness!
"Wudang Saintess, stop your violence!" Wenshu Bodhisattva shouted loudly, throwing something from his hand.
This object transformed into a huge wooden stake in midair, with three golden rings on top and a golden lotus lifting it from below in the void, trapping the Wudang Saintess upon it!
Wenshu Bodhisattva drew the Sword of Wisdom and yelled, "Die!"
Wudang Saintess laughed heartily, "After so many years, you’re still resorting to such petty tricks. Truly laughable!"
As she spoke, Wudang Saintess shook her body, and with a thunderous noise, the Escaping Dragon Stake exploded into pieces!
Wenshu Bodhisattva saw this and broke out in a cold sweat from fright!
The Escaping Dragon Stake was a nature spirit treasure, said to be capable of binding anyone below a Saint. And it couldn’t restrain Wudang Saintess? How fearsome was her power?
Without giving Wenshu Bodhisattva time to think, Wudang Saintess flung a circular flying knife from her sleeve, the humming noise it made causing listeners’ hearts to grow restless and uneasy.
Wenshu Bodhisattva hurriedly chanted sutras to stabilize his mind and soul, but in that moment of distraction, a white streak tore across the sky, and when Wenshu Bodhisattva opened his eyes again, all he could see was his feet...
"Wudang Saintess, behold the magic treasure!" Puxian Bodhisattva, too, was startled by the sight of the Wudang Saintess shattering the Escaping Dragon Stake. He could not have imagined she was so ferocious. And in the moment he was stunned, Wenshu Bodhisattva had already been beheaded.
Puxian Bodhisattva didn’t dare hesitate, quickly stepping in to intervene. Standing on three golden lotuses and wielding the Wu hook swords, he brought them down fiercely upon her head.
Juliu Buddha took the opportunity to release the Immortal-binding Rope, binding Wudang Saintess in midair as she turned around.
Seizing the opportunity, Puxian Bodhisattva’s twin swords swooped down toward Wudang Saintess’s neck!
Wudang Saintess, upon seeing this, neither startled nor angry, merely stood her ground with a cold sneer.
Puxian Bodhisattva exclaimed with rage, "Today I shall behead you here, to fulfill the past slaying tribulation!"
Clang!
With a crisp ring, Puxian Bodhisattva looked incredulously at the twin swords in his hand, then at the two white marks on the Wudang Saintess’s flawless neck, and he couldn’t help but cry out in disbelief, "How is this possible?!"
PS: Rabbit is getting closer to the ending. Typically, an old book would wrap up within two to three months, and then Huang Liang would start a new one. The same applies here. Rabbit is expected to conclude around June, as all stories will have been told. There will be no abandonment or poor conclusion. Having written for so many years, I’ve never left a story unfinished or unsatisfactorily concluded.
PS: The new book is ready to be updated today and will begin at noon. For friends who like Huang Liang’s style, feel free to continue reading. The new book is an urban cultivation fantasy. It’s not only humorous, but I’ve also infused it with my thoughts on current social issues. The intended title was taken, which was frustrating, so I had to switch to another and will announce it later. I can’t change the Chapter names for now, so let’s leave them as they are.
