Chapter 57: Chapter 56: Someone’s Coveting My Body?

When Li Yuan saw Bai Weixi seemingly crying, his brows furrowed. He was starting to lose track of this green tea’s tactics.

Could it be that a green tea isn’t born that way but evolves over time? he thought.

The current Bai Weixi, if you could even call her a green tea, sometimes acted deeply infatuated. Just like now, with a sentimental expression he had never seen in his past life. In that life, including high school, he had been "with" Bai Weixi for over six years. He’d only ever seen her cry for him once, during the first semester of their freshman year when he sprained his ankle playing basketball. She had stayed with him at the hospital for three days. After that, never again.

But now that I’ve been reborn, the plot is unfolding differently. Has Bai Weixi actually become infatuated? Li Yuan was completely baffled; this wasn’t how a green tea operated. Logically, shouldn’t the script be more like, "If it’s over, it’s over. The next one will be an upgrade. Besides you, I have countless other options"? I was all geared up for the classic campus drama storyline where I’d get to put her in her place and drop the line: "Today you ignore me, tomorrow I’ll be out of your league." And now she’s pulling this on me? She’s abandoning the green tea playbook for the innocent first love routine?

Li Yuan truly couldn’t tell if his own game was too weak or if hers was just on another level. Was this a genuine display of emotion or a calculated performance?

He felt like breaking into a certain song lyric: "I, who should be playing along with your performance, will instead turn a blind eye..."

Forget it. It has nothing to do with me, whether it’s an act or her true feelings. Since I’ve been reborn, I refuse to be shackled by emotions. No one, and I mean no one, is going to stop me from embracing my destiny as a carefree playboy.

Li Yuan showed no reaction, just gave an imperceptible nod before turning to leave, vanishing from Bai Weixi’s blurry, tear-filled vision.

Bai Weixi watched, wide-eyed, as Li Yuan coldly walked away, feeling as if a part of her heart had shattered. She had waited for so long, only to be met with such a cold response from him?

"Why? Why are you treating me like this?" Bai Weixi murmured to herself. She sat dazed in her seat, the surprise and anticipation in her eyes completely extinguished, leaving her listless and unfocused.

Zhou Lisha hurried to comfort her, handing her a bottle of water. "Weixi, please don’t cry. A scumbag like that isn’t worth it."

Deng Meiqi was also fuming. "Weixi," she muttered, "after the class meeting, we’ll go with you to confront that scumbag."

Bai Weixi said nothing, simply burying her head in her arms on the desk, her body shaking with soft sobs.

"Yuan, what were you looking at in classroom 408 just now? Spot a beauty?" Liu Jia asked curiously.

Li Yuan couldn’t be bothered with him. On the surface, Liu Jia looked like a simple, goofy guy, but inside he was quite the lecher—a flirty chatterbox. It seemed as though Liu Jia was trying to make up for all the words he’d held back during three years of grueling high school study. Yet, when he was actually alone with a girl, he became incredibly shy.

Could Liu Jia have the makings of a scumbag, too?

Feeling irritated himself, Li Yuan snorted coldly. "Cut the crap. Curiosity killed the cat. You’ve heard that story, right?"

Liu Jia immediately shivered. Over the past two days, he had challenged Li Yuan to one-on-one basketball and been utterly demolished.

Li Yuan’s body was already strong, but since his rebirth, his strength, awareness, and agility had all improved significantly. A beanpole like Liu Jia was no match for him at all; a single physical confrontation—a post-up, a drive past his back—was enough to send him flying several meters. Over the past three days, Li Yuan had often dominated the court, playing against Liu Jia and the other guys and leaving them crushed and demoralized.

In classroom 403, most students from Computer Science Class One had already arrived. In a corner, two girls were whispering.

"Yanni, the quality of guys in our class isn’t that great. They’re all a bunch of duds, with only a few decent ones. They’re nowhere near the quality of the guys from Class Two," Wang Jierong said quietly to her roommate, her eyes scanning each boy who walked in.

Fang Yanni whispered back, "There are some good ones, though. I heard one of the boys’ dorms in our class has a few high-quality guys."

"Which dorm? How come I don’t know?" Wang Jierong asked excitedly.

"I think it’s D-3223 in Lan Yuan. You remember Zhou Tianyu, the guy who came to our dorm last night with the notice, right?"

Wang Jierong nodded, a strange glint in her eyes. "Of course. He’s handsome enough to meet my standards. It’s just that he’s not very tall, so it’s not very impressive to be seen with him. I prefer the tall, built athletic types."

Fang Yanni giggled. "Zhou Tianyu is still pretty good. I heard he’s a rich second-generation heir. His family is in business in Su Province."

"That explains it," Wang Jierong said, her eyes twinkling. "His clothes last night were all designer brands, and he was very polite. A total gentle, warm-hearted guy. Yanni, besides Zhou Tianyu, who else in that dorm is decent?"

Just as Fang Yanni was about to answer, she heard a few girls in the class let out soft gasps. She looked up and saw Zhou Tianyu, Liu Jia, and Li Yuan walking into the classroom one after another.

"Jierong, quick, look! That tall one in the Nike tracksuit, that’s the other guy I was talking about."

Wang Jierong’s gaze shifted to Li Yuan. Although he dressed simply, he looked clean and sharp. He was tall with a broad frame. Since he played basketball every day, he had a muscular physique that perfectly filled out his sportswear like a mannequin. His face, too, radiated extreme self-confidence.

"What’s his name? He doesn’t have that pretty-boy look like Zhou Tianyu, but he has more of an athletic vibe. You can tell he’s strong," Wang Jierong said, licking her lips, her eyes sultry. "He’s exactly my type."

"I think he’s Li Yuan. I heard his family is pretty rich, too. He has an Apple laptop worth over ten thousand yuan, the newest Nokia N95 phone, and his shoes cost one or two thousand..." Fang Yanni whispered. It was something she’d happened to overhear. Most women enjoy a bit of gossip, after all.

Wang Jierong’s interest was piqued. "From what you’re saying, this Li Yuan sounds pretty great. I love tall guys with good physiques. I really want that adorable height difference, you know, so he can hold me and we can... do *that*..."

Fang Yanni gave her roommate a skeptical look. "Jierong, I feel like you’re making an innuendo."

Wang Jierong replied with a straight face, "Yanni, you’re too naive. Once you get a boyfriend, you’ll understand. A guy’s physique is really important. It affects a woman’s happiness for her entire life."

"Pfft! Jierong, have you no shame?" Fang Yanni blushed furiously. She had never even dated.

"What’s there to be ashamed of? Look at what year it is. It’s 2008! Back home, it’s rare for a girl to get through high school without dating..." Wang Jierong’s eyes were fixed on Li Yuan as he found a seat, and a new idea bloomed in her mind. "Yanni, do you think I should give Li Yuan a chance to pursue me?"

Fang Yanni looked astonished, amazed at Wang Jierong’s logic. When did he ever say he wanted to pursue you?

Still, Wang Jierong was undeniably attractive. Though she was only 1.6 meters tall, she had an ample figure for her slight weight. Her eyes, which seemed to spark with electricity, were incredibly captivating. She was also skilled with makeup and dressed in a bold, sexy style that gave her a special allure. Walking to class today, she had turned heads everywhere she went. Based on looks and figure alone, Wang Jierong easily ranked in the top three among the girls in Computer Science Class One.

"Well, that’s up to you," Fang Yanni said. "But Jierong, what about your high school boyfriend?"

Wang Jierong replied languidly, "What about him? Dump him, of course. He bombed the college entrance exam and ended up in some trashy Tier 2 college. I’m at a 985 university; I naturally deserve better."

"But what about your relationship? The feelings you had?" Fang Yanni was starting to feel speechless.

Wang Jierong answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Feelings? What are they worth? I’m constantly improving myself. And him? All he knows is how to play video games. He has no ambition whatsoever."

Fang Yanni asked, puzzled, "Then why did you date him in the first place?"

"He was tall, handsome, and had a great body. Plus, back in high school, he was willing to spend money on me..."
