What happened in KFC had instantly vaporized any good feelings she had for Li Yuan, leaving her more disillusioned than ever with the idea of love.

He added, "Fine, let’s make it a freebie. You can kiss me back, and we’ll call it even."

Bai Weixi stared at him, bewildered. "When did I try to kill myself?"

Before she could finish, she heard his last comment and her anger flared. "Shameless! Bastard! Pervert! Put me down!"

Li Yuan ignored her, his heart still pounding with lingering fear.

「Ten seconds earlier.」

He had been following Bai Weixi when he suddenly saw her walk straight toward the busy, traffic-filled road.

Terrified, he had sprinted forward at seventy miles per hour and snatched her up in his arms. Just as he did, a car sped past the spot where she had been standing. If it weren’t for his quick reflexes and agility, this beautiful eighteen-year-old girl, in the prime of her youth, would have likely been killed.

How could he not be terrified?

Even though the Bai Weixi from his past life had cheated on him and strung other guys along, she didn’t deserve to die. Besides, he’d only just collected a little interest. He still hadn’t taken her virginity yet.

Li Yuan grimaced, the bite genuinely hurting. "Alright, alright. I’ll put you down. Just stop freaking out," he said. "There are so many cars. It’s dangerous!"

A flicker of emotion stirred in Bai Weixi’s heart. He’s still worried about me even after I bit him like that.

She immediately crushed the thought. This is all his fault. If he hadn’t forced himself on me, I wouldn’t have bitten him.

Bai Weixi took a deep breath, trying her best to calm down. "Li Yuan, put me down. I can walk by myself."

Li Yuan gently set her on her feet.
