Chapter 758: Chapter 757: Because I Love You, I am Overbearing (3)_1

"Noah Reyes, let me go or I’ll start screaming for help!" Adele Horne grew inexplicably flustered, but she forced herself to remain calm as she warned Noah.

"Your sister-in-law let me in."

Noah’s voice was deep and hoarse as he spoke.

Julia wasn’t easy to deal with either, but she had, indirectly and perhaps unwillingly, helped him by sometimes fueling him, other times dousing him. He was grateful to her and guessed that of all the people in the Horne Family, she was probably the only one who believed his target was Adele.

"My sister-in-law would never betray me. Don’t you slander her. Let me go this instant! Help! Help!"

"Help! Help!"

Adele strained her voice, desperately shouting.

Noah watched as she tried hard to scream for help, a trace of mockery in his eyes.

The door was locked. Even if someone heard her cries, how could they get in? And at this moment, who would dare to come in? He guaranteed he would throw anyone who dared to enter out the window!

After shouting for a while, Adele felt tired and stopped calling for help.

Outside, apart from the sound of the raging rain, there was no other noise.

Adele felt disappointment. Were everyone’s ears deaf? She had shouted for so long, her throat was dry, and yet no one came to her aid. Could it really be that they were reluctant to act because they had accepted favors from him?

All the food that Noah had sent her, she had shared with everyone.

Suddenly, her head felt dizzy.

Her body was forcefully turned around, and in a few moments, Noah had forced her to sit back down at her workstation. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Sit down."

Noah commanded in a low and gruff voice.

Stung by anger, Adele stood up and retorted sharply, "Why should I listen to you?" She was told to sit, so she’d stand; what could he do to her?

Dark eyes locked onto hers, a look that, forgive Adele’s limited vocabulary, she couldn’t find an adjective to describe.

After a pause, Noah turned around.

Instinctively, Adele’s gaze followed his figure. Was he leaving so soon?

A sense of loss she didn’t want to admit crept into her heart.

When she first met Noah and learned that he was the man who took her innocence, she actually felt a touch of relief because he wasn’t a monster or a fat man with a big belly, but a handsome man like a god. His impulsive embrace, his domineering desire to take her away—these things made her analyze in her midnight reveries: could his feelings for her be love as he claimed?

His explanations also made her feel genuine sympathy for him.

Even though she was full of resentment toward him, why did she still feel pity for him?

In private, she had secretly asked her sister-in-law about Noah, and through her brother, she found out Noah’s words were true.

His disappearance back then was actually to protect her!

Thinking of that, she felt her hatred wasn’t as deep anymore.

But forgiving him on the spot, even progressing to lovers or husband and wife, that was too much for her to accept in a short period. The grievances she had suffered over the years couldn’t just dissipate easily.

Noah poured a cup of warm water for Adele and, under her astonished gaze, brought it to her lips while saying lightly, "You’ve been shouting for a long time, have some water to moisten your throat."

Adele’s eyes widened in shock as she glared at him.

He... He was infuriating!

Snatching the cup of warm water, Adele splashed it forcefully onto Noah’s face.

Noah didn’t dodge or flinch.

Adele was momentarily stunned, then burst out scolding, "Aren’t you supposed to be adept? Why didn’t you dodge?"

Water droplets slid down Noah’s face to the floor, his clothes also getting somewhat wet, including the hair on his forehead. He remained silent, maintaining his posture as he looked at Adele.

Being stared at with such eyes made Adele feel somewhat guilty.

Even though she had often bullied people in the past, she always felt guilty afterward. She wasn’t naturally wicked; she only misbehaved because she yearned for genuine care she never received.

The two of them watched each other.

RING RING... The intrusive ringtone of her phone broke the silence.

It was Adele’s phone ringing.

Gio Coleman was calling.

Adele pushed Noah away, grabbed her phone, and answered the call.
