Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 641 Rachel Gives Birth to a Daughter (1)_1
Valence Group.
In the CEO’s Office, Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz sat on the sofa, each holding a glass of wine, leisurely sipping and discussing matters.
"Glades, what important matter required me to come back to the company today?" After taking a sip of wine, Hansen started to fiddle with his glass.
He glanced at Glades Horne across from him, smiling gently.
At thirty-six, he had become even more gentle and maturely composed.
But he didn’t look old. Judging by his appearance alone, he looked about the same age as Rachel, showing no signs of being thirty-six.
"Silvia Baxter is highly suspicious. A year ago, when my Julia was kidnapped, the incident at the subsidiary six months ago, and the recent issues with James—I’ve had this intuition that Silvia Baxter has been the one behind these troubles. My people have checked all her records. Her time studying abroad is nearly a blank, with just a few sparse lines stating she has a preference for women and enjoys pursuing them; that’s all. Her domestic records are detailed, yet reveal no clues."
Glades Horne spoke with a cool detachment.
"The Baxter Family has collaborated with the Horne Family for many years now; Silvia Baxter is a young lady of the Baxter Family. If she’s the one behind this, what’s her motivation?"
Hansen Ruiz slightly raised his eyebrows.
He thought that someone else might be targeting Valence Group.
"That’s my question as well. I still trust Mr. Baxter. I suspect that during Silvia Baxter’s study abroad, it’s very possible she joined some organization, like the Flame Gate."
Glades Horne’s sharp, deep eyes twinkled as he spoke in a low tone.
The Flame Gate?
Hansen Ruiz stopped toying with his glass, lifting his eyes to lock onto Glades Horne’s, who was also looking back at him.
Thinking thoroughly, Hansen Ruiz linked all the events together, and his expression grew serious. "If your speculation is correct, then it’s the Flame Gate targeting Valence? Recently in our city, whether in the City District or the suburbs, many small companies have sprung up, and there seems to be a large group called Black Emperor Group secretly building its foundation. Black Emperor Group? Noah Reyes?"
The two faces instantly leaned closer, their equally sharp gazes clashing, two astute minds whirring in unison, as an exclamation slipped from both mouths, "Noah Reyes!"
Glades Horne’s expression became more serious, yet he leaned back into the sofa, the wine in his glass sloshing with his movement. He brought the glass to his lips and took a deep drink.
Hansen Ruiz put aside his earlier pensiveness, and his face once again displayed his usual warm smile, his eyes taking on an interesting, profound look. He downed the wine in his glass, then picked up the bottle from the coffee table, refilled his glass, and then looked at Glades Horne to ask, "What do you plan to do?"
"For now, the enemy is in the dark while I am in the light. If the enemy does not move, I will not move; I’ll just watch for changes. Hansen, find businesses that can replace the Baxter Family’s position in the Valence Group and secretly discuss partnerships without letting the Baxter Family know. Regardless of what Silvia Baxter’s actual motives are, the mere fact she intended to target my Julia means we cannot let our guard down. There is a very high possibility that in the future, the Baxter Family and Valence will end their partnership. We must prepare in advance so that the end of the partnership won’t affect Valence," Glades Horne instructed coolly.
If the Baxter Family became irrelevant to the Valence Group, no matter what Silvia Baxter plotted, it would no longer affect Valence.
"Okay, I’ll take care of it."
Hansen Ruiz agreed with his idea.
"We still have to pretend that we know nothing. I will have James continue to investigate the kidnapping incident from a year ago, without alerting the other party for now. Let them think we’re still in the dark. We’ll bait them into making the first move so that we can catch them and trace it all the way to the top, unveiling their true identity."
Whether it was Noah Reyes or not, they couldn’t be certain; it was just a subconscious suspicion directed toward him.
Only when the truth came out would they know who had been persistently targeting Valence Group and opposing them.
Noah Reyes indeed held substantial power, but he rarely came to Syrena, and the Flame Gate had hardly any influence in Syrena either. Logically, Noah Reyes wouldn’t extend his reach to T City. If Noah Reyes wanted to expand in the business world, there were so many developed cities in Syrena; why would he choose T City? Thus, Noah Reyes was just an enemy they subconsciously speculated about.
The suspicion that Noah Reyes was the enemy also stemmed from his unusual identity, coupled with the fact that the man who had taken Adele Horne’s innocence had the surname Black.
Hansen Ruiz nodded.
Regardless of whether it was Noah Reyes or not, preemptively considering him an enemy was also a precaution. Of course, they wouldn’t be careless about other potential enemies lurking in the shadows either.
The Valence Group was so vast that it was a target for trouble, attracting enemies they had never provoked but who aggressively came after them. As leaders of the Valence Group, both Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz had to be meticulously cautious; they could not afford to overlook even the smallest matter. Despite appearing nonchalant about Valence, rarely visiting the company, they were, in fact, the most attentive. Otherwise, Valence Group wouldn’t be as strong as it is today.
"Your wife is about to give birth soon, right?"
Glades Horne suddenly shifted to personal matters.
When family was mentioned, Glades Horne’s expression softened gradually, like snow meeting the spring sun, melting into gentle ripples—evidently, he was riding high in both his career and his blissful family life.
"The due date is next month."
When Rachel Bailey was mentioned, Hansen Ruiz’s expression mirrored Glades Horne’s.
"Have you made all the preparations?" Glades Horne asked, his question clearly referring to Hansen’s readiness for fatherhood.
"I’ve arranged for several top-notch nannies responsible for taking care of the baby, and a few others to look after Rachel," Hansen Ruiz said, sipping his wine with a light smile.
He had plenty of money—enough to ensure that Rachel could have a comfortable confinement period.
"The Empress Dowager at your place hasn’t been stirring up any more trouble, has she?"
Glades Horne mostly heard about the Empress Dowager not liking Rachel Bailey from his wife.
Julia was a good person, but she was still a woman, and women, by nature, love to gossip. Glades didn’t scold her for the occasional gossip; he let her vent. Besides, Rachel Bailey was Julia’s friend, and sometimes Julia’s venting was out of indignation for Rachel. If he hadn’t spoken to her about it once, telling her not to meddle, he genuinely feared she might end up clashing with Hansen’s ’Empress Dowager’.
