Chapter 790 -326: Class Reunion Tomorrow, Will Zhou Yuwen Attend?
Liu Shuo waited outside in his car for Peng Xiaoyong and the others for a while. Only when Zhou Yuwen called did he find out they had taken a cab and left first.
In the car, Liu Shuo couldn’t help but grumble a few words about Peng Xiaoyong, saying he’s useless, but sure knows how to act cool.
“Serves him right for getting beat up.”
Zhou Yuwen asked, “What are you babbling about in front of the kid?”
The “kid” Zhou Yuwen was referring to was Liu Yilin, sitting in the back seat.
At the moment, Liu Yilin clearly had something on her mind. Unease was written all over her face, especially after that yellow-haired girl Zhao Rui made it clear that this wasn’t the end of the matter.
Tomorrow, Liu Yilin still had to go to school for classes. Who knows what Zhao Rui had in store for her?
Zhou Yuwen asked if she was scared.
Liu Yilin shook her head but didn’t say anything. She didn’t appear scared, but her face was indeed full of worry.
While driving, Liu Shuo said, “Hey! Yilin, don’t be afraid. With me and my brother here, no one will dare bully you. Damn it, are they trying to turn the world upside down, daring to mess with Brother Zhou’s cousin? If this were Xianlin, I’d wipe her out.”
“So you can’t wipe her out outside Xianlin?” Zhou Yuwen asked.
“Of course not, brother. Xu Huai is our hometown—how could I not handle it? The problem is, we don’t even know where that fatty is from, and Yilin doesn’t know her name.”
Zhou Yuwen said, “Isn’t there still that one named Zhao Rui?”
“Let me ask around.”
“Alright, go ahead and ask.”
By then, it was almost 6 PM. Yilin was a quiet, reserved girl, so it was hard to gauge her emotions. Zhou Yuwen asked her if she was hungry.
“I’ll take you to grab a bite to eat.”
“No need, brother. It’s getting dark. I still need to go home and review,” Liu Yilin said obediently.
Zhou Yuwen replied, “It’s almost the New Year—relax a little. I’ll take you to eat something.”
Liu Yilin wanted to say something else, but Zhou Yuwen cut her off, saying, “I’ll let Fourth Aunt know when we get back.”
“Exactly, Yilin, spend some time with your Cousin-in-law, alright?” Su Qing chimed in smoothly, placing her hand on Liu Yilin’s shoulder.
After thinking for a moment, Liu Yilin finally nodded.
The group found a shopping mall and went inside to grab something to eat.
While eating, Zhou Yuwen asked Liu Shuo to gather information about the fatty, but since they didn’t even know the fatty’s name, it was naturally not an easy task. As for Zhao Rui, she was just a typical “bad girl.”
Back in high school, Liu Shuo definitely dabbled in mischief, but those he hung out with either went on to study or moved elsewhere for work. No one stays mixed up in trouble forever.
Left with no choice, Liu Shuo started asking in his Xu Huai Association group chat if anyone knew someone named Zhao Rui.
The responses were chaotic—some said she was a girlfriend, others said an ex, some said a younger sister.
All sorts of different answers came up.
The gap between their social circles was enormous, making it impossible to get reliable information.
On the other side, Su Qing was comforting Liu Yilin while leading her through the menu.
To be honest, this little cousin was quite pitiful.
Her father, Fourth Uncle, had worked for the Tobacco Bureau. During his younger years, he was considered one of the brightest minds. Unfortunately, his overly aloof nature made him a victim of political struggles. Later, he was reassigned to a small shop under the bureau. It was still technically a government job, but there was no money to be made, and it operated on a self-sustaining basis.
His faltering career path meant that he carried little weight within the family, which in turn left his daughter a bit timid and withdrawn.
During dinner, she wouldn’t even dare order anything too expensive, fearing it might make her cousin feel that she was being rude.
Thankfully, Su Qing ordered a bunch of her favorite foods and reassured her with a smile.
“Don’t worry, your Cousin has money. From now on, with your Cousin protecting you, you’ll be fine. Once you graduate, come to Jinling and visit us, alright?” Su Qing said warmly, blinking at her.
Liu Yilin nodded hesitantly. She felt that her Cousin had chosen a really kind and gentle wife—definitely better than his foreign girlfriend.
When Liu Shuo and Zhou Yuwen went to the restroom, Liu Yilin whispered to Su Qing that she thought Su Qing was prettier than Lu Wanting.
Su Qing, upon hearing this, chuckled softly and explained, “Your cousin’s girlfriend and I just have different styles. You can’t say I’m prettier than her.”
“But, Su Qing Jie, I think my Cousin Yuwen looks way more handsome than Cousin Xiaoyong,” Liu Yilin said shyly, her face flushing.
Su Qing decided to tease Liu Yilin a little and asked, “So, do you like your Cousin Yuwen?”
“No, no, I don’t!” Liu Yilin quickly shook her head, her cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red. How could Su Qing Jie ask such a thing? She and her Cousin were relatives; wouldn’t that be inappropriate?
Seeing her reaction, Su Qing jokingly pretended to be upset and said, “Oh, so you don’t even like your Cousin Yuwen as family?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant!” Liu Yilin waved her hands frantically in denial.
Su Qing pressed, “So you do like your Cousin Yuwen?”
“I… like… I think he’s really handsome—especially the way he protected me just now,” Liu Yilin admitted shyly, her face still glowing red.
Su Qing laughed again and added, “I like your Cousin Yuwen too.”
Meanwhile, Liu Shuo had asked around in the group chat but hadn’t found anything useful. He told Zhou Yuwen, “Brother, I’ll ask when we meet tomorrow. Some of my brothers used to hang around here; they might know who the fatty is.”
“Let’s leave it at that for now,” Zhou Yuwen replied.
“Alright. Brother, will you be coming tomorrow?”
“Probably not. Isn’t tomorrow just a classmate gathering?” Zhou Yuwen said.
“Huh?” Liu Shuo froze.
“What classmate gathering?”
“Luo Jialiang mentioned it. Why, you didn’t hear from him?” Zhou Yuwen asked curiously.
“What the hell?!”
