Chapter 66: The Void Affinity’s Reward

Ding!

[Your Shadow, Chaos, and Void affinities are in conflict.]

[You may now choose one of the following:]

[1. Receive a normal skill immediately, then another after your advancement task – (Shadow Affinity).]

[2. Receive a powerful ability after completing your advancement task at Level 10 – (Chaos Affinity).]

[3. Receive no skill, but instead gain +10 permanent attribute points in Strength, Agility, and Constitution, and +20 in Soul – (Void Affinity).]

---

"...!"

Sam’s eyes widened, and a smirk tugged at his lips. ’As expected.’

The moment he unlocked [Chaos] before, he had understood what it was but couldn’t confirm it.

But now that he had three affinities, Shadow, Chaos, and Void, reaching Adept Rank clarified something crucial.

Each affinity had its own milestone system.

And each one rewarded him differently once that milestone was reached.

It wasn’t just some basic system spitting out random powers. No, each path was unique. Tailored.

And this time... Void’s offer was entirely different from the other two.

’+10 Strength, Agility, and Constitution. And +20 Soul...’

It was the kind of reward most awakeners would kill for.

Sure, a powerful new skill from the Shadow affinity, especially one that could reach Forsaken Rank, was valuable. Extremely so.

And his [Forsaken Clone] from the Chaos affinity had proved that.

But future stats? That was something else entirely. It meant power in its rawest, most direct form.

Ten points in Strength, Agility, and Constitution each.

That was the same as gaining ten whole levels.

Normally, Sam only got one point in each per level, and two in Soul. This shortcut would push him miles ahead.

He quickly checked his current stats.

---

[Rank: Adept]

[Level: 1 → 5]

[Strength: 23 → 27]

[Agility: 22 → 26]

[Constitution: 23 → 27]

[Soul: 44 → 52]

---

The boost was already helping him, but if he took this Void option...

He’d be a walking powerhouse.

Without hesitating further, Sam locked in his decision: Void Affinity.

The screen disappeared instantly.

Ding!

[The Void gazes upon you. It acknowledges your decision. You will not be disappointed.]

A silver aura surged around Sam’s body like smoke, then seeped into his skin, vanishing completely.

Immediately, he felt the change.

His muscles tightened. His limbs felt lighter, yet stronger. A wave of power surged into his soul like a silent flame, hot, heavy, and endless.

Ding!

[You have gained +10 Strength, Agility, and Constitution.]

[You have gained +20 Soul.]

He exhaled slowly, then turned to collect the loot from the [Canyon Ogres], tossing everything into his [Spatial Inventory] without bothering to inspect it.

After all, he had done all the work, landing every kill. It was only fair he got all the experience and items.

And then, like always, he moved forward.

The rest followed him, silent.

"GRROOOOOAAARRRRR~!"

A sudden, thunderous roar split the air again, far louder than the last.

[The "Roaring Titan" senses your presence.]

Sam paused mid-step, a small drop of sweat forming on his temple.

’So he’s the Forsaken Lord of this layer... makes sense.’

The force of the roar was so overwhelming even Sam’s body tensed. The ground vibrated. The air rippled.

And then came the monsters.

Each time that roar echoed, a new horde charged toward them.

Their eyes were glowing with the same unnatural violet hue.

Not one monster looked at the group, every single one of them was focused solely on Sam.

The others began to notice too.

As Sam battled a [Rock Golem] boss ahead of the group, a sudden rush of footsteps echoed behind him.

"Wolves!" someone shouted.

A pack of [Canyon Wolves] emerged from behind, fast and brutal, charging at the group’s rear.

"Get ready!" Alex shouted. "That kid’s been carrying us so far, but now it’s our turn!"

Oscar Windshield stepped forward, his fire magic building in a swirling vortex.

He prepared to cast a wide [Fireball], ready to burn the monsters before they closed the gap.

But the wolves ignored everyone.

They dodged right past the awakeners, darting between formations, slipping through barriers.

Every single one went straight for Sam.

"What the hell?" freewebnøvel.coɱ

"They just ignored us..."

Even the veterans were stunned. Some felt relieved.

Others, like Oscar, were furious.

’THESE BASTARDS!’ Oscar roared inwardly, flames erupting from his body. ’THEY THINK I’M NOT EVEN A THREAT?!’

But before any of them could react further, Sam swung his [Primordial Sword] once.

Slash!

All the wolves were cut down instantly.

Their bodies collapsed in a heap. Not one survived.

With his new stat boost, Sam was faster, stronger, more efficient, and his ability to control his "Soul" had improved dramatically.

He stood tall, barely even breathing hard.

"So you’re just going to keep throwing pawns at me, huh?" Sam muttered, eyes glowing. "Keep them coming, Titan. You’ll die just like the rest."

As if provoked, the sky trembled again.

"GRRAOOOOOWWRRR~!"

A second roar. Then a third.

[The feeling of DOOM you had has intensified. The "Roaring Titan" is enraged.]

BOOM!

Shockwaves exploded outward across the entire layer, shaking the cliffs, sending debris tumbling down, and making even the most hardened awakeners stumble.

"The other groups already left," Alex called out from behind, his tone urgent. "But we’re almost through. Stay together!"

[Hell-Mode Analysis: Why is he talking like he did anything?]

Sam ignored the commentary and continued walking forward, slaughtering everything that came his way.

Golems, Roaring Spiders, Shadow Beetles, none stood a chance.

They came in waves, but fell just as fast.

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for reaching Level 6 of the Adept Rank!]

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for reaching Level 7 of the Adept Rank!]

He pressed forward.

Until finally...

[The end is near. The "Roaring Titan" is waiting.]

Sam stopped. The pressure grew thick in the air, like an invisible weight pressing down on their shoulders.

He raised his hand.

Forsaken Clone!

A ripple of black energy tore through the air, and a second figure emerged next to him.

It shared his size, shape, even the aura, but its energy was darker, more violent.

Its crimson eyes locked onto Sam. Then turned to the others behind him.

The clone tensed, prepared to fight them.

"No," Sam said calmly. "We kill monsters. That’s it."

The clone paused, then nodded, standing beside him like a silent executioner.

"That’s a clone?" someone muttered behind. "So he’s still been holding back..."

They marched onward.

The cliffs opened into a massive plateau. Circular. Surrounded by towering walls of stone, with the moon and sky perfectly aligned above.

A gate stood at the far end. The exit.

"We’re here!" Alex called out. "This is it! We made it!"

"Third Expedition, baby! Let’s go!"

Cheering erupted. But Sam wasn’t cheering.

He looked at his clone.

Its glowing eyes burned brighter than before, as if asking: "Can I kill them now?"

Sam chuckled and shook his head. "Let them be. I gained more than enough already."

They both stepped forward, nearing the center of the plateau—

And then...

"GRROOOOOAAARRRR!"

This roar wasn’t from above. It came from below.

CRACK!

The ground beneath them shattered.

Sam and his clone leapt back just as a massive section of the plateau collapsed inward.

Stone fell into a growing pit, and from that pit...

FWISH! BOOM!

A towering figure erupted upward, wrapped in darkness.

Sam landed beside his clone, sword already drawn.

His eyes narrowed.

’So this is it...’

And then, the notification appeared.

---

[The Roaring Dragon (Mutated Boss)]

[Level: 40]

[Description: A powerful dragon that wields darkness. A monster that should not exist in this layer.]

[Hell-Mode Analysis: It’s the pet of the "Roaring Titan." Kill it.]

---

"A DRAGON?!"

"You’ve got to be kidding me—!"

Even Alex, who had tried to stay optimistic through everything, was silent now. His face drained of color.

"This... This doesn’t make sense," he said quietly. "Where’s the Golem? The boss should’ve been the [Roaring Golem]. What is this?"

Sam didn’t look back.

"You can throw whatever you want at me," he muttered, speaking directly to the sky, "but it won’t be enough."

The dragon slammed into the ground ahead of them, its violet eyes burning with unnatural fury.

Its wings stretched out wide, and its entire body was covered in black, reflective scales.

A poisonous mist leaked from its mouth, and veins pulsed along its limbs.

It was stronger than anything they had faced so far.

And it was looking only at Sam.

But Sam... was smiling. He and his clone stepped forward.
