President Qin's Little Wife Is The Strongest-Chapter 153: [Bonus chapter]
While the competition was going on, Feng Ya was on the media and was trying to let all her friends know that she was also part of the team representing the country.
However, the reaction was not only low because we're watching the competition itself, a lot of people on the internet even asked her to show them Rong Yue making her almost lose her composure.
After trying for a few more minutes, she placed her phone away and turned to the ambassadors.
"Who's winning now?" She had been absent minded the whole time and didn't even know how the major competition was going.
She was someone that would naturally not care about something as long as it didn't involve her. Now that she had kept her phone away, she showed some slight interest in what was happening around her.
But it was the wrong question to ask and even the ambassador gave her a look of dissatisfaction before looking away.
She walked away, and then focused on the large screen that was outside, by that time, Rong Yue had already finished acquiring all her points and wasn't reacting to most of the questions. But Feng Ya that hadn't been following the whole time thought that Rong Yue didn't know the questions.
She ignorantly picked her phone and typed a message degrading the country's representative on her media by claiming that the representative was even worse than she who had been disqualified in the first section.
"Did our country's representative get some cheat for the first section?? How can she pass the first section with this type of slow brain??"
Instead of stopping, she went on again and recorded a snippet of Rong Yue sitting down and answering nothing with her phone from the large screen.
Although the recording was a little blurry, anyone that watched it would still see what was in the video.
Satisfied with her recording, she typed a caption before posting it.
"The first section was so hard and even me, a top student dropped out from it. However, this girl had qualified and went on to represent our country. But from what I see, she had definitely gotten this through an illegal means after all, her participation here has been horrible."
"It would have been better if we didn't qualify, but to have a representative embarrass the whole country in front of an international audience, that is even worse!!!"
After making the post, she read through one more time and sent it for the whole world to see.
Satisfied with what she had done, the deep jealousy that she felt towards Rong Yue was finally satisfied and she kept her phone away.
Meanwhile, in the competition room, they had arrived at the last question. By this time, from the scoreboard, everyone could see their positions.
But two countries had a tie and the two sides were already taut with tension to see if one person could pull the other one down.
However, the moment the last question was displayed, both parties withdrew their hands from the buzzer and looked away.
For some of them that knew a little more, they had seen the question before and knew that it was an impossible question.
After a few minutes of the question being displayed and hearing no one answer it, Rong Yue finally looked at the question display screen.
She took a few moments to do the working in her head and then pressed the buzzer. Not just the other participants, even the judges sat up with more seriousness as they heard the buzzer.
"Contestant Rong Yue, are you sure you can answer this question? Giving the wrong answer would have a point deduction from your original score." One of the judges spoke into the microphone out of worry that she would spoil her good record.
The question had just been solved by some of the professors and it was a tightly kept away answer.
However, they had decided to add it to the competition because they wanted the young talents to want to work harder when they saw a question that none of them could attempt.
Even the judges didn't know the answer to it. This meant that even if Rong Yue answered it, they would have to call the higher level bosses to ask if the answer she had supplied was correct.
"I'm positive." Rong Yue replied right after.
The woman then nodded, giving her the permission to answer.
Rong Yue pressed the correct option on the keyboard in front of her. However, the display screen for the questions gave no reaction making everyone confused.
Some participants thought she had got it wrongly and some of them snickered at her failure.
One of judges stood up and cleared his throat to get their attention.
"The thing is, this question is on the list of the world impossible questions. It had only been recently solved and the answers has not been globally shared. For your answer we must contact…" before the man could finish talking, the door to the hall they were using burst open with a team of about three men and one woman rushing in.
The woman among them greeted everyone with a wave and then stopped in front of Rong Yue seat.
"Sorry about the interruption. But for the sake of fairness to all parties, we must request this participant to solve this last question on paper. If you are able to solve it correctly, we would then close this year's competition…." She paused, her gaze turning sharp as she looked in the direction of the camera.
"If you are unable to answer this, all of your points that you have gained earlier with that of your partner would be marked as invalid."
As soon as her words dropped, everyone outside and within the hall broke into an uproar.
After all, the consequences were a little too severe.
However, the person in discussion, Rong Yue, didn't have a change in her expression as she looked at the woman with narrowed eyes.
"A question like this can only be solved with two theorems. I'll solve using both. But, I also demand that I get some compensation for this consequences you have placed down."
"After all, it would be a little unfair that you can alter the terms and conditions for this competition but do not offer an alternative reward for me answering this super question." Rong Yue shrugged with her expression carefree.
It really made the people that were watching at home all feel a little better, just now, everyone had their hearts up from the heavy consequences that the woman had announced.
From the confident look on Rong Yue's face, the woman didn't also know what to say, but this was in front of the whole world and she couldn't be partial so she nodded her head.
"If you win, an appropriate reward would be given to a genius like you, certainly."
After hearing that, Rong Yue also nodded and sat down.
One of the men that had rushed in with the woman stepped forward and placed a blank sheet with a pen in front of her.
Rong Yue mumbled a thanks to me and got to work.
Not just the hall, even the people outside and the ones watching from home all had very similar reactions of holding their breath to see how things were going to turn out.
Rong Yue, who was supposed to be under all of the pressure however didn't act like it was so.
??????????????????????????
??????????????????????????
??????????????????????????
The woman made sure the hall became quiet and all the other participants all sat down and watched.
At this point, they didn't seem like competitors anymore and had become an audience for Rong Yue's shine.
Without requesting for a calculator, Rong Yue started writing out the solution to the question using the first theorem. It was also the simpler method of solving it.
While she was busy solving, the woman that had barged in with her team made several calls to some professors that could verify her answers.
Since it was not an easy question, she assumed that they would spend some hours here and sent two men in her team to get some refreshments for the other participants.
However, before the people that went to get refreshments could return, Rong Yue stood up and passed a sheet to her.
"You have given up?" The woman asked with a mocking sneer on her face. It was easy to see that she hadn't expected Rong Yue to answer the question.
"No, I'm handing over the solution using the first and easy theorem. I'll start the second solution now." She replied calmly.
Instead of waiting for the woman to react, she placed the sheet on the table in front of her and returned to her seat.
For those that knew Rong Yue, they would understand that her patience for the woman had grown thin and she was just restraining herself.
She started the solution for the second method, her hands moving at a hard to follow pace.
While she was still solving, two men, dressed in casuals walked into the hall. The both of them held their Identity cards up so that the viewers could see that they weren't just normal people.
The woman Rong Yue had submitted too from the top comittee walked up to them and greeted them respectfully.
She then handed over the paper to them before facing the audience.
"We apologize to all the countries and participants for the hitch in the competition process. However, we are doing all these to ensure that the process is a fair one." After she explained, she signaled towards the men that had just entered and one of them joined her on the stage.
"Hello, my name is James and I'm a professor of quantum physics. The last question that had been given in today's competition is an unsolved math problem. It had only been solved a week ago and the answer has not been revealed to the public…"
"If you are wondering why we kept a question like that there, it was only placed to make sure these students don't relent regardless of their performance. But today, one of the participants had actually selected the right answer."
Saying up until that point, a lot of the people that were confused before understood what was happening.
The participant Rong Yue was being suspected of cheating. After all, there had to be a limit to one's intelligence.
"If she's able to prove her answer, this would show that another genius has been born into this world and the American government promises to do everything to nurture her to the best of her abilities. However, if we find that she is unable to answer these questions, then it means that her previous performance also can't be trusted."
"My colleagues David and I are professors from the MIT university and we are also on the team that finally solved this question. If there's any problem with it, we are in the best position to judge."
After saying his piece, murmurs broke out in the hall and outside.
The ambassadors with Teacher Lu wanted to curse out in anger. If their country had participated in any form of cheating, at the very least, the two of them would know.
Also, what was the nonsense about doing their best to nurture her?? Couldn't they nurture their own people.
"Teacher Lu, would she still be able to handle it under all of these pressure?" One of them asked, a little worried for Rong Yue's mental health.
As if to answer them, the camera was moved back to Rong Yue and the screen showed that fast moving hand and bent head as she wrote on her sheet.
It was almost like she hadn't heard anything that the two people had said and was in another world of her own.
Some older people nodded in approval. Even if she was not able to prove herself right, her composure as a teenager was a lot impressive.
On the other hand, Feng Ya was having the fun of her life and she constantly said terrible things about Rong Yue on the internet.
"I already knew that there was something wrong with this our representative. To think that she had actually gotten questions ahead, isn't it better to not qualify than to give our country a bad name??"
However, although some of her friends agreed with her, not everyone saw things from her perspective and some people started slamming her.
Fighting evil: @fengya, don't you think that you have misplaced priorities? I just think that you are jealous she qualified and you didn't!
Justpassingby: @fightingevil, I agree with you, just now, she said that Rong Yue had been unable to answer anything meanwhile the girl had answered the most questions. Now that things have gone the other way, she has turned around to say something else.
Happysoul: I agree also.
So many people liked the two comments as it made a lot of sense, while some commended Rong Yue's composure even in the middle of all her enemies.
After about thirty minutes, Rong Yue finally stood up with her other paper and Wu Hao who had been watching her the whole time finally let out a sigh in relief.
Even from the time she had taken, Wu Hao could already imagine just how difficult the questions were, after all, even the hardest questions in their syllabus would barely take her one minute if she was alone with him.
"I'm done with the second theorem. Using this theorem, the equations are clearer and easier to see, however, because of the indices in the question, it might be difficult for anyone who doesn't have a proper understanding of quantum mechanics to be able to follow to the end.
For the first theorem, the indices are broken down quickly and made to become normal numbers, that way, there are lesser steps and it's easier to calculate."
This time, she had used close to five pages from the solving sheet she had been given to show the second theorem.
James looked at David and then took the sheet from her.
Just from looking at the first theorem, the both of them had been able to see that this girl knew what she was doing.
Not only that, the first theorem she had submitted was also similar to what their team had ended up using to solve it.
So while it had some little changes, they were still a little conflicted as someone could have shown her the solution.
But the chances were low and they were both still discussing to know the best way to settle the matter.
Now that she had brought another theorem, she was basically giving them a way out.
If the second one was nonsense, they would just disqualify her!
If it wasn't, then they had to do everything in their power to bring this heaven defying genius to them.
Rong Yue returned to her seat while the two professors started to check the second theorem.
At first, from the page one, they would occasionally glance up in the direction of Rong Yue. Since the camera man was also striving to follow the major characters, he caught one or two scenes of these.
By the time they got to the third page, professor James and David were already speaking in hushed tones and one could see that the argument was about the solution in front of them.
"Miss Yue," Professor David called out. "Please come over and enlighten us on some of your steps."
He was a professor in advanced mathematics while James majored in quantum physics, yet, the both of them were finding it difficult to understand her thought process.
Rong Yue stepped down and walked towards them. And just like that, the three of them began to discuss. In fact, a few viewers pointed out how it seemed like Rong Yue became the teacher while the other two showed enlightened looks from time to time.
After she explained up until the fifth page, the three of them stood up earnestly and David rushed to the microphone.
"Sorry for the hold up, after using two theorems, we have confirmed that this student had indeed solved these questions based on her own intelligence. To compensate for the allegations, we have decided to invite her to study in our college right after this competition." David announced.
The whole room burst into applause and several murmurs. It was difficult to get into MIT but to be even invited, it was really hard to imagine just how brilliant she was.
Some of the participants even had jealous gazes while the ambassadors outside the hall were really trying their best to not burst inside the hall.
They had been given a task but before they could even begin to work on it, who would abeg imagined that this would happen?
However, a cold light flashed in Rong Yue's eyes as she heard this offer. After making her write two theorems and sharing it with them, they wanted to settle by just an invitation.
David paused, waiting to hear Rong Yue's response and the hall became silent gradually also with everyone looking at Rong Yue.
"I refuse." Her throat was a little dry from not talking this whole time and when she talked her voice was a little hoarse, but it was still loud enough for everyone in the silent hall to hear her.
Not only David, everyone including the judges all had shocked looks on their faces at her reply.
"You refuse to join our school?" James asked not even bothering to use the microphone and Rong Yue nodded.
"The question has been left unanswered by even your students in the last ten years, yet, I have provided two solutions to it in less than an hour, with just this alone, would it be difficult for me to enter your school through the normal process?"
"Also, I have explained and showed you a theorem that belongs to me and doesn't exist to the public, together with the allegations I have previously suffered, the invitation doesn't seem like a genuine compensation."
Her words were clear and easy to follow and this time, a lot of the judges also nodded their heads in agreement.
On the surface, it seemed like a good offer but if one looked beneath it, it was really just so so.
Someone with her type of brain could easily enter the school also, so what was the entire point of the "invitation"
David flushed in embarrassment after hearing her reply.
"Erm.. this…"
