Pokémon Court-Chapter 62: Goddess of Love Venus
Chapter 62: Goddess of Love Venus
Mt. Coronet stretches endlessly, seemingly echoing with a faint trembling sound. The icy snow-capped peaks towered majestically in the morning sky. freeweb novel. com
The trees, now devoid of leaves, were adorned with abundant, fluffy, and heavy snowballs.
After leaving the academy, Terrance followed the same path back. Dressed in Crown Academy’s sportswear, he was well-prepared for the cold weather. After a busy night yesterday, Terrance’s first destination was the commercial district of Snowpoint City.
Swablu was lazily perched on Terrance’s head, seeming somewhat listless in the icy weather.
Terrance spent the entire afternoon and evening processing “medicine”. Now, after traversing a long stretch of mountainous terrain, he was extremely exhausted, as evidenced by the prominent dark circles under his eyes.
…
“You’re a Trainer from outside, right?”
The salesclerk took the small bottle Terrance handed over and showed a puzzled expression. “Perfume? You’ve come to the wrong place; we don’t buy these…If it were some Berries or herbs, we can purchase them at market prices to help Trainers. But this stuff… there’s no market for it.” The shop assistant appeared helpless.
“There’s no market?”
“There isn’t.”
Terrance scanned the shop, filled with Healing sprays, Antidotes, Ice Heals…..and mostly other medicines prepared for Pokémon.
“This perfume of mine is also for Pokémon.”
“Let’s…let’s call it a potion that can attract the opposite sex for Pokémon. I believe if you explain it to Trainers, it’ll definitely sell.” Terrance confidently stated.
“???” The salesclerk remained doubtful, and asked in surprise, “Even so, your item isn’t like herbs or Berries; those are natural. Your perfume is processed. I can’t take the risk.”
“Ugh…” Terrance felt it was getting complicated and troublesome.
“Will this help?” The only thing Terrance could think of was his Breeder certification.
The salesclerk was clearly knowledgeable and his eyes immediately widened when he saw the certificate, finding it hard to believe. “You’re a Breeder.”
“If you have a Breeder certification, we can consider purchasing any kind of medicine as a priority.”
“I need to consult with the manager.”
Terrance was at a Pokémon store in Snowpoint City. Large chain stores hadn’t yet appeared here, so various privately-owned shops profited by importing items like Antidotes, Burn Heals, etc.
There were also shops run by Breeders, selling some of their handmade trinkets to make a living.
Terrance was currently penniless, and whether he wanted to go somewhere or have a comfortable time outside, earning some money first was the most important thing.
Yesterday, he had exchanged some materials from the academy and made this bottle of “perfume” with the aim of exchanging it for some money to cover his expenses during the trip.
Goddess of Love Venus.
That was the name of the perfume, and it wasn’t Terrance’s original creation; it was one of the potions from the Crown Academy’s database.
Its origin could no longer be traced, but its ingredients were quite common, and its effects were interesting. With plenty of free time on his hands, Terrance decided to mix it up and produce the potion.
“There probably aren’t many people selling this kind of potion, right?”
Terrance chuckled. In the past, Trainers rarely cared about their Pokémon’s love lives, but things were different now.
Decades ago, Trainers were akin to “soldiers,” venturing into unknown lost territories for the league. But today, with the rapid advancement of technology, only the “top-tier forces” were truly needed to support the league’s expansion.
Using more people wasn’t beneficial for the current human development and was just a waste of resources.
Nowadays, Terrance felt that Trainers were more like athletes from his previous life or certain specialized professionals. However, they are more popular among the public and leave a deeper impression, making them the mainstream profession of this world.
Competitions like Pokémon Contests, the Lily of the Valley Conference, and the Elite Four Challenge Competition often attract a lot of public attention, so Trainers have gradually become a cultural trend, connecting a long economic chain.
Terrance believes that a few years later, Trainers should have become a part of every household if the storyline follows the the original work.
Even now, Trainers were no longer the pioneering machines of the league; they were more like a special group pursuing their dreams.
Friendship with Pokémon, their health, growth, appearance, and even love were all things that Trainers cared about.
Even if they are not Trainers and are from ordinary families, having a Pokémon as a pet, friend, or family member is common.
Therefore, certain potions that were previously overlooked, like Goddess of Love Venus, or similar perfumes that could dress up Pokémon, would eventually become popular in every corner.
…
…
“Darn it, that greedy fat*o…”
Terrance walked out of the store, his expression not good.
He explained the commercial value of “Goddess of Love Venus” to the store manager, but the person didn’t seem moved at all.
Terrance thought that when he mentioned the prospects of “Goddess of Love Venus,” the shop owner would grab his legs, and with tears streaming down their face, beg for cooperation, trying to retain such a treasure like him…
Instead, the shop owner merely said, “Out of respect for you being a Breeder… reluctantly, I’ll buy some and see how it sells.”
Terrance felt like spitting blood.
He managed to sell all ten bottles for only 400 yen each.
Even the mass-produced antidote sprays, despite having relatively common ingredients, didn’t sell for much, which made Terrance feel disheartened.
After all, it was crafted by a Junior Breeder, and the ingredients used weren’t ordinary. The price he received was far below Terrance’s expectations… He originally thought he could sell each bottle for at least 1,000 yen, or at least 800, but…
Just thinking about how the secret formulas for Protein, Iron, and Calcium were monopolized by big companies and were being sold by black marketers for nearly 10,000 yuan per bottle, Terrance couldn’t help but feel speechless
While others multiplies their profits, he could barely break even.
As a Junior Breeder, he couldn’t even make a profit from his labor fees.
With the corners of his mouth twitching, Terrance looked at the old bills in his hand, feeling somewhat distressed. These were obtained by exchanging credits; he had to be thrifty with them…
Walking on the street, Terrance didn’t head towards the harbor. With his current financial situation, taking a single boat trip would practically set him back to where he started before coming down from the mountains.
Snowpoint City’s harbor was probably the liveliest place because it was the only route to the Battle Zone.
Ever since the Battle Zone was established some years ago, most of Sinnoh’s Trainers honed their skills there and challenged strong opponents. It was the most concentrated area for Sinnoh Trainers, and many people from other regions also gathered there.
Any Trainer would want to visit the Battle Zone to witness countless Trainer battles.
