Pokémon Court-Chapter 491: Akon’s Dream
Chapter 491 - Akon's Dream
The next day, at Crown Academy.
Terrance returned as a graduate, visiting his alma mater. Upon arriving, the first thing he did was notify the only classmate he had a good relationship with—Akon.
Inside Akon's dormitory, Akon handed Terrance a bottle of drink and said, "Let me see it."
"Here." Taking the drink, Terrance pulled out a black fragment from his backpack and tossed it to Akon.
"This is the thing. Do you know what it is?"
Akon squeezed it in his hand, then sniffed it before shaking his head. "Never seen it before."
"As expected..." Terrance sighed. He was already prepared to spend time searching through the academy's database for information.
"But speaking of which, aren't you planning to apply for graduation yet? I remember you've already obtained your Junior Breeder license, right?" Terrance asked.
"There's still time." Akon shook his head. "A Junior Breeder license doesn't mean much to me..."
"Staying at the academy allows me to continue learning a lot of things."
Terrance remained silent. Akon's full name was Akon Matsuda. Because of their close friendship, Terrance knew about Akon's unique circumstances... Although Akon was the son of Kanto Region's tycoon Ken Matsuda, he was an illegitimate child.
That was why Akon had been sent to study far away in Sinnoh.
Due to his status, Akon was destined to be unable to inherit the family business. Even though Ken Matsuda had spent a fortune to send Akon to Crown Academy, simply obtaining a Junior Breeder license and returning didn't hold much meaning for him.
"So, what do you plan to do next?" Terrance asked.
"I haven't decided yet, but I'll probably aim to get the Intermediate Breeder license first..."
"Is just the Intermediate Breeder enough?" Terrance looked at Akon. What Akon planned to accomplish was even more difficult than his own goals.
When Akon was eight, his mother passed away due to illness. However, Akon never got to see her one last time. This had always been a source of pain for him, lingering in his heart even now. As a result, Akon developed a reserved personality, rarely interacting with other students aside from Terrance, immersing himself completely in his studies.
At the age of thirteen, he earned his Junior Breeder license with a perfect exam score. Terrance had always believed that Akon was smarter than him.
But Akon's dream... was truly far out of reach.
Akon wanted to become a famous Breeder and then use his status to gather many Trainers to help him search for Celebi. He hoped to use Celebi's power to travel through time and see his mother one last time...
"My mother passed away due to illness. That's why, when I saw that Ralts' body might have issues, I couldn't ignore it..." Terrance recalled Akon's words when he had asked why Akon was so concerned about Ralts.
"Traveling through time, huh..." Terrance thought about Akon's dream. If this were his previous life, he would have scoffed at it, considering it too fanciful and unrealistic. But in this world...
Celebi's ability to travel through time had already been scientifically proven.
Even so, achieving this dream would be extremely difficult. Even if he successfully captured Celebi, the so-called "Guardian of the Forest," it was not guaranteed that Celebi would willingly take him through time.
"Intermediate Breeder is enough." Akon thought for a moment before smiling. "This is just a dream of mine. I only want to give myself hope. Whether I succeed or not, I've never really cared."
"Besides... it's said that Celebi has the power to travel through time, but no one knows if there's a price to pay. If doing so would harm Celebi, then I would give up."
"Alright... if you ever run into trouble, you can call me. As long as it's within my ability, I'll help you," Terrance said.
"Mm, I won't hold back." Akon's eyes gleamed slightly under his bowl-cut hair. "But enough about me. How long are you planning to stay this time?"
"Not too long. I'll leave once I finish searching for some information. I still have unfinished matters at the Gym," Terrance said helplessly.

"That fragment's material looks really strange... I remember the academy's database has records of thousands upon thousands of unique materials..." Akon could already picture Terrance struggling as he combed through the vast collection of data.
"It's fine, it's fine, I can handle it, hahaha..." Terrance laughed, though his expression didn't look too good.
"Before you start searching, why not ask the teachers? If any of them recognize it, it could save you a lot of time," Akon suggested.
"Good idea. I'll go ask Teacher Teresa first," Terrance said.
...
"What are you back for this time?" Teacher Teresa asked, puzzled.
"I heard from Akon that after I applied for graduation, the teachers were really sad, so I came back to visit," Terrance said with a serious expression.
"Sad?" Teresa looked surprised. "Who? That Julian?"
"Uh..." Terrance was momentarily stunned before saying, "Maybe."
Then he sighed slightly. Why did he feel a faint sense of disappointment?
"Anyway, Teacher Teresa, I actually have another reason for coming back this time—I'd like to use the academy's data management system," Terrance said.
The data management system was a network platform at Crown Academy. In a way, half of the academy's foundation relied on this system.
"Do you not understand your current status?" Teresa asked.
The academy's data was only available to teachers and students. Even students needed a certain number of credits to access some of the more special records.
Terrance had already graduated for several months, and his student ID had expired. It was rare for a graduate to return just to browse the database.
"Why not just ask Akon to check for you?"
"At first, I thought of that too... but the workload is quite large, and there's no clear category," Terrance said, feeling troubled.
"How about this, Teacher Teresa—please take a look at this first," he said, taking out the fragment from the dream device once again.
"What is this..." Teacher Teresa took it, her expression changing in the same way Akon's had earlier. As expected, she didn't recognize the material either.
"I figured." Terrance had already anticipated this outcome. The number of unique materials in nature was practically endless, and even the academy's vast database couldn't possibly document everything. Let alone any single individual being able to know it all.
"You're trying to find out what this thing is?" Teresa, intrigued by the deep, dark material, asked curiously, "Where did you get it?"
"It fell off a device used by an illegal organization to control Pokémon," Terrance replied.
