Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom-Chapter 566 - 565: The Killing Machine!
Chapter 566 - 565: The Killing Machine!
Skorupi had fully entered its peak state.
At this moment, with the buildup of energy within its body and the frenzy of combat, it launched itself directly into the group of Scolipede.
Upon witnessing how Skorupi had brutally and swiftly taken down one of their companions, the Scolipede had no intention of facing it, scattering in all directions.
After eliminating several more Scolipede, Skorupi's body temperature continued to rise.
Ssssss!
Skorupi stood on the damp earth, the contact of its feet with the ground producing a hissing sound.
Cain had been closely observing Skorupi's condition.
As described in the reports, when the body absorbs this much energy, it grows in size and its body temperature rises to varying degrees.
The higher the temperature, the more energy was within it, indicating that this process of "toxin nutrition" had been a success.
"You're almost there, Skorupi. Just hang in there a little longer, you're nearly there!" Cain thought silently.
At this point, if Skorupi failed to evolve, it would be impossible to stop the process.
Cain and his team ventured deeper into enemy territory.
Finally, after Skorupi defeated another advanced-level Scolipede, its temperature reached its peak.
Steam rose freely from its body, which seemed to be cooking itself.
"Cha!"
Skorupi roared mightily, crushing a Scolipede under its feet and intimidating all the others around it.
Suddenly, the steam emanating from its body vanished, and a bright white light enveloped it.
Cain noticed that Skorupi's stats had reached their maximum limit, and even appeared to be on the verge of surpassing it.
From his spatial storage, Cain pulled out a black venom sac the size of a fist.
This venom had been obtained from the leader of the Scolipede they had defeated the previous day.
When Altaria finished off that leader, Cain had seized the opportunity to extract the venom while Altaria stood guard.
This venom sac was key in Cain's decision to use the method described in the Team Rocket reports.
"Skorupi, eat it," Cain commanded, using his psychic powers to send the venom sac toward the light-wrapped Skorupi.
Without hesitation, fully trusting Cain, Skorupi swallowed the venom in a single gulp.
Instantly, the light that had previously seemed faint intensified and completely engulfed it.
Cain's other Pokémon, familiar with this process, surrounded Skorupi and their trainer, remaining vigilant against any threats from the Scolipede.
However, the Scolipede were so terrified of Skorupi that they dared not approach, let alone attack.
Evolve...
Skorupi!
The intense white light covered Skorupi, obscuring it from view, but Cain could still monitor Skorupi's changes through his system.
The most notable change was that the limits Skorupi had reached were now expanding.
It was like a jar filled to the brim with water, now being enlarged to hold even more.
That was Skorupi's current state.
Perhaps due to the sheer amount of accumulated energy, Skorupi's evolution lasted a full twenty minutes—the longest evolution Cain had ever seen among his Pokémon.
Interestingly, Skorupi was the only one of Cain's main five Pokémon that didn't require special conditions to evolve.
Honchkrow needed the Dusk Stone, Slowking required a King's Rock and a Shellder, Weavile needed a Razor Claw, and Gengar needed sufficient concentrated ghost energy. However, Skorupi only needed to reach the proper level.
Of course, Cain's process wasn't simply for Skorupi to evolve in an ordinary way.
During evolution, any improvements to a Pokémon's capabilities were maximized.
When the light began to fade, the blue-purple Skorupi Cain knew was gone. In its place stood an imposing Drapion, purple with pinkish tones.
It was a fully evolved Drapion!
Its height had increased dramatically, reaching 2.5 meters—almost double its previous size—now comparable to the Scolipede.
It was practically an unstoppable killing machine!
Before its evolution, Drapion had already been capable of using every part of its body in battle. Now, its joints were more flexible, its armor tougher, and its pincers and stinger sharper.
"Cha!"
Drapion opened its mouth and let out a powerful roar that echoed throughout the forest.
This was its cry of triumph after evolving.
Now, standing at 2.5 meters tall, Drapion had become the largest Pokémon on Cain's team, capable of providing a tremendous sense of security to everyone.
With such a large, strong, and combat-capable Pokémon by his side, anyone would feel safer.
Cain approached Drapion, raising his hand to touch the highest joint on its chest.
Drapion, seeing Cain approach, obediently knelt down so its trainer could pat its head.
Cain smiled, stroking its head and feeling its sharp spikes. "You've finally evolved. Congratulations, Drapion!"
From the moment Drapion had hatched, Cain had invested heavily in its growth, watching it develop into a formidable fighter who relished battle and intensity.
Whether facing powerful foes or playing during breaks, Drapion had always displayed relentless determination.
Now, it had finally evolved.
Drapion closed its eyes and smiled, feeling the warmth of Cain's hand on its head.
Since birth, Drapion had seen Cain as a father figure, and Cain had fulfilled that role by guiding and training it.
"From now on, I'll have even more strength to protect you!" Drapion silently vowed.
Cain was thoroughly satisfied with Drapion's current state. The evolution method based on "toxin nutrition" obtained from Team Rocket, while not followed exactly, had proven incredibly effective.
After all, one only needed to count how many Scolipede Drapion had defeated today.
Of course, it worked!
He had practically used half the Scolipede colony as stepping stones for Drapion's evolution.
Hundreds of them, including many advanced-level Scolipede and one quasi-elite.
Success was inevitable!
