Pokemon - A real story-Chapter 821: Axel Vs Moriarty

"I am Cera and I will be the referee of this gym battle. Before the start of the battle, I will tell you all the rules. The rules of the gym are a bit different as most of you know. The rules are:

This will be a 3 VS 3 Pokemons gym battle. The gym leader will be the first one to send out his Pokemon and cannot change the Pokemon during the battle. The challenger could change his Pokemon. The gym leader will only use elemental rank Pokemons and fire-type Pokemons from the Johto region Pokedex. None of them could use any items during the battle. Gym leader will take out his Pokemon first. If the gym leader judges that the fire type knowledge of the trainer is lower then even if he won the battle, he will have to go through another test. The trainer must win the battle for this new test to be valid. The test will be that if the challenger has a fire-type Pokemon, the challenger will use his most powerful fire-type Pokemon and the gym leader will use his own fire-type Pokemon of the same rank. If the challenger wins this, he will get the badge. The gym leader could use any fire-type Pokemons in this battle. If the challenger doesn't have a fire type Pokemon, then he would use his most powerful Pokemon and the gym leader will use a Pokemon with a sub rank higher than that of the challenger. If the challenger wins this then he will get the badge.

Now, are you both ready for the gym battle?", asked Cera.

"Yes, I am."

"Yes, I am."

Cera nodded her head and said, "The gym leader is requested to send out his first Pokemon."

"Axel, show me how good you are, come out!!", shouted Moriarty and then threw the ball out.

It was a limbless Pokemon. Its oval eyes were large and yellow with small pupils and extended upward from its head. It had a bulbous snout and a wide mouth, with two drops of magma dangling from each side of its upper jaw. Its back was protected by a gray, spherical shell composed of hardened, but brittle magma, forming irregular lumps and plates. A streak of fire leaked from the side of its shell.

Axel was impressed by Magcargo's stats. It was already on the verge of reaching pseudo-king rank. It looked like Moriarty was not playing around. Except for the stats, its move pool was not as impressive as Axel had thought. Almost all of its moves were fire types and only some of them were rock types. There was only one poison type and one physic type moves.

The first battle was always important. If Axel could get a good lead in the first battle, the pressure would be on Moriarty. But Axel also didn't want to use his best Pokemon in the first fight.

So, he had to choose. He took one of the master balls and then threw it in the sky.

A water-type Pokemon resembling a crocodile came out of the ball. This was Feraligatr.

Magcargo was incredibly weak to water-type moves. It did have moves like 'Light screen' to block some of the damage of special water-type moves but Feraligatr was proficient in using physical moves.

Feraligatr was also very speedy while Magcargo was very slow. It was literally a snail. Yet, there were some risks. The Pokemon had mastered its ability 'Flame body' which could make Feraligatr feel the burn and that was highly possible cause Feraligatr was a physical type attacker.

So, Axel had to play it safe.

Axel opened Feraligatr's stats to see it before the start of the battle.

There were some changes in its stats. It had learned 'Liquidation' and a new move called 'Water scales'. Actually, Axel was surprised that it learned this move. This move had increased its defense. 'Liquidation' was also a good move but what he wanted was the modified version of it. But that would take some time.

"Are you both ready to battle?", asked Cera.

"Yes." X2

"Let the battle begin!!!", shouted Cera and both of the Pokemons jumped for action.

None of them spoke any commands. Feraligatr started to dance for 'Rain dance' while Magcargo used 'Flamethrower' right towards Feraligatr.

Axel was surprised by this move. Since it had 'Sunny day', he expected it to use it. Feraligatr was hit by the move but before that, Axel said, "Use 'Water scales'"

The scales on its whole body shined in blue light and it crossed its arms to block the attack. The move was fast and it didn't have the time to dodge the move.

Taking the advantage of it, Moriarty said, "Use 'Iron defense'"

Magcargo gave a big roar and its whole body shinned in gray light. The move would increase the defense of the user which was going to be vital in this battle.

"Use 'Aqua jet' and then use 'Ice punch'", said Axel.

"Use 'Light screen' and then use 'Fire path'", said Moriarty.

Magcargo used 'Light screen' and the front of Magcargo was now covered in purple light of screen. Then its body started to heat at exceptionally and then the whole place was covered in fire. Yet, it looked like these fires were placed in straight line and curved lines in the battles stadium.

Feraligatr was very fast with 'Aqua jet'. The speed of the attack was very high and before Magcargo could even dodge the move, it was hit by multiple 'Ice punches' on its whole face.

Feraligatr stepped back and then used the move 'Rain dance'. Axel could see that its hands were now a bit burned. The opposing Pokemon's body was filled with fire and lava. Magcargo heated its body while it was receiving the punches.

'Light screen' did decrease the power of the punches but it was not so successful. Yet, Axel knew that 'Rain dance' was going to be essential in this fight cause he didn't want Magcargo to burn his Pokemon.

As Feraligatr was using 'Rain dance', Magcargo also used 'Sunny day'. The mastery of 'Sunny day' looked to be very powerful as the place was heated a lot by the move.

Now, the sun was shining high and it was raining heavily. The mastery of 'Rain dance' was also very high with level 50+. This move also increased the stamina recovery of Feraligatr which was going to be very nice in the battle.

Then suddenly Magcargo moved towards the back of Feraligatr and then used the move 'Flamethrower' again. The move was unexpected as it was fast for a Pokemon like Magcargo.

Feraligatr was still hit by the attack. Since this move was in close range, the move was very powerful. Feraligatr had used the move 'Aqua ring' while also using 'Rain dance', so it was a bit slow. It took a defensive stance to parry the attack.

Axel was still figuring out how Magcargo could move so fast when he realized that it was due to 'Fire path'.

Axel wanted to increase the difficulty of the battle, so he had not read the move description of the new moves of Magcargo and now he was starting to regret it.

The move would pave a path made of fire around the battlefield and if Magcargo was to move to this fire path, its speed would increase to a very high level.

Of course, its speed was still not as high as Feraligatr but this led it to use a surprise attack.

Feraligatr had a lot of status moves like 'Dragon dance', 'Sword dance', 'Work up', and 'Ancient power' but Feraligatr could not use those moves right now cause Magcargo was not giving it more time.

"Focus on those burning fires in the ground and extinguish it.", said Axel immediately and Feraligatr focused on mostly dodging the attack and extinguishing the fire.

The battle went on for 3-4 more minutes and Feraligatr was actually losing. It could not directly hit Magcargo cause it didn't want to get burned and Magcargo was very efficient in using its special type moves to counter its every move.

Axel could see that the effect of 'Sunny day' was going to be over but the rain was still falling very hard. Feraligatr had really trained a lot in this move and this was proving to be useful.

Finally, Moriarty said, 'Lava plume'.

This move was nothing he had ever imagined. Pillars of lava came out from various parts of the battle stadium. Feraligatr had dodged a lot for these moves and at that time,

Magcargo used 'Sunny day' again and then used the move 'Heat wave'. The move 'Heat wave' was clearly modified cause as Magcargo started to use the move it looked like a sandstorm where each of the sand was burning with fire.

This rapidly increased the temperature and Feraligatr was now at a disadvantage. But Feraligatr took advantage of that time and used a concentrated 'Hydro pump' on Magcargo.

The move hit it directly and it was flown off to the ground. Feraligatr took this time to use 'Dragon dance' and 'Swords dance' to rapidly improve its stats and then used the move 'Rain dance' yet again to increase the duration of the move.

Axel could see that Feraligatr was losing a lot of health from this 'Heat wave'. He needed to finish this battle as soon as possible.

Moriarty was also thinking the same thing cause he could feel that the stamina of Feraligatr was higher than Magcargo.

"Use 'Overheat'"

This was an overpowered move and it was mostly a final move in each battle. With the help of 'Sunny day', the power of this move had increased and then it used a powerful 'Overheat' on Feraligatr.

The move was fast and Axel only had half a second to make the decision.

"Use 'Dig'", shouted Axel cause there was no way that Feraligatr could defend that attack.

But this move was a foolish one.

"Axel, you need to be prepared for anything. Use 'Volcanic eruption'", shouted Moriarty.

Suddenly, a ground started to shake like it was an earthquake and then a huge lava came out of the ground like a pillar of powerful heat and Feraligatr with it.

The move was used exactly where Feraligatr was. The move was very powerful and Feraligatr was injured now. It could not last very long. Even with 'Aqua ring', Feraligatr was not healing fast enough but Moriarty was not done.

"Use 'Smog'"
