Chapter 48: Chapter 48 I Want You to Sleep with Me
Chapter 48 -48 I Want You to Sleep with Me
Zhou Jin’an didn’t waste another word with An Kexin, striding away quickly and decisively.
He didn’t like her.
The less he liked her, the more An Kexin wanted to challenge him.
She slowly got up from the ground, picked up the thermos, and threw it into the trash can.
As she left, there were tears in the corner of her eye, but the chill was biting.
For the next few days, she did not appear at the hospital, and her lovingly made chicken soup vanished along with her.
One day, Qiao En brought back a clay pot soup, and Qiao De tasted it and spit it out, “This soup tastes awful, not as good as Kexin’s.”
Qiao En was visiting his father, and his mother nagged, “En, why hasn’t Miss An come these last few days? You two haven’t had a falling out, have you? That girl comes from a good background and is well-mannered, you should be grateful.”

See, it wasn’t just Qiao De; even his mother had started to like An Kexin.
“Mom, I need to go back to the company for a bit.”
Qiao En made an excuse and slipped out, but actually, he really did go back to the company.
As he passed the main office, everyone lifted their heads to look at him.
A few days prior, Qiao En had been taken away by the police right from here, creating quite the stir.
They hadn’t expected that Qiao En would safely return here again.
“Manager Xu.”
Ignoring everyone’s odd glances, Qiao En knocked on Xu Mei’s office door.
Xu Mei was leaning back in her leather recliner, texting on her phone.
Seeing Qiao En appear, she looked up and glanced at him, “Why are you at the company if you haven’t handled your issues yet?”
Qiao En walked in, pulled over a chair from Xu Mei’s desk, and sat down.
“I’m handling it right now, it’s not interfering with work.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Mei slammed her phone down on the desk, “Qiao En, we run a serious company, can you handle the responsibility if your issues cause the company losses?”
Qiao En laughed, grabbed a cigarette and a lighter from Xu Mei’s desk, and crossed his legs as he lit one.
“Manager Xu, I’m innocent, and the police are investigating. It’s only a matter of time before my name is cleared. Both my father and brother are in the hospital, and I have a debt of a million to deal with. Opening my eyes is costly every day, can I just sit and wait to die?”
Qiao En blew a long ring of smoke toward Xu Mei. She wasn’t one to play the sympathy card, but now she spoke lightly of her predicament, seeming to invite compassion.
Xu Mei pondered for a moment, picked up her phone and said, “I can’t decide this, I’ll have to check with President An.”
She said this and stood up, walking toward the window, and dialed An Jinhua’s number.
“President An.”
Xu Mei’s voice was hushed as she briefly recounted Qiao En’s situation.
At the end, it seemed there was a reply from the other side; Qiao En didn’t hear it clearly, only hearing Xu Mei say, “Alright, I’ll follow your instructions.”
When Xu Mei finished the phone call, the cigarette in Qiao En’s hand had also burned out. He pressed the stub into the ashtray.
Xu Mei returned to her seat, looking meaningfully at Qiao En.
“President An said you can come back to work, but you need to resolve your issues as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, President An and Manager Xu, I will resolve them as quickly as I can.”
Qiao En nodded, stood up, and left Xu Mei’s office.
In the pantry, several women were gathered, chatting enthusiastically, completely unaware that Qiao En was standing right behind them.
“Look at her shameless demeanor, she looks like she would do anything. Stealing Director Nie’s official seal, she really has the nerve!”
“Exactly, I heard that she used to work as a secretary or something for a big company’s boss, probably got kicked out for liking to steal too.”
“You all better be careful, lock up anything valuable you have. With a thief around, be cautious she might swipe your stuff.”
…
They chatted merrily while Qiao En listened with great interest.
It wasn’t until Xu Mei came out of her office and spotted the scene.
“It’s working hours, why aren’t you working instead of chitchatting?”
Her scolding made the others jerk their heads around, to see Qiao En smiling radiantly.
“Continue, I love to listen.”
Qiao En stood apart, as if she wasn’t the person they were demonizing.
She wasn’t angry or upset.
The awkward ones were them.
They scrambled away en masse, one of them even forgetting her coffee cup.
Qiao En called her back, “Mengmeng, do you still want your cup? If not—”
Dragging out her words deliberately, the girl named Mengmeng hurried back, grabbed her coffee cup, and fled.
She was so focused on fleeing that coffee spilled from her cup, staining her white long dress with blotches reminiscing blooming poop.
Once everyone had gone, the pantry was at peace.
Qiao En picked a tea bag and brewed herself a cup of oolong tea.
Xu Mei’s gaze was laden with concern as she walked toward Qiao En.
“There’s a gathering tonight, and I’ve heard the boss is tough. President An said whoever can handle him will get a three percent increase in their commission. You’re in urgent need of money, right? I came to ask you first. If you’re not going, I’ll ask someone else.”
As Xu Mei spoke to Qiao En, everyone in the large office stretched their necks to look their way, but they didn’t dare to do so openly, sneaking glances instead.
“I’ll go, I’m willing to go.”
Qiao En responded.
To climb mountains of swords, to plunge into seas of flames, as long as it made money, she was in.
Xu Mei sighed softly, “Then you’d better be sure, this guy is no ordinary tough nut to crack.”
“Don’t worry, I promise to complete the mission.”
Qiao En was brimming with confidence.
Xu Mei looked at her deeply, hesitated to speak, but ultimately remained silent.
At seven in the evening.
Qiao En and two other public relations staff went to Jinma Entertainment.
This time, they were still in a large private room.
Qiao En had done her homework in advance. Tonight, the boss she needed to conquer was Qiu Zeming, who ran a leisure resort that did business with An Corporation, but for some reason, he had proposed terminating the contract a few days ago.
Tonight, Qiao En’s task was to persuade Qiu Zeming to continue the cooperation.
In the private room, Qiao En sat next to Qiu Zeming.
He was tall, with a large beer belly and a long, unpleasant horse face.
“President Qiu, let me toast to you first.”
Qiao En poured a glass of wine and raised it to Qiu Zeming.
He merely gave Qiao En a cold look, did not pick up his glass, nor did he drink.
He had an air of being aloof and invincible.
“Then I’ll drink this in your honor.”
Qiao En tilted her head back and downed the wine in her glass.
Qiu Zeming remained utterly still.
“How about I sing a song with President Qiu?”
Qiao En suggested.
Qiu Zeming snorted coldly through his nose. He didn’t say anything but ignored Qiao En as well.
This was the first time Qiao En had encountered someone like this, and she was momentarily at a loss.
She racked her brains to establish a friendly communication with Qiu Zeming, but he wasn’t buying what she was selling.
“President Qiu, why don’t we talk about the cooperation? It’s completely disadvantageous for you to terminate your contract with An Corporation now…”
Qiao En hadn’t finished speaking when Qiu Zeming suddenly stood up in anger and headed straight for the door.
Instinctively, Qiao En got up and chased after him.
Before coming, she had guaranteed to Xu Mei that she would manage this, and if she failed, she wouldn’t know how to explain herself to Xu Mei.
Outside the private room, Qiu Zeming walked along the carpeted corridor, his pace steady, seemingly waiting for Qiao En on purpose.
Qiao En quickened her steps and caught up.
“President Qiu, whatever your thoughts on the cooperation, we can discuss them.”
Qiu Zeming paused, looking down at Qiao En from his greater height, and suddenly spoke, “Let’s talk somewhere else.”
As he spoke, he pushed open the door of a private room at the end of the corridor.
The room was dimly lit, with drinks and glasses arranged on the table.
Qiu Zeming carelessly poured a glass of whisky and handed it to Qiao En, “Drink this, and then we’ll talk.”
He had given Qiao En an opportunity and she didn’t dare miss it.
So, Qiao En took the glass without a second thought, tilted her head, and poured it all down her throat.
The liquor was spicy, burning down her throat as if bursting into bloom.
“President Qiu, you’ve been cooperating with An Corporation for many years—we go way back. Whatever your demands are, feel free to make them. I will definitely strive to secure the maximum benefits for you if you continue the partnership with An Corporation,”
Qiao En recited the arguments she had prepared in advance, while Qiu Zeming held onto his glass of whisky, poured himself a large half-glass, but didn’t drink, just shook it continuously.
It shook Qiao En’s head dizzy.
“My requirement is very simple.”
Qiu Zeming narrowed his eyes and sized up Qiao En.
She had drunk the alcohol, her face flushed red, extremely charming.
“Go ahead.”
Qiao En forced a smile.
Qiu Zeming stretched out a finger, pointing at Qiao En as he spoke, “I want you to spend the night with me.”
