Please Let Me Go, My Contracted Ex-Husband.-Chapter 205 - - hurt
Chapter 205 - 205- hurt
She had always known that her little sister was living a tough life. Despite being such a fragile girl, she insisted on appearing strong, as if she were invincible. In reality, she was simply afraid of being hurt.
But after all these years of pretending, that hard exterior was eventually shattered by a man named Albert. He took her unguarded, soft heart, only to deliver her the most lethal blow.
She had always known that a gentle man like Vincent couldn't control someone as distant as her. Only a man like Albert—powerful, domineering, and not gentle—could make her submit. She was tough, and he was even tougher. After a clash of wills, the stronger one prevailed, and in the end, it was Albert who won.
"Olive—"
Maureen's lips trembled as she tried to speak. Cynthia leaned in close to her ear and finally understood that she was calling for Olive. Cynthia immediately responded, "Maureen, the little girl is a handful. I wasn't sure what your condition was, so I didn't dare bring her."
Maureen, trembling, grabbed her hand, showing her displeasure that Cynthia hadn't brought Olive. Every time Olive was mentioned, Cynthia's face softened with warmth.
"Next time, I promise I'll bring her... so she can see Maureen..."
"But Maureen, that little girl is terribly lazy, always wanting to be carried and refusing to walk. You must get better quickly. Otherwise, when she asks for a hug, you won't be able to carry her anymore..."
As Cynthia spoke, her tears started to flow again. A tear also slowly slipped down Maureen's cheek.
In the silver-gray car not far away, Albert sat quietly, watching the person in the distance, clutching their head and crying in agony. His heart, too, was filled with bitterness.
Regarding Maureen, he had not had it easy these years either. He didn't kill Bo Ren, but Bo Ren died because of him. Ultimately, because of him, Lucca had carried out such a horrific deed.
At first, he had wanted to help Wendy find evidence to expose those who had hurt Maureen, and the ones who had incited them, including Lucca, so they could be brought to justice. However, those people had already been sent abroad by Lucca, and the situation had been handled so meticulously that they couldn't find any evidence. So, he had no choice but to give up.

Later, he funded Wendy to have Maureen undergo surgery and brought in the top brain specialists from both domestic and international fields to consult on Maureen's condition. He had explained the situation to Wendy, and Wendy chose to trust him. They had eaten together before, and Wendy understood his character well. Men's conversations tended to be more rational, and their discussions had been straightforward.
In fact, what hurt him more was that, back then, she didn't listen to his explanation. She stabbed him fiercely and placed all the blame on his shoulders.
Albert wasn't someone who would easily be kind to others, but back then, he gave her his whole heart. Yet, she treated him like that. Her distrust had left him completely disheartened.
But now, what was the use of thinking so much about the past? No matter who was right or wrong back then, now it was just him, feeling desolate and heartbroken, while she claimed to be happy.
He thought of that night when she sang that song, her hardened gaze, her indifferent expression, and it gave him an immense headache. He raised his hand to rub his forehead, then glanced at the slender figure in the distance. He drove off, heading to the mall. Earlier, to get the little one not to follow him, he had promised to bring her back something delicious.
He wasn't like her, controlling Olive's weight and forbidding her from eating sweet things. It was cruel to suppress such a little child's desires like that. Even if Olive gained weight, he thought it could be dealt with when she grew up. Looking at Olive's small frame, she probably wouldn't even get that fat.
As for teaching Olive to dance, he didn't want his precious daughter growing up to be like her, dancing provocatively and attracting a bunch of men with impure intentions.
Just look at her. Her first love, Vincent, fine, but then there were those immature boys from school, and that younger student of hers, Gary, he could tell Gary had feelings for her too. What was worse was that she even attracted Quinn. The mere thought of it made him so angry his blood boiled.
He didn't want Olive to be like her, attracting all sorts of men. He wanted his precious daughter to have a simple, ordinary life, find a like-minded, regular man to marry. He didn't care about the man's family background, as long as he treated Olive well.
Maybe it was because of all the turmoil he had personally experienced, the pain he had felt, something only someone who had lived through such hardships could understand. That was why he hoped Olive's life would be as simple as possible.
After buying two big bags of snacks in the mall's snack section, he carried the items toward the underground parking lot. Just as he reached his car, he heard faint voices coming from behind a distant pillar. A familiar female voice sounded, filled with urgency and frustration:
"What exactly do you want from me?"
Then came the man's mocking laugh.
"Not that we want anything, just that the money we earned a few years ago is all spent, and now we're hoping to borrow a bit more from Miss Lucca to spend!"
It was Lucca! His brow instantly furrowed. He replayed the words in his mind, and his face changed dramatically. He stepped to the side slightly and saw clearly that it was indeed Lucca with two burly men, their faces full of roughness.
But the distance was a bit far, and their voices were too low for him to hear clearly. Still, he held his breath and focused, straining to listen.
Behind the pillar, Lucca was shaking with anger, her face pale as she pointed a trembling finger at the two men in front of her, shouting in a low voice.
"How can you be so shameless? I've already settled the money with you! I even paid you an extra five hundred thousand, and now you come asking me for more money?!"
One of the men spat disdainfully.
"Miss Lucca, all these years, we've been living under assumed names, abandoning our wives, and you sent us overseas. The loss has been considerable. And with the high cost of living abroad, the money you gave us was spent in less than two years. In the end, we nearly ended up as street beggars!"
