Chapter 194 - 194- please call me Kynthia

Behind them, two distinguished men stood facing each other. After a polite handshake, they gave each other a cold, measured glance. Both were tall and elegant, dressed in black, but overall, James appeared to be slightly older than Albert, giving him a more composed and mature demeanor.

Albert, on the other hand, had a cold expression that created a sense of distance and indifference, as though rejecting anyone who came near. The excruciating pain of the past four years had imbued him with a touch of rebelliousness and a brooding aura.

At this moment, his expression showed no signs of improvement. Just now, he had clearly seen the exchange of glances between her and the man. This woman, how is it that wherever she goes, she has the knack for flirting with every man she meets?

James had clearly sensed Albert's jealousy. He nonchalantly spread his hands in explanation.

"It seems Albert has misunderstood something. I only thought Miss Kynthia looked quite like an old friend of mine!"

"You'd better not have any ill intentions!" Albert coldly retorted, throwing the words over his shoulder as he walked into the hotel. James stood there, helplessly shaking his head with a smile.

He had heard a bit from Bonnie about the relationship between Vice President Wilson and the recently mentioned Miss Kynthia, but it seemed that Wilson's pursuit of her was going to be a tough road. Sigh, why does one only learn to cherish something after it's been lost?

Hopefully, he wouldn't have to face such a situation, but how long would it take for that woman to truly open her heart to him? After four years of marriage, her indifferent and distant attitude had caused him to lose confidence in their relationship.

Both of them were no longer young, yet she still refused to bear him a child. No matter how much he pampered her, and despite her being well-liked by his family, in such a prestigious family, not having children was starting to earn her the disapproval of the older generation.

He sighed heavily again before turning and entering the hotel. It's said that every family has its own difficulties, and perhaps that is indeed true.

Inside the hotel's large private room, everyone had arrived. Cynthia hadn't expected so many people to show up. Besides Rannie and Monica, whom she knew, there were many unfamiliar faces.

Later, Rannie introduced them as the wives of the third and fourth young masters, along with their bodyguards, assistants, and a whole group of others. They were all from BlackRock, and Cynthia felt out of place. What was the point of this gathering? She no longer had any ties to BlackRock.

Rannie was familiar with everyone, introducing them one by one. Though Cynthia felt awkward, she couldn't refuse Rannie's good intentions and went along with it. As the conversation went on, she gradually realized that this whole group had come to persuade her, whether she knew them or not.

Monica immediately hugged her and started wiping her tears.

"Cynthia, I'm so happy to see you. This is really great! So wonderful!"

Cynthia felt a bit annoyed by the way she was addressing her, but seeing her eyes red from crying, she couldn't bring herself to interrupt. She pretended not to hear the way Monica called her and exchanged pleasantries instead.

Vivian was almost the last to arrive, saying that there had been terrible traffic. Cynthia was thrilled. She hadn't expected Vivian to come today, and now it seemed like her side had all the right people, while his side appeared to have even more.

During the meal, there were so many people that they split into two large tables in the private room: one for the men and one for the women. The banquet started with the host, Carbles, giving a speech.

So, when it was her turn to speak, she picked up her wine glass and spoke without hesitation:

"I'm not very good at speaking, but I would like to thank Carbles for his generous hospitality and everyone for their blessings!"

She paused for a moment, raising her eyes to glance at the crowd. A look of determination and persistence crossed her delicate features.

"Additionally, I want to make something clear. Mr. Wilson and I divorced four years ago, so from now on, please call me... Kynthia, or Miss Lancaster, if you prefer. Thank you!"

After finishing her words, she tilted her head back and drank her wine in one go. The cold gaze and blunt words left the room in stunned silence. After a few exchanged glances, the crowd awkwardly chuckled or started talking to cover up the sudden awkwardness.

Albert's expression immediately changed. The heartfelt words he had prepared to confess were instantly sent to the depths of hell by her cold and direct statement!

Yes, he had hoped to use the atmosphere of the gathering, with everyone present, to confess his love for her and his sincere remorse. These were his life-and-death brothers, and her close friends. He thought that confessing in front of them would be more sincere than doing so alone.

After all, he was a man who was used to being proud and arrogant. To humble himself in front of so many people like this had already been the limit for him. Now, with her crushing words, he felt a surge of frustration, and the thought of any confession went straight out the window. He just sat there, silently drinking.

Klutz kept nudging him with his foot to remind him, but he remained unmoved, pouring himself another glass from the bottle as if he were drinking water.

The two of them were upset, but with such a large group, the evening had to continue. They were only halfway through the meal, so everyone else continued chatting and laughing, trying to lift the mood and return the atmosphere in the private room to normal.

After sitting down, Cynthia began chatting with Vivian and Bonnie, who were seated beside her. Vivian was also getting married. It was said that her fiancé had pursued her relentlessly for four years before finally winning her over, which made all the women around them envious of Lancaster's luck.

Vivian shyly showed off her diamond ring to them. It wasn't extravagant or expensive, but the happiness in Vivian's eyes was undeniable. Cynthia glanced at Bonnie and noticed that her eyes held a similar melancholy. Once, a simple, peaceful happiness like that—marriage founded on love—had been their dream.

But now, both she and Bonnie had different outcomes. One had ended with a divorce, and the other had married someone she didn't love. How could they not feel sorrow?
