Playing With Other Supernaturals-Chapter 1409 Deal
Kisuke watched Ex roll on the ground while holding his shin and grimacing in pain. Meanwhile, Robertina went in front of Kisuke and slightly lowered her head. "I apologize on his behalf."
"No. It's fine. I did say he could give it a go. Besides, the integrity of this place wasn't affected in the slightest."
Robertina was a bit skeptical because she knew how damaging Ex's [Power of Destruction], combined with his Artificial Longinus [Boosted Gear Diabolus], could be. Nonetheless, Robertina didn't immediately refute Kisuke's claims and used Magic to zoom in on the spot where Ex hit. "...There's really nothing?" she muttered in a higher octave after carefully inspecting the image in front of her.
Forget about not having a fracture; not even the paint was chipped.
This over-the-top underground space, of course, was only possible because of the over-the-top technology that was used to construct it. On the space expansion side of things, Kisuke learned it from the very best, Seraselbes. She neither confirmed nor denied it, but it's widely suggested that it was Seraselbes who first conceived the long-distance travel that is the fundamental technology that the [Gates] use.
Since she's also the one who constructed the dimension-tunneling ship for Kisuke, it's not strange for her to have space-time technology just rotting in her head.
As for the defensive side of things, it was derived from and was a weakened and simplified version of Kisuke's [Imaginary Number World], which he used to protect and hide their base on Mars. This is also the reason why he was very surprised that Ex noticed it and decided to adjust his plans accordingly.
Ex finally got up and used Magic to clean himself while saying, "So what do you think? Can we rent this place out?"
"Sure, why not?"
Ex was stunned for a moment before beaming with a smile. "Really!? This is way better than the training grounds we used to go to, so I'll be glad if I can stop holding back for a bit!"
"But it won't be cheap, and I do have a condition."
'It's here,' Robertina thought as she stepped in. "We know it won't be cheap, and we'll have to consult a few people for the compensation we can prepare, so I'd like to discuss the conditions for now."
"That's my first condition. Only tell those who are going to rent this place about it. For the second condition, let's discuss who can use it in the first place."
Robertina thought about it for a moment. She was already expecting the first condition, so she immediately moved to the second condition. "We'd like to rent it with the Gremory Household's authority."
In an instant, Kisuke shook his head. "No. I don't like a high-ranking Devil household negotiating with me. I'm just a single person, so I'd like to avoid being pressured by a bigger entity."
"The Gremory Household won't do that to put you at a disadvantage!" Ex instantly retorted, feeling that he had to defend the honor of his family.
Kisuke turned to him and said, "Let's say I believe you; it's still an unnecessary risk for me. Besides, how many people are related to the Gremory Household? If I were to agree to that, it would mean letting them all in with the vetting process only requiring them to have some blood ties."
"We could add more stipulations if you want to limit the people," Robertina took back the conversation, "and if you can agree, the compensation we could give you would be exponentially better." freewebnøvel.com
"It doesn't matter. Aside from me not being comfortable with the Gremory Household as a whole watching my place, the moment I agree to let the Gremory Household rent this place, it's a trivial matter to break those stipulations because there are already several holes created from the overall agreement."
Ex came into the conversation again and asked curiously, "Like what?"
"For example, we can limit who can use this space to the main family; however, you can easily get around that through adoption." Kisuke saw that Ex was about to interrupt again, so he immediately continued, "It won't happen, I know, but the possibility is there, and I don't like those kinds of holes."
Robertina saw his reasoning, and she too would hate it if it was like that. "Then what do you suggest? Depending on these limitations, it'll be hard to pay for it with just our funds."
"While you were exploring the place, I looked up your names. I just want to limit the access to you and your siblings. Not anyone else. Just you siblings. I have an idea of how much you can afford. Don't worry, it'll be expensive but not enough to make you guys poor. It'll be cheap even if you can have everyone pitch in."
Robertina became quiet. If she and her siblings could rent this space, it would bring a lot of convenience for them, and Kisuke's condition was something she could accept. However, that didn't mean she could decide this on her own. 'If it's with the Gremory Household, it'll be easy to just say yes, but with just us, I'm not sure if I can handle the risks.'
A few more moments of silence went by before Robertina gave another reply. "Can I at least discuss it with everyone who's going to be involved?"
"Hmmm... Sure, but you guys have to sign a contract first, and before you discuss it with others, they have to swear to secrecy too."
"That's fine. We'll be back in a week."
...
Kisuke watched the siblings leave, and the moment they were out of his sight, he also started closing down the shop for the day as the sun had already started to set.
"So you're going to gain their trust like this?" Benihime came out of the shop and asked.
"Not a bad idea, right?" Kisuke chuckled. "And the way I phrased it sounded like I'll betray them at some point."
"To some extent, you would," Benihime answered with confidence.
"...I guess it's hard to deny that considering how much I lied to them today. Well, I have no intention of hurting them, so all is good."
"What do you really plan for them?"
"Not much, to be honest. I just want them to be my eyes and hands for a bit. At some point, various factions outside of Draconic Deus will start probing this world again once they hear about the disintegrated Iocrotrium and the weird spacequake."
The next day, however, one of the siblings came after school hours to the shop once again and said, "Good afternoon, Urahara-san! Do you mind giving me a free trial? Oh, and let me buy some more snacks. I showed them to Shirayuki-nee-san and Kurobara-nee-san, and they've been pestering me to send some over since yesterday."
