Playing Waterbending (Avatar: Last Aibender SI)-Chapter 82
Chapter 82 - 82
Zhao was about to burn the life out of the spirits, aiming to shoot a fire beam at one of them.
The spirits could see through their eyes.
Yet, they couldn't stop him.
It was known that the Moon and Ocean spirits had given up their immortal forms to live on Earth forever.
It may sound like a romantic story, but it gave them a huge advantage.
And if you were going to take on a mortal form, why become a small fish? Why not a blue whale? After all, there would always be someone like Zhao trying to burn them.
The fire beam left Zhao's hand, but somehow, it missed the pond.
"What the hell... I must be too excited. Fish, goodbye," Zhao said sadistically. He then waved his hand, generating fire and shooting it at the pond.
Yet, again, he missed.
The water from the pond started moving on its own.
A small part of it flew toward Zhao, freezing him in place, leaving only his head exposed.
"Hello. We meet again," said a very familiar voice—a voice Zhao could never forget.
Zhao didn't need to turn his head. His whole body turned to face the source of the voice.
It was Ryuk, the demonic waterbender.
Zhao clenched his jaw.
"You motherfucker..." Zhao cursed.
Ryuk ignored him and walked toward the pond.
He squatted down.
"You must be the Ocean and Moon spirits," he said with a smile, waving his hand. "You may not know me, but thanks to you, I've won countless battles. I'm Ryuk, by the way. Maybe you'll understand me better if I do this."
Ryuk waved his hand in front of the pond, attempting some spiritual waterbending.
He was trying to communicate with the spirits.
The water shone brightly with a white light.
The fish rolled slower. One of them stopped and looked directly at him in the eye.
"Maybe with some spiritual link, we can understand each other better," Ryuk said.
That was something mentioned in the scroll that Wang had given him. It taught him how to affect the spirits with waterbending. He could transfer his emotions—both negative and positive—creating a link between them. And that link would lead to mutual understanding.
"I know you," a fish replied. There were no sound waves, but Ryuk could hear the voice in his head.
[Ding. The Moon Spirit is communicating with you.]
"Really?" Ryuk asked.
"I lent you my power one night," the fish replied.
"I thought all waterbenders got power-ups... didn't they?" Ryuk said.
"You absorbed my chi during the full moon nights," replied the fish, which he assumed to be the Moon Spirit.
The other fish joined in.
"So, this is the one who could absorb power and bloodbend humans... Never seen an advanced bender since the Avatar. Are you just a regular human?" the fish said.
Ryuk didn't know how to reply.
He thought, 'Yeah, by "regular," do you mean having a fully functional body and a dick? Because I have both.'
"Why do male humans always think with their genitals?" the fish asked.
"Wait. You can read my thoughts?" Ryuk said.
"Yes. Because we have a link. And why are you thinking about a pink elephant?" the Ocean Spirit asked.
"To protect my mind," Ryuk smiled. "I'm quite a private person."

"What the hell are you—" Zhao, standing to the side, couldn't help but interrupt.
But Ryuk shut him up by bloodbending his mouth, forcing it to stay shut.
"Anyways, you're safe now, fish," Ryuk replied.
"Show some respect," the Ocean Spirit said.
"Sorry. I mean, safe for now, spirits of the Ocean and the Moon," Ryuk corrected.
"What do you mean by that?" the Ocean Spirit asked.
"Yes, what do you mean by 'now'?" the Moon Spirit asked.
Ryuk took a deep breath and pointed behind him.
"This guy here has been conspiring with the Fire Nation to invade the North Pole. Their plan was to kill you before invading. I've countered Zhao for now, but I won't always be able to protect you. At the same time, I don't have the power to help you fully," Ryuk explained.
The fish stopped moving.
Zhao's eyes widened as he tried to understand how his plans could have been discovered.
The Moon Spirit floated from the water and looked directly into Ryuk's eyes, her gaze intense.
Ryuk's body lifted from the ground, energy flowing into him from every direction.
He began groaning in pain, feeling his chi pathways flood.
"I've given you a portion of my spiritual power. You can now be as strong as you would be on a full moon night—or stronger," the Moon Spirit said.
[Ding. Your Chi has increased drastically.]
[Ding. You have gained the Moon Spirit's Chi.]
[Ding. Chi bending efficiency has increased by 300%.]
Ryuk stopped floating and looked at his hands.
He could feel it now.
True power.
At the same time, Zhao could feel something strange.
He saw Ryuk's eyes glowing and watched him grow more powerful.
He couldn't help but ask, "Are you the Avatar?"
"No," Ryuk shook his head. "Just an ordinary waterbender. Who's too good for you."
"Too good," Zhao scoffed. "You're just a rapist who likes overpowering weak women."
"Excuse me?" Ryuk said, turning his head toward him.
"No matter what you think you are, history will write you down as the most evil person ever," Zhao sneered.
Ryuk smirked and shook his head.
Zhao yelled, "What's so funny?"
"All I did was call your wife an ugly pig and slap her. That's it. As for assaulting her or doing her against her will—sorry, but that's not my thing. As a man, you should understand that we have preferences," Ryuk laughed in Zhao's face.

"What? You're just a fucking liar!" Zhao denied.
"Why would I lie? I've already got you," Ryuk replied. "Here's another statement you may consider a lie: Remember Wang Shi Tong? He's got a beef with you for burning down a section of his library. And he gave me the task of taking you down."
Zhao paused for a second, his jaw dropped, his eyes wide open.
"The spirits want you gone. But I think everyone deserves a piece of you," Ryuk said. "As for your wife, don't worry about her. I'll take care of her."
"Wait... wait!" Zhao tried to resist, to negotiate, but Ryuk silenced him with bloodbending.
From the sides of the pond, a few foxes appeared. From the ground, a library gate manifested. The red foxes walked in, and Ryuk pointed his hand at Zhao's frozen body. He waved his hand, and Zhao was pulled into the gate.
Earlier, Ryuk had contacted Wang.
As for how?
He simply meditated until he found himself in the spirit world.
From there, contacting Wang was as simple as thinking about him.
He had told Wang that he would have Zhao by the pond, next to the Moon and Ocean spirits.
Zhao disappeared into the gate, despair clouding his face.
Ryuk, on the other hand, had one final task left to do.
