Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 46 - 45: Testing New Weapons, Frenzied Monster Grinding!
Tu Hongwu completely ignored Gongsun Mu, waving his hand and making dozens of pieces of equipment vanish in an instant.
Gongsun Mu was hopping around anxiously as he started stuffing equipment into his own System Space too.
Originally, all this gear was stuff he’d set out himself, and putting it away again would’ve been a piece of cake—if he just thought about it, it’d be done. Except, just as he tried,
he realized that this entire space had already been locked down by that old bastard Tu Hongwu.
And yet there wasn’t squat he could do about Tu Hongwu. That Blood Slaughter God nickname wasn’t just for show—it was earned, dungeon by dungeon, world by world, in blood!
Never mind Tu Hongwu’s higher level—even before he became a god, Tu Hongwu could reverse the tides and slay gods for real.
As for himself, he was just a Life Professional. Sure, he’d become a god too, but in terms of combat strength? The gap was as wide as the sky and the earth.
"Hey, stop, stop! That’s lady’s armor—what the hell do you even want that for?! And that half-divine artifact—your disciple can’t even use it, what’s the point in taking it! Not this one, it’s for Old Chu’s nephew, I made it for him.
This one either, that’s for the Hua Family—they paid me to make it for them...
This one’s off-limits too..."
Tu Hongwu curled his lip and threw a few pieces of equipment aside:
"Then why’d you put ’em out here in the first place? You bullshitting me?"
"All I wanted was to let your disciple pick one out, I didn’t think you’d snatch shit like this! If he picked something, I could always craft another, no big deal. Seriously, look at the mess you made!"
"What a cheapskate. Not manly at all! If I had this kinda stuff, I’d just give it all to my disciple!"
And while Tu Hongwu was still yapping, he kept shoving more gear into his own System Space.
"Quit talking crap. That kid’s your disciple, not mine. And who doesn’t know you’re broke as hell? If you had this stuff—yeah, right, like you’d ever have it!"
Gongsun Mu was about to explode from anger. In a blink, the two geezers had split up over a hundred pieces of gear, leaving Su Mo utterly speechless.
"You used to look down on all this. Now you’re grabbing gear your disciple can’t even use—come on, give me back the extras!
Look, there’s a level-free Heaven-piercing Halberd in there, I promised to craft that for someone else—I need it back."
Tu Hongwu just shook his head when he heard that:
"No can do. The others I don’t care about, but my disciple’s got his eye on that Heaven-piercing Halberd, and he could actually use it. If you want another, just spend some time and make a new one."
As he spoke, Tu Hongwu took out three items from his System Space and handed them to Su Mo.
They were the very same Mountain-Breaking Heaven-piercing Halberd and Devouring Void Tiger Head Saber Su Mo had been eyeing earlier, plus a Forced Awakening Stone.
Tu Hongwu had set aside these three items for him right from the start—the rest was just extras.
Even if his disciple couldn’t use the rest now, who knows, maybe he’ll need them someday?
Worst case, they can be gifted to others too.
Su Mo looked at the Heaven-piercing Halberd in his hand and remembered how Old Mao mentioned a level-free halberd he’d reserved for him. It was also a Heaven-piercing Halberd—wait, could it actually be this one?
Thinking of this, he turned to Gongsun Mu and asked:
"Artisan God Senior, may I ask if this Heaven-piercing Undercover was made for a principal by the name of Wang?"
Gongsun Mu looked confused. Even though he’d nearly thrown hands with Tu Hongwu just now, when facing Su Mo he managed to act calm and collected.
Clearly, this sort of thing happened between the two old men all the time.
Gongsun Mu thought it over, then finally replied: "Yeah, that kid’s a principal now. What, you know him?"
Hearing that, Su Mo was 80% certain, but had to double-check.
"Is it from Celestial City?"
"Yup, sure is. Why? If you like that Heaven-piercing Halberd, go ahead and keep it, I won’t take a weapon back.
Worst case, I’ll just spend a few more days and make another. If there’s one thing I, Gongsun Mu, have plenty of, it’s gear."
Gongsun Mu thumped his chest with a booming sound, looking nothing like the guy who was just squabbling with Tu Hongwu.
"Well, Artisan God Senior, maybe you won’t need to make a new one after all. This weapon was a special commission from Principal Wang for you to make for me.
He was going to give it to me after I became this year’s entrance exam champion—guess fate just worked out this way."
"Hahaha! Excellent, excellent—ambitious kid! The Great Xia really does have plenty of talent!"
"Of course! Whose disciple do you think I am? Anyway, keep those pieces safe and go finish the entrance exam. Once you’re the top scorer, I’ll come pick you up!"
Su Mo gripped the Heaven-piercing Halberd in his left hand and the Tiger Head Saber in his right. As for the Horse-cutting Saber he was using before—Tu Hongwu had already kicked that thing to the curb as junk.
In Tu Hongwu’s words: "What the hell are you carrying a level 60 white-grade weapon for? If my disciple goes out with that, do you know how embarrassing that is? I’d be mortified!"
Su Mo used to fret about how to get better equipment, but now, it felt like he had more than he could even use.
He shot a look at the two old guys who nearly went for each other’s throats a minute ago—now they were laughing and cracking jokes together. He honestly didn’t get it.
Shaking his head, Su Mo still couldn’t help but ask, "Master, isn’t it kinda cheating for you guys to hand me all this gear during the assessment?"
Tu Hongwu’s blood-red eyebrows shot up as he roared, "I’d like to see anyone try to say so!"
"Mo, you don’t need to worry about this. Those big-shot family kids awakened their powers ten years before regular students—that’s because their ancestors did great things.
Now that you’re apprenticed to Tu Hongwu, well, you get some privileges too. And anyway, this doesn’t count as cheating. Relax, just focus on the assessment,
getting accepted as Blood Slaughter God’s disciple is a big deal. We still have to get things ready—wait ’til you see the surprise we’ve got for you!"
When he finished speaking, Gongsun Mu and Tu Hongwu took a step forward and both disappeared in a flash.
Clutching the two new weapons, Su Mo felt more and more ecstatic as he looked at them.
Especially when he remembered he could help his sister get another awakening with this. Even better.
He’d been worried that he’d level up before finishing this dungeon.
But now, his XP bar was sealed by his master, so he could go wild farming monsters all he wanted!
This time, he’d set a goal: before the assessment ended, he’d break all his attribute points past 1000.
...
Not long after, deep in the forest, a tiger’s roar echoed out—and hordes of Tri-Eyed Race monsters surged toward Su Mo’s position.
He glanced down at the Devouring Void Tiger Head Saber in his hand, feeling the monsters closing in from every direction.
Su Mo’s grin almost reached the sky.
As a proper DPS, now I’ve got Strength, Defense, and taunt skills all in one!
I don’t even have to chase monsters anymore. Just stand still, roar like a tiger, and waves and waves of mobs come running—this is the freaking life!!!
Come on, come on! Time to test out my brand new gear!
