Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 42: New Alliance Member
"So, what’s your decision?" asked Leon, after he and Caleb had a long talk there.
"I will stick to my decision. I will accept Liliana as a member of my alliance and refuse you to join," Caleb said firmly.
"Aren’t you interested in my offer? Look, let’s make a new deal. I won’t create a high-level army, just militias and scouts. That’s certainly to buy—"
"Sorry. I thought our talk was over. No matter how hard you make the offer, I will stick to my principles," Caleb replied, interrupting Leon.
"But—"
"You’d better go back and get ready. I’ll give you a warning. I will attack your city. So, you’d better prepare yourself well," continued Caleb, cutting off Leon’s words again.
The man turned, he stepped back to approach Commander William to arrive at his horse’s mount. But Caleb’s steps stopped when he heard Leon say something, words enough to catch his attention.
"Tell me. Do you love her?" Leon asked, firmly.
Caleb chuckled, then turned to the side with a sharp, intimidating look directed at Leon, "With a life-and-death situation like this, is love and affection important? No! What’s important to me is my interests."
The man climbed onto his horse and rode back north with Commander William. Leon was still south of the river, his heart filled with resentment at the offer he had made, which Caleb had absolutely rejected.
"Just wait and see, Caleb. I’ll make you regret choosing that bitch over me," Leon replied.
Caleb and William rode north. On their way, William tried to ask questions and ease the tense atmosphere.
However, Caleb did not respond well. The man preferred to remain silent and not answer anything until they arrived in the city.
"Sir Caleb has been spotted on the horizon!" said a soldier, standing guard at the south gate of the finished city.
"It seems that the construction of the four stone gates has been completed," replied William.
"It seems so," replied Caleb.
The gate was open and there was a crowded atmosphere in the city center. Leonidas was doing his job well, he was seen dividing several large infantry units into a group of small units on patrol duty.
"Sir Caleb," Leonidas greeted, bowing his head.
Caleb dismounted from his horse and returned Leonidas’ greeting, "Thank you for guarding the city for me, Leonidas."
"Of course, my lord."
[Announcement!]
[You received one request to join the alliance]
[Applicant: Liliana_P]
As Caleb was about to approach his town hall, he was surprised by the appearance of a panel he did not expect, because Liliana had just leveled up her town hall and needed about 7 hours to fully build the Alliance Center.
"Is she starting to use the Construction Duration speed up item?" asked Caleb.
However, Caleb didn’t care. The request panel that appeared before him was a good sign that his plan had been successful, he could officially help Liliana from now on.
Caleb opened the alliance menu and confirmed Liliana’s request to join. The confirmation was sent, the two regions turned green, a sign that they had allied with each other.
Not only that, Caleb could also see everything in Liliana’s town hall without having to use his talent vision fog.
Buildings, constructions, villagers, even Liliana’s total troops could be seen clearly by Caleb. The two could work together through the alliance menu, but for trading, both must have a market building first. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
From the east, Liliana came on foot through the gate. Caleb’s troops did not attack the woman as they saw Liliana not as a neutral or enemy unit, but as an ally.
"Caleb. I did it," said Liliana, walking quickly to downtown Caleb.
Caleb smiled, still standing there watching the 18-year-old girl running towards him.
Surprisingly, Liliana hugged Caleb tightly again, happy tears streaming from her eyes, wetting Caleb’s clothes.
’She must have been very scared. However, with her in an alliance with me, her life could be saved,’ Caleb said.
"You did it, Liliana. By joining my alliance, I can help you when you are under attack, "said Caleb.
"I am really happy that I have been alive this whole time in this terrible game. Luckily I met you, so I can start trusting people, "Liliana replied.
The girl took a step back, her small white hands wiped tears from the corners of her eyes, her lips lifted up in a big smile full of satisfaction and happiness. Caleb was happy to see the relieved expression Liliana showed.
Liliana looked around. She had previously only seen the condition of Caleb’s town hall from a distance, but now she was right in the middle of Caleb’s city. At the moment, she saw more troop units than workers.
"You’ve built up a lot of troop units, Caleb," Liliana said, her face frozen in silence when she saw two men in different suits.
Liliana had seen both of them right when Caleb killed the player Great_Dao in front of her. The man in sparta armor was the one who slit the player’s throat to death.
"They ...?"
"My two commanders. I actually have three commanders, but I assigned one of them to the town hall with the First Bowman unit."
"The two people with me are S-rank and A-Class commanders," Caleb replied.
"S-Class commanders? But how did you get such commanders? Isn’t that difficult?" Liliana asked.
Caleb shook his head. Commander Leonidas was obtained purely from the results of high-level treasure cave exploration, while Commander William was obtained from two things: treasure cave exploration and defeating other players.
Even though they had names, Caleb had no intention of telling Liliana their names. This was solely to maintain the basic identity of the commanders.
If they heard the name Leonidas, what came to mind was a group of Spartan warriors who were strong in defense. This was in line with the buffs that Leonidas gave and his Defensive Infantry commander type.
"Can I get one too?" Liliana asked.
"Of course. You can get one," Caleb replied.
"Teach me, please!"
Caleb saw the seriousness on Liliana’s face, an innocent girl who just wanted to live a peaceful life when she found herself trapped in a life-and-death game like this.
"I’ll teach you."
