Chapter 33: Former Alliance Members

[Liliana_P] [Hmm... I feel like I’ve heard that alliance name before]

[Caleb] [It was the first alliance name that CL_Ellise made in the first tournament he won. I hope that, with that alliance name, those who support CL_Ellise can support me]

[Liliana_P] [Oh, I just remembered that. That was indeed CL_Ellise’s first alliance name. But are you sure you want to name your alliance after that? CL_Ellise might take offense]

[Caleb] [It’s first come, first served. I’m sure he has another alliance name that he thinks is suitable]

[Liliana_P] [Just wait, Caleb. I’ll join your alliance soon]

[Caleb] [I’m waiting]

Their conversation ended on the friend chat page. Caleb returned his attention to the front, several rows of stone walls were successfully built.

As Caleb remembers, there are several stages that can increase the durability of stone walls. The total durability that stone walls can get after doing architectural and other research was 50,000/50,000.

To achieve such durability, Caleb remembered that he could achieve it when his town hall was at level 45-50, right after doing one of the technological researches with high resource costs, exceeding 10,000.

But Caleb still had a long way to go to reach that stage. Currently, his town hall was only level 4, at least Caleb could only build an alliance center.

He opened the vision fog map, his talent. From the map panel, Caleb saw troop concentrations starting to appear with different colored dots for each town.

To the south, there was only CL_Ellise’s city standing, no other cities —CL_Ellise had destroyed other players around him.

Caleb pointed his hand and made a circle around the area. From the selection results, he knew the composition of the enemy army easily.

Out of the total 37 units of troops he had, the majority of his troops were filled with two different units, Militia and First Swordsman. There were very few cavalry and archer units.

’It seems that the focus of CL_Ellise’s strength will rest on the infantry troops. It’s okay, they’re weak against cavalry, I just need to create a lot of Heavy Scouts to defeat them,’ Caleb explained.

[One incoming message!]

[Sender: Jack_Hunter]

[Kingdom Name: Jenisa_Great1]

[Hey, are you the man who defeated Great_Dao? Can we meet in the area?]

[There’s something that’s been haunting my mind all this time. I need to confirm it]

An incoming message appeared before Caleb, with the sender’s identity coming from the town hall Jenisa_Great1. Caleb had never dealt with him before, he was a typical calm player who didn’t do much.

However, at this time he informed Caleb about the truth of the death of player Great_Dao. If indeed Jack was an enemy of Great_Dao, then Caleb could consider inviting him into an alliance.

’Who is he? What is he planning to do to me?’ Caleb asked.

Caleb had to be wary, but that didn’t mean he had to suspect all the players here. Maybe, there are good-hearted players without hidden intentions. Caleb can make alliances with players like that.

For the time being, Caleb should follow what the player wanted, meet. He replied to Jack_Hunter’s message by writing that he just wanted to meet with the troops.

[Recipient: Jack_Hunter]

[Kingdom Name: Jenisa_Great1]

[Sure. I’m willing to meet. However, we must meet with our troops. Do you mind?]

[Message sent]

Not long after, Jack informed Caleb again and stated that he agreed. He would bring his troops and change his troops’ stance to idle stance. Caleb realized that the man he was about to meet might be a skilled player in the real world.

Caleb turned his head, looking at Commander Leonidas who was standing by with his troops. He called Leonidas which made the man walk over.

"I leave the safety and defense of this city to you and Arash. I will go with William," Caleb explained.

"We understand. Take good care of yourself, Master."

Caleb nodded. He joined the cavalry unit led by William, which suddenly made Caleb have his own mount.

Led by William, he left with six Heavy Scout units that had changed their stance to idle stance. They went together leaving the city to the west, towards the former Great_Dao territory.

During the trip, William kept asking about the player named Jack_Hunter. Caleb shook his head, he didn’t know anything about him.

"If he’s the enemy of my enemy, can’t we be friends?" asked Caleb, turning his head while riding a horse.

"It’s not like that, Master. Sometimes, alliance schemes due to the same enemy have different true objectives. I’ve seen it a lot in my past wars," replied William.

"So, you came here with a lot of strategy references from your war experience?" asked Caleb. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"I can’t manage strategy. All control over my abilities and my mind is in your hands. You have to manage it for me and the troops," said William.

’He behaved like an AI, answering all my questions. However, when I asked him to take control of the army’s strategy, he refused,’ said Caleb.

For the rest of the journey, the two were silent to each other. Two hours later, Caleb arrived at Great_Dao’s former territory, where there was a person in a cloak standing in front of 10 First Swordsman units.

"Is it him?" asked William.

"It seems so. You all stay here. I’ll go get him," explained Caleb.

From Caleb’s direction, the player in front of him looked so mysterious. He was wearing a long black robe suit with a black hood. Not only that, he seemed to be wearing a mysterious mask on his face.

He stepped forward alone, exactly as Caleb did. The two armies were on different sides, keeping alert for each other.

Caleb stopped his horse, standing right in front of the player, "Are you Jack_Hunter?"

"N-No way. Is that you, Ellise?" asked the Jack_Hunter, surprising Caleb because his voice sounded like a female voice.

"You’re a girl? How did you know my last name?" Caleb asked.

"Haha perhaps my appearance is unfamiliar to you, Ellise," replied Jack_Hunter.

He opened the black cloak and removed the hood, revealing a white shirt and knee-length skirt, just like an office worker.

Caleb squinted, still curious about the identity of player Jack_Hunter. When the player removed the mask covering his face, Caleb was shocked.

"W-Wait! Aren’t you Jennie?" Caleb asked.

"You finally recognized me," Jennie replied.

The man in front of Jennie could only be shocked at the presence of his friend. Caleb and Jennie had been allies in the second tournament, but Jennie had failed to protect her town from the invasion of enemy forces, causing the woman to be defeated and failed.

Caleb didn’t expect to see his old friend again.

"It’s good to see you in this place, Jennie," Caleb revealed.

"Me, too. Thanks for killing Great_Dao. I was really helped by that."
